NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 In the beginning God created heaven and earth.	1 In principio, creò Dio il cielo e la terra.
2 Now the earth was a formless void, there was darkness over the deep, with a divine wind sweepingover the waters.	2 La terra però era informe e vuota, e sulla faccia dell'abisso eran tenebre, e lo spirito di Dio si librava sulle acque.
3 God said, 'Let there be light,' and there was light.	3 Disse Dio: «Si faccia la luce». E la luce fu.
4 God saw that light was good, and God divided light from darkness.	4 Vide Dio che la luce era buona, e la divise dalle tenebre.
5 God cal ed light 'day', and darkness he called 'night'. Evening came and morning came: the first day.	5 E chiamò giorno la luce, e notte le tenebre. E tra sera e mattina si compì un giorno.
6 God said, 'Let there be a vault through the middle of the waters to divide the waters in two.' And so itwas.	6 Disse ancora Dio: «Si faccia il firmamento in mezzo alle acque, e divida acque da acque».
7 God made the vault, and it divided the waters under the vault from the waters above the vault.	7 Fece Dio il firmamento, e divise le acque sotto il firmamento da quelle che erano sopra. Così fu.
8 God cal ed the vault 'heaven'. Evening came and morning came: the second day.	8 Dio chiamò cielo il firmamento. E tra sera e mattina si compì il secondo giorno.
9 God said, 'Let the waters under heaven come together into a single mass, and let dry land appear.' Andso it was.	9 Disse poi Dio: «si radunino in un sol luogo le acque che sono sotto il cielo, ed apparisca l'asciutto». E così fu.
10 God cal ed the dry land 'earth' and the mass of waters 'seas', and God saw that it was good.	10 E Dio chiamò terra l'asciutto, e mari la riunione delle acque. E vide Dio che era cosa buona.
11 God said, 'Let the earth produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants, and fruit trees on earth, bearing fruitwith their seed inside, each corresponding to its own species.' And so it was.	11 E disse: «La terra germogli erba verdeggiante che faccia il seme, ed alberi fruttiferi che facciano frutti secondo il loro genere, ed abbiano in se stessi il proprio seme sopra la terra». Così fu fatto.
12 The earth produced vegetation: the various kinds of seed-bearing plants and the fruit trees with seedinside, each corresponding to its own species. God saw that it was good.	12 E la terra produsse erba verdeggiante che facesse il seme secondo il genere suo, ed alberi facenti frutto, aventi ciascuno il seme secondo la propria specie. E vide Dio che era cosa buona.
13 Evening came and morning came: the third day.	13 E tra sera e mattina si compì il giorno terzo.
14 God said, 'Let there be lights in the vault of heaven to divide day from night, and let them indicatefestivals, days and years.	14 Disse poi Dio: «Si facciano dei luminari nel firmamento celeste, e dividano il giorno dalla notte, e contrassegnino le stagioni, e i giorni e gli anni,
15 Let them be lights in the vault of heaven to shine on the earth.' And so it was.	15 sicché risplendano nel firmamento celeste, ed illuminino la terra». Così fu fatto.
16 God made the two great lights: the greater light to govern the day, the smal er light to govern thenight, and the stars.	16 E fece Dio due luminari grandi: il luminare più grande che presedesse al giorno, e il luminare più piccolo che presedesse alla notte; e le stelle.
17 God set them in the vault of heaven to shine on the earth,	17 E le pose nel firmamento celeste, perché lucessero sopra la terra,
18 to govern the day and the night and to divide light from darkness. God saw that it was good.	18 presedessero al giorno ed alla notte, e dividessero la luce dalle tenebre. E Dio vide che era cosa buona.
19 Evening came and morning came: the fourth day.	19 E tra sera e mattina si compì il quarto giorno.
20 God said, 'Let the waters be alive with a swarm of living creatures, and let birds wing their way abovethe earth across the vault of heaven.' And so it was.	20 Disse ancora Dio: «Producano le acque vivi animali striscianti, e volanti sopra la terra, sotto il firmamento celeste».
21 God created great sea-monsters and al the creatures that glide and teem in the waters in their ownspecies, and winged birds in their own species. God saw that it was good.	21 E creò Dio i grandi mostri marini, ed ogni animale vivente e moventesi, prodotto dalle acque secondo la sua specie, ed ogni volatile secondo il suo genere. Vide Dio che era una buona cosa,
22 God blessed them, saying, 'Be fruitful, multiply, and fil the waters of the seas; and let the birdsmultiply on land.'	22 e li benedisse dicendo: «Crescete e moltiplicatevi, e popolate le acque del mare, e si moltiplichino gli uccelli sopra la terra».
23 Evening came and morning came: the fifth day.	23 E tra sera e mattina si compì il giorno quinto.
24 God said, 'Let the earth produce every kind of living creature in its own species: cattle, creeping thingsand wild animals of al kinds.' And so it was.	24 Disse pure Dio: «Produca la terra animali viventi nel loro genere, giumenti e rettili e bestie terrestri secondo la loro specie». Così fu.
25 God made wild animals in their own species, and cattle in theirs, and every creature that crawls alongthe earth in its own species. God saw that it was good.	25 E fece Dio gli animali terrestri secondo le loro specie, ed i giumenti di tutti i rettili terrestri nel loro genere. E vide Dio che era cosa buona.
26 God said, 'Let us make man in our own image, in the likeness of ourselves, and let them be mastersof the fish of the sea, the birds of heaven, the cattle, al the wild animals and al the creatures that creep alongthe ground.'	26 E disse: «Facciamo l'uomo a nostra immagine e somiglianza; e presieda ai pesci del mare ed ai volatili del cielo ed alle bestie di tutta la terra, e ad ogni rettile che in terra si muove».
27 God created man in the image of himself, in the image of God he created him, male and female hecreated them.	27 E creò Iddio l'uomo ad immagine sua; ad immagine di Dio lo creò; maschio e femmina li creò.
28 God blessed them, saying to them, 'Be fruitful, multiply, fil the earth and subdue it. Be masters of thefish of the sea, the birds of heaven and al the living creatures that move on earth.'	28 E li benedisse Dio, dicendo: «Crescete e moltiplicatevi, e popolate la terra, ed assoggettatevela, e signoreggiate i pesci del mare e i volatili del cielo, e tutti gli animali che si muovono sulla terra».
29 God also said, 'Look, to you I give all the seed-bearing plants everywhere on the surface of the earth,and all the trees with seed-bearing fruit; this wil be your food.	29 Poi disse: «Ecco, io v'ho dato ogni erba che fa il seme sopra la terra, e tutti gli alberi che producono in se medesimi i semi del loro genere, acciò vi servano di cibo;
30 And to al the wild animals, al the birds of heaven and al the living creatures that creep along theground, I give all the foliage of the plants as their food.' And so it was.	30 ed a tutti gli animali della terra, e ad ogni volatile dell'aria, e a tutti quelli che si muovono sulla terra e ne' quali è un'anima vivente [li ho dati] affinché abbiano da cibarsi». Così fu fatto.
31 God saw al he had made, and indeed it was very good. Evening came and morning came: the sixthday.	31 E vide Dio tutte le opere sue, ed erano grandemente buone. E tra sera e mattina si compì il giorno sesto.
