1 When Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedor-Laomer king of Elam, and Tidal king ofthe Goiim,	1 Damals führten Amrafel, der König von Schinar, Arjoch, der König von Ellasar, Kedor-Laomer, der König von Elam, und Tidal, der König der Völker,
2 made war on Bera king of Sodom, Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, Shemeber king ofZeboi m, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar),	2 Krieg gegen Bera, den König von Sodom, Birscha, den König von Gomorra, Schinab, den König von Adma, Schemeber, den König von Zebojim, und den König von Bela, das jetzt Zoar heißt.

5 In the fourteenth year Chedor-Laomer arrived and the kings who had al ied themselves with him. 10 Now there were many bitumen wel s in the Val ey of Siddim, and in their flight the kings of Sodomand Gomorrah fel into them, while the rest fled into the hil s.	10 Das Siddimtal war voller Erdpechgruben; die Könige von Sodom und Gomorra mussten fliehen und fielen dort hinein, die Übrigen flohen ins Gebirge.
11 The conquerors seized al the possessions of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their provisions, andmade off.	11 Die Feinde nahmen die ganze Habe von Sodom und Gomorra sowie alle ihre Vorräte mit und zogen ab.
12 They also took Lot (the nephew of Abram) and his possessions and made off; he had been living atSodom.	12 Als sie abzogen, nahmen sie auch Lot, den Neffen Abrams, und seine Habe mit; Lot wohnte damals in Sodom.
13 A survivor came to tell Abram, and Aner the Hebrew, who was living at the Oak of the AmoriteMamre, the brother of Eshcol; these were al ies of Abram.	13 Ein Flüchtling kam und berichtete es dem Hebräer Abram; Abram wohnte bei den Eichen des Amoriters Mamre, des Bruders Eschkols und Aners, die seine Bundesgenossen waren.
14 When Abram heard that his kinsman had been taken captive, he mustered his retainers born in hisown household, numbering three hundred and eighteen, and gave chase as far as Dan.	14 Als Abram hörte, sein Bruder sei gefangen, musterte er seine ausgebildete Mannschaft, dreihundertachtzehn Mann, die alle in seinem Haus geboren waren, und nahm die Verfolgung auf bis nach Dan.
15 He and his retainers deployed against them under cover of dark, defeated them and pursued themas far as Hobah, north of Damascus.	15 In der Nacht verteilten sie sich, er und seine Knechte, um sie zu überfallen. Er schlug sie und verfolgte sie bis Hoba, nördlich von Damaskus.
16 He recaptured all the goods as wel as his kinsman Lot and his possessions, together with thewomen and people.	16 Er brachte die ganze Habe zurück, auch seinen Bruder Lot und dessen Besitz sowie die Frauen und die übrigen Leute.
17 When Abram returned from defeating Chedor-Laomer and the kings who had been on his side, theking of Sodom came to meet him in the Val ey of Shaveh (that is, the Val ey of the King).	17 Als er nach dem Sieg über Kedor-Laomer und die mit ihm verbündeten Könige zurückkam, zog ihm der König von Sodom ins Schawetal entgegen, das jetzt Königstal heißt.
18 Melchizedek king of Salem brought bread and wine; he was a priest of God Most High.	18 Melchisedek, der König von Salem, brachte Brot und Wein heraus. Er war Priester des Höchsten Gottes.
19 He pronounced this blessing: Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth.And blessed be God Most High for putting your enemies into your clutches.	19 Er segnete Abram und sagte: Gesegnet sei Abram vom Höchsten Gott, dem Schöpfer des Himmels und der Erde,
20 And Abram gave him a tenth of everything.	20 und gepriesen sei der Höchste Gott, der deine Feinde an dich ausgeliefert hat. Darauf gab ihm Abram den Zehnten von allem.
21 The king of Sodom said to Abram, 'Give me the people and take the possessions for yourself.'	21 Der König von Sodom sagte zu Abram: Gib mir die Leute zurück, die Habe behalte!
22 But Abram replied to the king of Sodom, 'I swear by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth:	22 Abram entgegnete dem König von Sodom: Ich erhebe meine Hand zum Herrn, dem Höchsten Gott, dem Schöpfer des Himmels und der Erde:
23 not one thread, not one sandal strap, will I take of what is yours, for you to be able to say, "I madeAbram rich."	23 Keinen Faden und keinen Schuhriemen, nichts von allem, was dir gehört, will ich behalten. Du sollst nicht behaupten können: Ich habe Abram reich gemacht.
24 For myself, nothing -- except what the troops have used up, and the share due to the men who camewith me, Eshcol, Aner and Mamre; let them take their share.'	24 Nur was meine Leute verzehrt haben und was auf die Männer entfällt, die mit mir gezogen sind, auf Aner, Eschkol und Mamre, das sollen sie als ihren Anteil behalten.
