1 The following were the descendants of Aaron and Moses at the time that the LORD spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai.	1 Queste sono le generazioni di Aronne e Mosè, nel giorno in cui il Signore parlò a Mosè sul monte Sinai.
2 The sons of Aaron were Nadab his first-born, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.	2 Questi sono i nomi dei figli di Aronne: Nadab, il primogenito, Abiu, Eleazaro e Itamar.
3 These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the anointed priests who were ordained to exercise the priesthood.	3 Questi sono i nomi dei figli di Aronne, unti sacerdoti, le cui mani erano state riempite per il sacerdozio.
4 But when Nadab and Abihu offered profane fire before the LORD in the desert of Sinai, they met death in the presence of the LORD, and left no sons. Thereafter only Eleazar and Ithamar performed the priestly functions under the direction of their father Aaron.	4 Nadab e Abiu morirono alla presenza del Signore, mentre offrivano fuoco profano davanti al Signore nel deserto del Sinai: non ebbero figli, e furono sacerdoti Eleazaro e Itamar, alla presenza di Aronne, loro padre.
5 Now the LORD said to Moses:	5 Il Signore disse a Mosè:
6 "Summon the tribe of Levi and present them to Aaron the priest, as his assistants.	6 "Fa' avvicinare la tribù di Levi: la farai stare davanti ad Aronne, sacerdote, perché lo serva.
7 They shall discharge his obligations and those of the whole community before the meeting tent by serving at the Dwelling.	7 Custodiranno il suo servizio e il servizio di tutta la comunità davanti alla tenda del convegno, per fare il lavoro della dimora.
8 They shall have custody of all the furnishings of the meeting tent and discharge the duties of the Israelites in the service of the Dwelling.	8 Custodiranno tutti gli arredi della tenda del convegno e il servizio dei figli d'Israele per fare il lavoro della dimora.
9 You shall give the Levites to Aaron and his sons; they have been set aside from among the Israelites as dedicated to me.	9 Darai i leviti ad Aronne e ai suoi figli come "donati": essi saranno per lui "donati" da parte dei figli d'Israele.
10 But only Aaron and his descendants shall you appoint to have charge of the priestly functions. Any layman who comes near shall be put to death."	10 Designerai poi Aronne e i suoi figli, perché custodiscano il proprio sacerdozio: ogni estraneo che si avvicinerà sarà messo a morte".
11 The LORD said to Moses,	11 Il Signore disse a Mosè:
12 "It is I who have chosen the Levites from the Israelites in place of every first-born that opens the womb among the Israelites. The Levites, therefore, are mine,	12 "Ecco, io ho preso i leviti tra i figli d'Israele al posto di ogni primogenito, che apre il grembo tra i figli d'Israele, e saranno leviti per me:
13 because every first-born is mine. When I slew all the first-born in the land of Egypt, I made all the first-born in Israel sacred to me, both of man and of beast. They belong to me; I am the LORD."	13 perché mio è ogni primogenito. Nel giorno in cui colpii tutti i primogeniti nella terra d'Egitto, feci santificare per me ogni primogenito in Israele: dall'uomo all'animale; sono miei. Io sono il Signore".
14 The LORD said to Moses in the desert of Sinai,	14 Il Signore ordinò a Mosè nel deserto del Sinai:
15 "Take a census of the Levites by ancestral houses and clans, registering every male of a month or more."	15 "Passa in rassegna i figli di Levi, secondo le loro case paterne, le loro famiglie: registrerai ogni maschio da un mese in su".
16 Moses, therefore, took their census in accordance with the command the LORD had given him.	16 Mosè li registrò secondo la parola del Signore, come aveva ordinato.
17 The sons of Levi were named Gershon, Kohath and Merari.	17 Questi furono i figli di Levi secondo i loro nomi: Gherson, Keat e Merari.
18 The descendants of Gershon, by clans, were named Libni and Shimei.	18 Questi sono i nomi dei figli di Gherson: Libni e Simei.
19 The descendants of Kohath, by clans, were Amram, Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel.	19 I figli di Keat, secondo le loro famiglie: Amram, Isear, Ebron e Uzziel.
20 The descendants of Merari, by clans, were Mahli and Mushi. These were the clans of the Levites by ancestral houses.	20 I figli di Merari, secondo le loro famiglie: Macli e Musi. Queste sono le famiglie di Levi, secondo le loro case paterne.
21 To Gershon belonged the clan of the Libnites and the clan of the Shimeites; these were the clans of the Gershonites.	21 Di Gherson è la famiglia di Libni e la famiglia di Simei: questo il nome delle famiglie di Gherson.
22 When all their males of a month or more were registered, they numbered seven thousand five hundred.	22 I loro recensiti, contando tutti i maschi da un mese in su: 7.50 0.

29 The clans of the Kohathites camped at the south side of the Dwelling.	29 Le famiglie dei figli di Keat si accamperanno nel fianco a sud della dimora.

31 They had charge of whatever pertained to the ark, the table, the lampstand, the altars, the utensils with which the ministry of the sanctuary was exercised, and the veil.	31 Loro cura è l'arca, la mensa, il candelabro, gli altari, gli arredi del santuario, di cui si servono, il velo e tutto il suo materiale.

34 When all their males of a month or more were registered, they numbered six thousand two hundred.	34 I loro recensiti, contando tutti i maschi da un mese in su: 6.200.
35 The prince of the ancestral house of the clans of Merari was Zuriel, son of Abihail. They camped at the north side of the Dwelling.	35 Il capo della casa paterna, secondo le famiglie di Merari, è Suriel, figlio di Abicail: si accamperanno nella parte a nord della dimora.
36 The Merarites were charged with the care of whatever pertained to the boards of the Dwelling, its bars, columns, pedestals, and all its fittings,	36 Compito dei figli di Merari era curare le assi della dimora, le sue stanghe, le sue colonne, i suoi basamenti, tutti i suoi arredi e tutto il loro mantenimento;

38 East of the Dwelling, that is, in front of the meeting tent, toward the sunrise, were camped Moses and Aaron and the latter's sons. They discharged the obligations of the sanctuary for the Israelites. 40 The LORD then said to Moses, "Take a census of all the first-born males of the Israelites a month old or more, and compute their total number.	40 Il Signore disse a Mosè: "Fa' il censimento di tutti i primogeniti maschi tra i figli d'Israele, da un mese in su, e preleva il numero dei loro nomi:
41 Then assign the Levites to me, the LORD, in place of all the first-born of the Israelites, as well as their cattle in place of all the first-born among the cattle of the Israelites."	41 prenderai i leviti per me -- io sono il Signore -- al posto di ogni maschio dei figli d'Israele e il bestiame dei leviti al posto di ogni primogenito del bestiame dei figli d'Israele".
42 So Moses took a census of all the first-born of the Israelites, as the LORD had commanded him.	42 Mosè fece il censimento, come gli aveva ordinato il Signore, di ogni primogenito dei figli d'Israele.
43 When all the first-born males of a month or more were registered, they numbered twenty-two thousand two hundred and seventy-three.	43 Ogni primogenito maschio, contando i nomi da un mese in su, secondo il loro censimento: 22.273.
44 The LORD said to Moses:	44 Il Signore ordinò a Mosè:
45 "Take the Levites in place of all the first-born of the Israelites, and the Levites' cattle in place of their cattle, that the Levites may belong to me. I am the LORD.	45 "Prendi i leviti al posto di ogni primogenito dei figli d'Israele e il bestiame dei leviti al posto del loro bestiame: miei saranno i leviti -- io sono il Signore. --
46 As ransom for the two hundred and seventy-three first-born of the Israelites who outnumber the Levites,	46 Come prezzo di riscatto dei 27 3 che eccedono i leviti tra i primogeniti dei figli d'Israele,
47 you shall take five shekels for each individual, according to the standard of the sanctuary shekel, twenty gerahs to the shekel.	47 prenderai cinque sicli a testa: prenderai del siclo del santuario, di venti ghera per siclo.

50 From the first-born of the Israelites he received in silver one thousand three hundred and sixty-five shekels according to the sanctuary standard.	50 dai primogeniti dei figli d'Israele prese in denaro 1.365 sicli del santuario.
51 He then gave this ransom silver to Aaron and his sons, as the LORD had commanded him.	51 Mosè diede il denaro del prezzo del riscatto ad Aronne e ai suoi figli, come il Signore gli aveva ordinato.
