1 When Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedor-Laomer king of Elam, and Tidal king ofthe Goiim,	1 Or avvenne in quel tempo che Amrafel re di Sennaar, e Arioc re di Ponto, e Codorlaomor re degli Elamiti, e Tadal re delle Genti
2 made war on Bera king of Sodom, Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, Shemeber king ofZeboi m, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar),	2 mossero guerra a Bara re di Sodoma, a Bersa re di Gomorra, a Sennaab re di Adama, a Semeber re di Seboim e al re di Baia o Segor.
3 al the latter joined forces in the Val ey of Siddim (now the Salt Sea).	3 Tutti questi si radunarono nella valle dei Boschi, che ora è il mar del sale.

10 Now there were many bitumen wel s in the Val ey of Siddim, and in their flight the kings of Sodomand Gomorrah fel into them, while the rest fled into the hil s.	10 Or la valle dei Boschi aveva molti pozzi di bitume, e i re di Sodoma e di Gomorra si diedero alla fuga e vi caddero dentro, e quelli che si salvarono fuggirono alla montagna.
11 The conquerors seized al the possessions of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their provisions, andmade off.	11 E (i vincitori) presero tutte le ricchezze di Sodoma e di Gomorra e tutti i viveri, e se ne andarono;
12 They also took Lot (the nephew of Abram) and his possessions and made off; he had been living atSodom.	12 presero anche Lot, figlio del fratello di Abramo, che abitava in Sodoma, e tutte le sue sostanze.
13 A survivor came to tell Abram, and Aner the Hebrew, who was living at the Oak of the AmoriteMamre, the brother of Eshcol; these were al ies of Abram.	13 Ed uno degli scampati raccontò l'accaduto ad Abramo Ebreo, che abitava nella valle di Mambre Amorreo, fratello di Escol e di Aner, i quali s'eran confederati con Abramo.
14 When Abram heard that his kinsman had been taken captive, he mustered his retainers born in hisown household, numbering three hundred and eighteen, and gave chase as far as Dan.	14 E Abramo, come ebbe sentito che Lot suo fratello era stato fatto prigioniero, scelse trecentodiciotto tra i migliori servi nati in casa, e inseguì (i nemici) fino a Dan.
15 He and his retainers deployed against them under cover of dark, defeated them and pursued themas far as Hobah, north of Damascus.	15 E, divise le schiere, li assalì di notte tempo, e li sbaragliò, e l'inseguì fino ad Hoba, che è a sinistra di Damasco.
16 He recaptured all the goods as wel as his kinsman Lot and his possessions, together with thewomen and people.	16 E ricuperò tutta la roba, e Lot suo fratello con tutto ciò che gli apparteneva, e anche le donne e il popolo.
17 When Abram returned from defeating Chedor-Laomer and the kings who had been on his side, theking of Sodom came to meet him in the Val ey of Shaveh (that is, the Val ey of the King).	17 E quando egli tornò dalla sconfitta di Codorlaomor e dei re che erano con lui, il re di Sodoma gli andò incontro nella valle di Save, che è la valle del re.
18 Melchizedek king of Salem brought bread and wine; he was a priest of God Most High.	18 E Melchisedec re di Salern, offrendo del pane e del vino, chè era sacerdote dell'Altissimo Dio,
19 He pronounced this blessing: Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth.And blessed be God Most High for putting your enemies into your clutches.	19 lo benedisse, dicendo: «Benedetto sia Abramo dall'Altissimo Iddio che creò il cielo e la terra,
20 And Abram gave him a tenth of everything.	20 e benedetto l'Altissimo Dio, per la cui protezione i nemici sono caduti in tuo potere ». E Abramo gli diede la decima di tutto.
21 The king of Sodom said to Abram, 'Give me the people and take the possessions for yourself.'	21 E il re di Sodoma disse ad Abramo: « Dammi le persone e prendi per te il resto ».
22 But Abram replied to the king of Sodom, 'I swear by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth:	22 Ma Abramo gli rispose: « Alzo la mia mano al Signore Dio Altissimo, padrone del cielo e della terra;
23 not one thread, not one sandal strap, will I take of what is yours, for you to be able to say, "I madeAbram rich."	23 di ciò che è tuo non prenderò nè un fil di trama, nè un legaccio di sandali, perchè tu non abbia a dire poi: « Ho arricchito Abramo ».
24 For myself, nothing -- except what the troops have used up, and the share due to the men who camewith me, Eshcol, Aner and Mamre; let them take their share.'	24 Nulla, tolto quello che hanno mangiato i giovani e le porzioni degli uomini che son venuti meco: Aner, Escol e Mambre: prendano essi la loro parte ».
