NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 In the beginning God created heaven and earth.	1 In principio Dio creò il cielo e la terra.
2 Now the earth was a formless void, there was darkness over the deep, with a divine wind sweepingover the waters.	2 Or la terra era informe e vuota, e le tenebre coprivan la faccia dell'abisso, e lo Spirito di Dio si librava sopra le acque.
3 God said, 'Let there be light,' and there was light.	3 E Dio disse: « Sia la luce ». E la luce fu.
4 God saw that light was good, and God divided light from darkness.	4 E Dio vide che la luce era buona, e separò la luce dalle tenebre.
5 God cal ed light 'day', and darkness he called 'night'. Evening came and morning came: the first day.	5 E diede il nome di Giorno alla luce e di Notte alle tenebre. Così della sera e della mattina si compì il primo giorno.
6 God said, 'Let there be a vault through the middle of the waters to divide the waters in two.' And so itwas.	6 E Dio disse: « Sia il firmamento nel mezzo delle acque, e separi le acque dalle acque ».
7 God made the vault, and it divided the waters under the vault from the waters above the vault.	7 E Dio fece il firmamento, e separò le acque che eran sotto il firmamento da quelle che eran sopra il firmamento. E così fu.
8 God cal ed the vault 'heaven'. Evening came and morning came: the second day.	8 E Dio chiamò Cielo il firmamento. Così della sera della mattina si compì il secondo giorno.
9 God said, 'Let the waters under heaven come together into a single mass, and let dry land appear.' Andso it was.	9 Poi disse Dio: «Le acque che sono sotto il cielo si radunino in un sol luogo, e apparisca l'asciutto ». E così fu.
10 God cal ed the dry land 'earth' and the mass of waters 'seas', and God saw that it was good.	10 E Dio chiamò Terra l'asciutto, e Mare l'ammasso delle acque.
11 God said, 'Let the earth produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants, and fruit trees on earth, bearing fruitwith their seed inside, each corresponding to its own species.' And so it was.	11 Dio vide che ciò era buono. Quindi disse: «Produca la terra erba verdeggiante che faccia seme, e piante fruttifere che dian frutto secondo la loro specie ed abbiano in se stesse la propria semenza sopra la terra ». E così fu.
12 The earth produced vegetation: the various kinds of seed-bearing plants and the fruit trees with seedinside, each corresponding to its own species. God saw that it was good.	12 E la terra produsse erba ver deggiante che fa seme secondo la sua specie, e piante che dan frutto ed han ciascuna la semenza secondo la propria specie. E Dio vide che ciò era buono.
13 Evening came and morning came: the third day.	13 E della sera e della mattina si compì il terzo giorno.
14 God said, 'Let there be lights in the vault of heaven to divide day from night, and let them indicatefestivals, days and years.	14 E Dio disse: « Vi sian dei luminari nel firmamento del cielo, per distinguere il giorno dalla notte e sian segni dei tempi, dei giorni e degli anni,
15 Let them be lights in the vault of heaven to shine on the earth.' And so it was.	15 e risplendano nel firmamento del cielo per illuminare la terra ». E così fu.
16 God made the two great lights: the greater light to govern the day, the smal er light to govern thenight, and the stars.	16 E Dio fece i due grandi luminari: il luminare maggiore, affinchè presiedesse al giorno; il luminare minore, affinchè presiedesse alla notte; e fece pure le stelle.
17 God set them in the vault of heaven to shine on the earth,	17 E le mise nel firmamento del cielo, perchè dessero luce alla terra
18 to govern the day and the night and to divide light from darkness. God saw that it was good.	18 se presiedessero al giorno e alla notte e separassero la luce dalle tenebre. E Dio vide che ciò era buono.
19 Evening came and morning came: the fourth day.	19 E della sera e della mattina si compì il quarto giorno.
20 God said, 'Let the waters be alive with a swarm of living creatures, and let birds wing their way abovethe earth across the vault of heaven.' And so it was.	20 Disse ancora Dio: «Producan le acque rettili animati e viventi e uccelli che volino sopra la terra, sotto la volta del cielo ».
21 God created great sea-monsters and al the creatures that glide and teem in the waters in their ownspecies, and winged birds in their own species. God saw that it was good.	21 E Dio creò i grandi Mostri marini e tutti gli animali che hanno vita e moto, prodotti, secondo la loro specie, dalle acque, ed ogni volatile secondo la sua specie. E Dio vide che ciò era buono.
22 God blessed them, saying, 'Be fruitful, multiply, and fil the waters of the seas; and let the birdsmultiply on land.'	22 E li benedisse, dicendo: « Crescete e moltiplicatevi, e popolate le acque del mare, e si moltiplichino gli uccelli sopra la terra ».
23 Evening came and morning came: the fifth day.	23 E della sera e della mattina si compì il quinto giorno.
24 God said, 'Let the earth produce every kind of living creature in its own species: cattle, creeping thingsand wild animals of al kinds.' And so it was.	24 Disse ancora Dio: « Produca la terra animali viventi secondo la loro specie, animali domestici, e rettili e bestie selvatiche della terra, secondo la loro specie ». E così fu.
25 God made wild animals in their own species, and cattle in theirs, and every creature that crawls alongthe earth in its own species. God saw that it was good.	25 E Dio fece le bestie selvatiche, secondo la loro specie, e gli animali domestici, e tutti i rettili della terra, secondo la loro specie. E Dio vide che ciò era buono.
26 God said, 'Let us make man in our own image, in the likeness of ourselves, and let them be mastersof the fish of the sea, the birds of heaven, the cattle, al the wild animals and al the creatures that creep alongthe ground.'	26 Poi Dio disse: « Facciamo l'Uomo a nostra imagine e somiglianza, chè domini i pesci del mare, i volatili del cielo, le bestie, e tutta la terra, e tutti i rettili che strisciano sopra la terra ».
27 God created man in the image of himself, in the image of God he created him, male and female hecreated them.	27 Dio creò l'uomo a sua imagine, lo creò a imagine di Dio, li creò maschio e femmina.
28 God blessed them, saying to them, 'Be fruitful, multiply, fil the earth and subdue it. Be masters of thefish of the sea, the birds of heaven and al the living creatures that move on earth.'	28 E Dio li benedì e disse loro: « Crescete e moltiplicatevi, e riempite la terra e rendetevela soggetta, e dominate sui pesci del mare, e sui volatili del cielo, e sopra tutti gli animali che si muovono sulla terra ».
29 God also said, 'Look, to you I give all the seed-bearing plants everywhere on the surface of the earth,and all the trees with seed-bearing fruit; this wil be your food.	29 E Dio disse: «Ecco io vi ho dato tutte le erbe che fanno seme sulla terra e tutte le piante che hanno in se stesse semenza della loro specie, perchè servano di cibo a voi,
30 And to al the wild animals, al the birds of heaven and al the living creatures that creep along theground, I give all the foliage of the plants as their food.' And so it was.	30 e a tutti gli animali della terra, e a tutti gli uccelli del cielo e a quanto si muove sulla terra ed ha in sè anima vivente, affinchè abbiano da mangiare ». E così fu.
31 God saw al he had made, and indeed it was very good. Evening came and morning came: the sixthday.	31 E Dio vide tutte le cose che aveva fatte; ed esse erano molto buone. Così della sera e della mattina si compì il sesto giorno.
