NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 When Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedor-Laomer king of Elam, and Tidal king ofthe Goiim,	1 Au temps d'Amraphel roi de Shinéar, d'Aryok roi d'Ellasar, de Kedor-Laomer roi d'Elam et deTidéal roi des Goyim,
2 made war on Bera king of Sodom, Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, Shemeber king ofZeboi m, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar),	2 ceux-ci firent la guerre contre Béra roi de Sodome, Birsha roi de Gomorrhe, Shinéab roi d'Adma,Shémeéber roi de Ceboyim etle roi de Béla (c'est Coar).

5 In the fourteenth year Chedor-Laomer arrived and the kings who had al ied themselves with him. Theydefeated the Rephaim at Ashteroth-Carnaim, the Zuzim at Ham, the Emim in the Plain of Kiriathaim,	5 En la quatorzième année, arrivèrent Kedor-Laomer et les rois qui étaient avec lui. Ils battirent lesRephaïm à Ashterot-Qarnayim, les Zuzim à Ham, les Emim dans la plaine de Qiryatayim,
6 the Horites in the mountainous district of Seir near El-Paran, which is on the edge of the desert.	6 les Horites dans les montagnes de Séïr jusqu'à El-Parân, qui est à la limite du désert.
7 Wheeling round, they came to the Spring of Judgement (that is, Kadesh); they conquered all theterritory of the Amalekites and also the Amorites who lived in Hazazon-Tamar.	7 Ils firent un mouvement tournant et vinrent à la Source du Jugement (c'est Cadès); ils battirent toutle territoire des Amalécites et aussi les Amorites qui habitaient Haçaçôn-Tamar.
8 Then the kings of Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, Zeboiim and Bela (that is, Zoar) marched out andengaged them in the Val ey of Siddim:
9 Chedor-Laomer king of Elam, Tidal king of the Goiim, Amraphel king of Shinar and Arioch king ofEl asar: four kings against five.
10 Now there were many bitumen wel s in the Val ey of Siddim, and in their flight the kings of Sodomand Gomorrah fel into them, while the rest fled into the hil s.	10 Or la vallée de Siddim était pleine de puits de bitume; dansleur fuite, le roi de Sodome et le roi deGomorrhe y tombèrent, et le reste se réfugia dans la montagne.
11 The conquerors seized al the possessions of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their provisions, andmade off.	11 Les vainqueurs prirent tous les biens de Sodome et de Gomorrheet tous leurs vivres, et s'enallèrent.
12 They also took Lot (the nephew of Abram) and his possessions and made off; he had been living atSodom.	12 Ils prirent aussi Lot et ses biens (le neveu d'Abram), et s'enallèrent; il habitait Sodome.
13 A survivor came to tell Abram, and Aner the Hebrew, who was living at the Oak of the AmoriteMamre, the brother of Eshcol; these were al ies of Abram.	13 Un rescapé vint informer Abram l'Hébreu, qui demeurait auChêne de l'Amorite Mambré, frèred'Eshkol et d'Aner; ils étaient les alliés d'Abram.
14 When Abram heard that his kinsman had been taken captive, he mustered his retainers born in hisown household, numbering three hundred and eighteen, and gave chase as far as Dan.	14 Quand Abram apprit que son parent était emmené captif, il leva ses partisans, ses familiers, aunombre de 318, et mena la poursuite jusqu'à Dan.
15 He and his retainers deployed against them under cover of dark, defeated them and pursued themas far as Hobah, north of Damascus.	15 Il les attaqua de nuit en ordre dispersé, lui et ses gens, il les battit et les poursuivit jusqu'à Hoba,au nord de Damas.
16 He recaptured all the goods as wel as his kinsman Lot and his possessions, together with thewomen and people.	16 Il reprit tous les biens, et aussi son parent Lot et ses biens, ainsi que les femmes et les gens.
17 When Abram returned from defeating Chedor-Laomer and the kings who had been on his side, theking of Sodom came to meet him in the Val ey of Shaveh (that is, the Val ey of the King).	17 Quand Abram revint après avoir battu Kedor-Laomer et les rois qui étaient avec lui, le roi deSodome alla à sa rencontre dans la vallée de Shavé (c'est la vallée du Roi).
18 Melchizedek king of Salem brought bread and wine; he was a priest of God Most High.	18 Melchisédech, roi de Shalem, apporta du pain et du vin; il était prêtre du Dieu Très-Haut.
19 He pronounced this blessing: Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth.And blessed be God Most High for putting your enemies into your clutches.	19 Il prononça cette bénédiction: "Béni soit Abram par le Dieu Très-Haut qui créa ciel et terre,
20 And Abram gave him a tenth of everything.	20 et béni soit le Dieu Très-Haut qui a livré tes ennemis entre tes mains." Et Abram lui donna ladîme de tout.
21 The king of Sodom said to Abram, 'Give me the people and take the possessions for yourself.'	21 Le roi de Sodome dit à Abram: "Donne-moi les personnes et prends les biens pour toi."
22 But Abram replied to the king of Sodom, 'I swear by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth:	22 Mais Abram répondit au roi de Sodome: "Je lève la main devant le Dieu Très-Haut qui créa ciel etterre:
23 not one thread, not one sandal strap, will I take of what is yours, for you to be able to say, "I madeAbram rich."	23 ni un fil ni une courroie de sandale, je ne prendrai rien de ce qui est à toi, et tu ne pourras pas dire:J'ai enrichi Abram.
24 For myself, nothing -- except what the troops have used up, and the share due to the men who camewith me, Eshcol, Aner and Mamre; let them take their share.'	24 Rien pour moi. Seulement ce que mes serviteurs ont mangé et la part des hommes qui sont venusavec moi, Aner, Eshkol et Mambré; eux prendront leur part."
