NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 In the beginning God created heaven and earth.	1 In principio Dio creò il cielo e la terra.
2 Now the earth was a formless void, there was darkness over the deep, with a divine wind sweepingover the waters.	2 Ma la terra era deserta e disadorna e v'era tenebra sulla superficie dell'oceano e lo spirito di Dio era sulla superficie delle acque.
3 God said, 'Let there be light,' and there was light.	3 Dio allora ordinò: "Vi sia luce". E vi fu luce.
4 God saw that light was good, and God divided light from darkness.	4 E Dio vide che la luce era buona e separò la luce dalla tenebra.
5 God cal ed light 'day', and darkness he called 'night'. Evening came and morning came: the first day.	5 E Dio chiamò la luce giorno e la tenebra notte. Poi venne sera, poi venne mattina: un giorno.
6 God said, 'Let there be a vault through the middle of the waters to divide the waters in two.' And so itwas.	6 Dio disse ancora: "Vi sia un firmamento in mezzo alle acque che tenga separate le acque dalle acque". E avvenne così.
7 God made the vault, and it divided the waters under the vault from the waters above the vault.	7 Dio fece il firmamento e separò le acque che sono sotto il firmamento dalle acque che sono sopra il firmamento.
8 God cal ed the vault 'heaven'. Evening came and morning came: the second day.	8 E Dio chiamò il firmamento cielo. Di nuovo venne sera, poi mattina: secondo giorno.
9 God said, 'Let the waters under heaven come together into a single mass, and let dry land appear.' Andso it was.	9 E Dio ordinò: "Le acque che sono sotto il cielo si accumulino in una sola massa e appaia l'asciutto". E avvenne così.
10 God cal ed the dry land 'earth' and the mass of waters 'seas', and God saw that it was good.	10 Dio poi chiamò l'asciutto terra e alla massa delle acque diede il nome di mari. E Dio vide che questo era buono.
11 God said, 'Let the earth produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants, and fruit trees on earth, bearing fruitwith their seed inside, each corresponding to its own species.' And so it was.	11 Dio comandò ancora: "La terra faccia germogliare la verdura, le graminacee produttrici di semenza e gli alberi da frutto, che producano sulla terra un frutto contenente il proprio seme, ciascuno secondo la propria specie". E così avvenne.
12 The earth produced vegetation: the various kinds of seed-bearing plants and the fruit trees with seedinside, each corresponding to its own species. God saw that it was good.	12 La terra produsse verdura, graminacee che facevano semenza secondo la propria specie e alberi che portavano frutto contenente il proprio seme, ciascuno secondo la propria specie. Poi Dio vide che questo era buono.
13 Evening came and morning came: the third day.	13 Così venne sera, poi mattina: terzo giorno.
14 God said, 'Let there be lights in the vault of heaven to divide day from night, and let them indicatefestivals, days and years.	14 Di nuovo Dio ordinò: "Vi siano delle lampade nel firmamento del cielo, per separare il giorno dalla notte; siano segni per feste, per giorni e per anni,
15 Let them be lights in the vault of heaven to shine on the earth.' And so it was.	15 e facciano da lampade nel firmamento del cielo, per illuminare la terra". E avvenne così.
16 God made the two great lights: the greater light to govern the day, the smal er light to govern thenight, and the stars.	16 Dio fece le due lampade maggiori, la lampada grande per il governo del giorno, e la lampada piccola per il governo della notte, e le stelle.
17 God set them in the vault of heaven to shine on the earth,	17 Poi Dio le pose nel firmamento del cielo per illuminare la terra,
18 to govern the day and the night and to divide light from darkness. God saw that it was good.	18 per governare il giorno e la notte e per la separazione tra la luce e la tenebra. E Dio vide che era buono.
19 Evening came and morning came: the fourth day.	19 E venne sera, poi mattina: quarto giorno.
20 God said, 'Let the waters be alive with a swarm of living creatures, and let birds wing their way abovethe earth across the vault of heaven.' And so it was.	20 E Dio disse: "Brulichino le acque d'un brulichio d'esseri viventi, e volatili volino sopra la terra, sullo sfondo del firmamento del cielo". E così avvenne;
21 God created great sea-monsters and al the creatures that glide and teem in the waters in their ownspecies, and winged birds in their own species. God saw that it was good.	21 Dio creò i grandi cetacei e tutti gli esseri viventi guizzanti, di cui brulicano le acque, secondo le loro specie, e tutti i volatili alati, secondo la loro specie. E Dio vide che era buono.
22 God blessed them, saying, 'Be fruitful, multiply, and fil the waters of the seas; and let the birdsmultiply on land.'	22 Allora Dio li benedisse dicendo: "Siate fecondi, moltiplicatevi e riempite le acque dei mari; e i volatili si moltiplichino sulla terra".
23 Evening came and morning came: the fifth day.	23 E venne sera, poi mattina: quinto giorno.
24 God said, 'Let the earth produce every kind of living creature in its own species: cattle, creeping thingsand wild animals of al kinds.' And so it was.	24 Di nuovo Dio ordinò: "La terra produca esseri viventi, secondo la loro specie: bestiame e rettili e fiere della terra, secondo la loro specie". E avvenne così.
25 God made wild animals in their own species, and cattle in theirs, and every creature that crawls alongthe earth in its own species. God saw that it was good.	25 Dio fece le fiere della terra, secondo la loro specie e il bestiame, secondo la propria specie e tutti i rettili del suolo secondo la loro specie. E Dio vide che era buono.
26 God said, 'Let us make man in our own image, in the likeness of ourselves, and let them be mastersof the fish of the sea, the birds of heaven, the cattle, al the wild animals and al the creatures that creep alongthe ground.'	26 Finalmente Dio disse: "Facciamo l'uomo secondo la nostra immagine, come nostra somiglianza, affinché possa dominare sui pesci del mare e sui volatili del cielo, sul bestiame e sulle fiere della terra e su tutti i rettili che strisciano sulla terra".
27 God created man in the image of himself, in the image of God he created him, male and female hecreated them.	27 Dio creò gli uomini secondo la sua immagine; a immagine di Dio li creò; maschio e femmina li creò.
28 God blessed them, saying to them, 'Be fruitful, multiply, fil the earth and subdue it. Be masters of thefish of the sea, the birds of heaven and al the living creatures that move on earth.'	28 Quindi Dio li benedisse e disse loro: "Siate fecondi e moltiplicatevi, riempite la terra e soggiogatela, e abbiate dominio sui pesci del mare, sui volatili del cielo, sul bestiame e su ogni essere vivente che striscia sulla terra".
29 God also said, 'Look, to you I give all the seed-bearing plants everywhere on the surface of the earth,and all the trees with seed-bearing fruit; this wil be your food.	29 Poi Dio disse: "Ecco, io vi do ogni sorta di graminacee produttrici di semenza, che sono sulla superficie di tutta la terra, e anche ogni sorta di alberi in cui vi sono frutti portatori di seme: essi costituiranno il vostro nutrimento.
30 And to al the wild animals, al the birds of heaven and al the living creatures that creep along theground, I give all the foliage of the plants as their food.' And so it was.	30 Ma a tutte le fiere della terra, a tutti i volatili del cielo e a tutti gli esseri striscianti sulla terra e nei quali vi è l'alito di vita, io do come nutrimento l'erba verde". E così avvenne.
31 God saw al he had made, and indeed it was very good. Evening came and morning came: the sixthday.	31 Dio vide tutto quello che aveva fatto, ed ecco che era molto buono. E venne sera, poi mattina: sesto giorno.
