NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 In the beginning God created heaven and earth.	1 No princípio, Deus criou os céus e a terra.
2 Now the earth was a formless void, there was darkness over the deep, with a divine wind sweepingover the waters.	2 A terra estava informe e vazia; as trevas cobriam o abismo e o Espírito de Deus pairava sobre as águas.
3 God said, 'Let there be light,' and there was light.	3 Deus disse: "Faça-se a luz!" E a luz foi feita.
4 God saw that light was good, and God divided light from darkness.	4 Deus viu que a luz era boa, e separou a luz das trevas.
5 God cal ed light 'day', and darkness he called 'night'. Evening came and morning came: the first day.	5 Deus chamou à luz DIA, e às trevas NOITE. Sobreveio a tarde e depois a manhã: foi o primeiro dia.
6 God said, 'Let there be a vault through the middle of the waters to divide the waters in two.' And so itwas.	6 Deus disse: "Faça-se um firmamento entre as águas, e separe ele umas das outras".
7 God made the vault, and it divided the waters under the vault from the waters above the vault.	7 Deus fez o firmamento e separou as águas que estavam debaixo do firmamento daquelas que estavam por cima.
8 God cal ed the vault 'heaven'. Evening came and morning came: the second day.	8 E assim se fez. Deus chamou ao firmamento CÉUS. Sobreveio a tarde e depois a manhã: foi o segundo dia.
9 God said, 'Let the waters under heaven come together into a single mass, and let dry land appear.' Andso it was.	9 Deus disse: "Que as águas que estão debaixo dos céus se ajuntem num mesmo lugar, e apareça o elemento árido." E assim se fez.
10 God cal ed the dry land 'earth' and the mass of waters 'seas', and God saw that it was good.	10 Deus chamou ao elemento árido TERRA, e ao ajuntamento das águas MAR. E Deus viu que isso era bom.
11 God said, 'Let the earth produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants, and fruit trees on earth, bearing fruitwith their seed inside, each corresponding to its own species.' And so it was.	11 Deus disse: "Produza a terra plantas, ervas que contenham semente e árvores frutíferas que dêem fruto segundo a sua espécie e o fruto contenha a sua semente." E assim foi feito.
12 The earth produced vegetation: the various kinds of seed-bearing plants and the fruit trees with seedinside, each corresponding to its own species. God saw that it was good.	12 A terra produziu plantas, ervas que contêm semente segundo a sua espécie, e árvores que produzem fruto segundo a sua espécie, contendo o fruto a sua semente. E Deus viu que isso era bom.
13 Evening came and morning came: the third day.	13 Sobreveio a tarde e depois a manhã: foi o terceiro dia.
14 God said, 'Let there be lights in the vault of heaven to divide day from night, and let them indicatefestivals, days and years.	14 Deus disse: "Façam-se luzeiros no firmamento dos céus para separar o dia da noite; sirvam eles de sinais e marquem o tempo, os dias e os anos,
15 Let them be lights in the vault of heaven to shine on the earth.' And so it was.	15 e resplandeçam no firmamento dos céus para iluminar a terra". E assim se fez.
16 God made the two great lights: the greater light to govern the day, the smal er light to govern thenight, and the stars.	16 Deus fez os dois grandes luzeiros: o maior para presidir ao dia, e o menor para presidir à noite; e fez também as estrelas.
17 God set them in the vault of heaven to shine on the earth,	17 Deus colocou-os no firmamento dos céus para que iluminassem a terra,
18 to govern the day and the night and to divide light from darkness. God saw that it was good.	18 presidissem ao dia e à noite, e separassem a luz das trevas. E Deus viu que isso era bom.
19 Evening came and morning came: the fourth day.	19 Sobreveio a tarde e depois a manhã: foi o quarto dia.
20 God said, 'Let the waters be alive with a swarm of living creatures, and let birds wing their way abovethe earth across the vault of heaven.' And so it was.	20 Deus disse: "Pululem as águas de uma multidão de seres vivos, e voem aves sobre a terra, debaixo do firmamento dos céus."
21 God created great sea-monsters and al the creatures that glide and teem in the waters in their ownspecies, and winged birds in their own species. God saw that it was good.	21 Deus criou os monstros marinhos e toda a multidão de seres vivos que enchem as águas, segundo a sua espécie, e todas as aves segundo a sua espécie. E Deus viu que isso era bom.
22 God blessed them, saying, 'Be fruitful, multiply, and fil the waters of the seas; and let the birdsmultiply on land.'	22 E Deus os abençoou: "Frutificai, disse ele, e multiplicai-vos, e enchei as águas do mar, e que as aves se multipliquem sobre a terra."
23 Evening came and morning came: the fifth day.	23 Sobreveio a tarde e depois a manhã: foi o quinto dia.
24 God said, 'Let the earth produce every kind of living creature in its own species: cattle, creeping thingsand wild animals of al kinds.' And so it was.	24 Deus disse: "Produza a terra seres vivos segundo a sua espécie: animais domésticos, répteis e animais selvagens, segundo a sua espécie." E assim se fez.
25 God made wild animals in their own species, and cattle in theirs, and every creature that crawls alongthe earth in its own species. God saw that it was good.	25 Deus fez os animais selvagens segundo a sua espécie, os animais domésticos igualmente, e da mesma forma todos os animais, que se arrastam sobre a terra. E Deus viu que isso era bom.
26 God said, 'Let us make man in our own image, in the likeness of ourselves, and let them be mastersof the fish of the sea, the birds of heaven, the cattle, al the wild animals and al the creatures that creep alongthe ground.'	26 Então Deus disse: "Façamos o homem à nossa imagem e semelhança. Que ele reine sobre os peixes do mar, sobre as aves dos céus, sobre os animais domésticos e sobre toda a terra, e sobre todos os répteis que se arrastem sobre a terra."
27 God created man in the image of himself, in the image of God he created him, male and female hecreated them.	27 Deus criou o homem à sua imagem; criou-o à imagem de Deus, criou o homem e a mulher.
28 God blessed them, saying to them, 'Be fruitful, multiply, fil the earth and subdue it. Be masters of thefish of the sea, the birds of heaven and al the living creatures that move on earth.'	28 Deus os abençoou: "Frutificai, disse ele, e multiplicai-vos, enchei a terra e submetei-a. Dominai sobre os peixes do mar, sobre as aves dos céus e sobre todos os animais que se arrastam sobre a terra."
29 God also said, 'Look, to you I give all the seed-bearing plants everywhere on the surface of the earth,and all the trees with seed-bearing fruit; this wil be your food.	29 Deus disse: "Eis que eu vos dou toda a erva que dá semente sobre a terra, e todas as árvores frutíferas que contêm em si mesmas a sua semente, para que vos sirvam de alimento.
30 And to al the wild animals, al the birds of heaven and al the living creatures that creep along theground, I give all the foliage of the plants as their food.' And so it was.	30 E a todos os animais da terra, a todas as aves dos céus, a tudo o que se arrasta sobre a terra, e em que haja sopro de vida, eu dou toda erva verde por alimento." E assim se fez.
31 God saw al he had made, and indeed it was very good. Evening came and morning came: the sixthday.	31 Deus contemplou toda a sua obra, e viu que tudo era muito bom. Sobreveio a tarde e depois a manhã: foi o sexto dia.
