1 The following were the descendants of Aaron and Moses at the time that the LORD spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai.	1 Das ist die Geschlechterfolge nach Aaron und Mose, zu der Zeit, als der Herr mit Mose auf dem Sinai redete.
2 The sons of Aaron were Nadab his first-born, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.	2 Das waren die Namen der Söhne Aarons: Nadab als Erstgeborener, dann Abihu, Eleasar und Itamar.
3 These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the anointed priests who were ordained to exercise the priesthood.	3 Das waren die Namen der Söhne Aarons, der gesalbten Priester, die man ins Priesteramt eingesetzt hatte.
4 But when Nadab and Abihu offered profane fire before the LORD in the desert of Sinai, they met death in the presence of the LORD, and left no sons. Thereafter only Eleazar and Ithamar performed the priestly functions under the direction of their father Aaron.	4 Nadab und Abihu waren vor den Augen des Herrn gestorben, als sie in der Wüste Sinai dem Herrn ein unrechtmäßiges Feueropfer darbrachten. Sie hatten keine Söhne und so versahen dann Eleasar und Itamar unter der Aufsicht ihres Vaters Aaron den Priesterdienst.
5 Now the LORD said to Moses:	5 Der Herr sprach zu Mose:
6 "Summon the tribe of Levi and present them to Aaron the priest, as his assistants.	6 Lass den Stamm Levi vor dem Priester Aaron antreten, damit sie ihm dienen.
7 They shall discharge his obligations and those of the whole community before the meeting tent by serving at the Dwelling.	7 Sie sollen auf seine Anordnungen achten und in der ganzen Gemeinde vor dem Offenbarungszelt für Ordnung sorgen, wenn sie an der Wohnstätte Dienst tun.
8 They shall have custody of all the furnishings of the meeting tent and discharge the duties of the Israelites in the service of the Dwelling.	8 Sie sollen alle Geräte des Offenbarungszeltes in Ordnung halten und bei den Israeliten für Ordnung sorgen, wenn sie an der Wohnstätte Dienst tun.
9 You shall give the Levites to Aaron and his sons; they have been set aside from among the Israelites as dedicated to me.	9 Die Leviten sollst du Aaron und seinen Söhnen zuweisen; sie sollen unter den Israeliten ausschließlich für den Dienst bei Aaron bestimmt sein.
10 But only Aaron and his descendants shall you appoint to have charge of the priestly functions. Any layman who comes near shall be put to death."	10 Aaron und seine Söhne aber sollst du beauftragen, den Priesterdienst zu versehen. Wer unbefugt daran teilnimmt, wird mit dem Tod bestraft.
11 The LORD said to Moses,	11 Der Herr sprach zu Mose:
12 "It is I who have chosen the Levites from the Israelites in place of every first-born that opens the womb among the Israelites. The Levites, therefore, are mine,	12 Hiermit nehme ich die Leviten als Ersatz für alle erstgeborenen Israeliten, die den Mutterschoß durchbrechen. Die Leviten gehören mir;
13 because every first-born is mine. When I slew all the first-born in the land of Egypt, I made all the first-born in Israel sacred to me, both of man and of beast. They belong to me; I am the LORD."	13 denn alle Erstgeborenen gehören mir. Als ich in Ägypten alle Erstgeborenen erschlug, habe ich alle Erstgeborenen in Israel mir geheiligt, bei den Menschen und beim Vieh. Mir gehören sie; ich bin der Herr.
14 The LORD said to Moses in the desert of Sinai,	14 Der Herr sprach in der Wüste Sinai zu Mose:
15 "Take a census of the Levites by ancestral houses and clans, registering every male of a month or more."	15 Mustere die Leviten nach ihren Großfamilien und Sippen! Alle männlichen Personen von einem Monat und darüber sollst du mustern.
16 Moses, therefore, took their census in accordance with the command the LORD had given him.	16 Da musterte sie Mose, wie ihm durch den Mund des Herrn befohlen worden war.
17 The sons of Levi were named Gershon, Kohath and Merari.	17 Das waren die Namen der Söhne Levis: Gerschon, Kehat und Merari.
18 The descendants of Gershon, by clans, were named Libni and Shimei.	18 Die Namen der Söhne Gerschons und ihrer Sippen waren Libni und Schimi,
19 The descendants of Kohath, by clans, were Amram, Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel.	19 die der Söhne Kehats und ihrer Sippen Amram, Jizhar, Hebron und Usiël,
20 The descendants of Merari, by clans, were Mahli and Mushi. These were the clans of the Levites by ancestral houses.	20 die der Söhne Meraris und ihrer Sippen Machli und Muschi. Das waren die Sippen des Stammes Levi, geordnet nach Großfamilien.
21 To Gershon belonged the clan of the Libnites and the clan of the Shimeites; these were the clans of the Gershonites.	21 Zu Gerschon gehörten die Sippe der Libniter und die Sippe der Schimiter; das waren die Sippen der Gerschoniter.
22 When all their males of a month or more were registered, they numbered seven thousand five hundred.	22 Die Zahl ihrer gemusterten männlichen Personen von einem Monat und darüber betrug im Ganzen 7500.
23 The clans of the Gershonites camped behind the Dwelling, to the west.	23 Die Sippen der Gerschoniter lagerten hinter der Wohnstätte gegen Westen.
24 The prince of their ancestral house was Eliasaph, son of Lael.	24 Anführer der Großfamilie der Gerschoniter war Eljasaf, der Sohn Laëls.
25 At the meeting tent they had charge of whatever pertained to the Dwelling, the tent and its covering, the curtain at the entrance of the meeting tent,	25 Die Gerschoniter hatten am Offenbarungszelt die Sorge für die Wohnstätte und das Zelt, für seine Decke und den Vorhang am Eingang des Offenbarungszeltes,
26 the hangings of the court, the curtain at the entrance of the court enclosing both the Dwelling and the altar, and the ropes.	26 für die Behänge des Vorhofs, für den Vorhang am Eingang des Vorhofs, der ringsum die Wohnstätte und den Altar umgibt, und für die Zeltstricke, je nachdem, wie es der Dienst erforderte.
27 To Kohath belonged the clans of the Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites, and the Uzzielites; these were the clans of the Kohathites.	27 Zu Kehat gehörten die Sippe der Amramiter, die Sippe der Jizhariter, die Sippe der Hebroniter und die Sippe der Usiëliter; das waren die Sippen der Kehatiter.
28 When all their males of a month or more were registered, they numbered eight thousand three hundred. They had charge of the sanctuary.	28 Die Zahl der männlichen Personen von einem Monat und darüber betrug im Ganzen 8600; sie hatten am Heiligtum Dienst zu tun.
29 The clans of the Kohathites camped at the south side of the Dwelling.	29 Die Sippen der Kehatiter lagerten an der Südseite der Wohnstätte.
30 The prince of their ancestral house was Elizaphan, son of Uzziel.	30 Familienoberhaupt der Sippen der Kehatiter war Elizafan, der Sohn Usiëls.
31 They had charge of whatever pertained to the ark, the table, the lampstand, the altars, the utensils with which the ministry of the sanctuary was exercised, and the veil.	31 Sie hatten die Sorge für die Lade, den Tisch, den Leuchter, die Altäre, die heiligen Geräte, mit denen sie ihren Dienst versahen, für den Vorhang und alles, was zu diesem Dienst gehörte.
32 The chief prince of the Levites, however, was Eleazar, son of Aaron the priest; he was supervisor over those who had charge of the sanctuary.	32 Der oberste Anführer der Leviten war der Priester Eleasar, der Sohn Aarons. Er war mit der Aufsicht derer betraut, die am Heiligtum Dienst zu tun hatten.
33 To Merari belonged the clans of the Mahlites and the Mushites; these were the clans of Merari.	33 Zu Merari gehörten die Sippe der Machliter und die Sippe der Muschiter; das waren die Sippen der Merariter.
34 When all their males of a month or more were registered, they numbered six thousand two hundred.	34 Die Zahl ihrer gemusterten männlichen Personen von einem Monat und darüber betrug im Ganzen 6200.
35 The prince of the ancestral house of the clans of Merari was Zuriel, son of Abihail. They camped at the north side of the Dwelling.	35 Familienoberhaupt der Sippen der Merariter war Zuriël, der Sohn Abihajils. Sie lagerten an der Nordseite der Wohnstätte.
36 The Merarites were charged with the care of whatever pertained to the boards of the Dwelling, its bars, columns, pedestals, and all its fittings,	36 Die Söhne Meraris waren betraut mit der Sorge für die Bretter der Wohnstätte, ihre Querlatten, Säulen und Sockel, ihre Geräte und alles, was zu diesem Dienst gehörte,
37 as well as the columns of the surrounding court with their pedestals, pegs and ropes.	37 ferner für die Säulen des Vorhofs ringsum, ihre Sockel, ihre Zeltpflöcke und Stricke.
38 East of the Dwelling, that is, in front of the meeting tent, toward the sunrise, were camped Moses and Aaron and the latter's sons. They discharged the obligations of the sanctuary for the Israelites. Any layman who came near was to be put to death.	38 Vor der Wohnstätte, an der Vorderseite, östlich vom Offenbarungszelt, lagerten Mose und Aaron mit seinen Söhnen. Sie hatten den Dienst am Heiligtum zu tun, wie er den Israeliten aufgetragen worden war. Wer unbefugt daran teilnimmt, wird mit dem Tod bestraft.
39 The total number of male Levites a month old or more whom Moses had registered by clans in keeping with the LORD'S command, was twenty-two thousand.	39 Die Gesamtzahl der Leviten, die Mose und Aaron auf Befehl des Herrn musterten, aller männlichen Personen von einem Monat und darüber, nach Sippen geordnet, betrug 22000.
40 The LORD then said to Moses, "Take a census of all the first-born males of the Israelites a month old or more, and compute their total number.	40 Der Herr sprach zu Mose: Zähle alle männlichen erstgeborenen Israeliten, die einen Monat und älter sind, stell ihre Zahl namentlich fest!
41 Then assign the Levites to me, the LORD, in place of all the first-born of the Israelites, as well as their cattle in place of all the first-born among the cattle of the Israelites."	41 Dann nimm für mich, für mich, den Herrn, die Leviten als Ersatz für alle erstgeborenen Israeliten entgegen, außerdem das Vieh der Leviten als Ersatz für alle Erstlinge unter dem Vieh der Israeliten!
42 So Moses took a census of all the first-born of the Israelites, as the LORD had commanded him.	42 Mose musterte alle erstgeborenen Israeliten, wie es ihm der Herr befohlen hatte.
43 When all the first-born males of a month or more were registered, they numbered twenty-two thousand two hundred and seventy-three.	43 Die Gesamtzahl der männlichen Erstgeborenen, die einen Monat und älter waren, betrug bei dieser namentlichen Zählung 22273.
44 The LORD said to Moses:	44 Dann sprach der Herr zu Mose:
45 "Take the Levites in place of all the first-born of the Israelites, and the Levites' cattle in place of their cattle, that the Levites may belong to me. I am the LORD.	45 Nimm die Leviten als Ersatz für alle erstgeborenen Israeliten entgegen, außerdem das Vieh der Leviten als Ersatz für das Vieh der Israeliten! Die Leviten gehören mir, mir, dem Herrn.
46 As ransom for the two hundred and seventy-three first-born of the Israelites who outnumber the Levites,	46 Es sind aber 273 erstgeborene Israeliten mehr als Leviten; sie müssen ausgelöst werden.
47 you shall take five shekels for each individual, according to the standard of the sanctuary shekel, twenty gerahs to the shekel.	47 Erheb für jeden fünf Schekel; erheb sie nach dem Schekelgewicht des Heiligtums, den Schekel zu zwanzig Gera.
48 Give this silver to Aaron and his sons as ransom for the extra number."	48 Übergib das Geld Aaron und seinen Söhnen zur Auslösung der überzähligen Israeliten!
49 So Moses took the silver as ransom from those who were left when the rest had been redeemed by the Levites.	49 Da erhob Mose das Lösegeld von denen, die die Zahl der Leviten überstiegen und deshalb auszulösen waren.
50 From the first-born of the Israelites he received in silver one thousand three hundred and sixty-five shekels according to the sanctuary standard.	50 1365 Silberschekel erhob Mose von den erstgeborenen Israeliten, nach dem Schekelgewicht des Heiligtums,
51 He then gave this ransom silver to Aaron and his sons, as the LORD had commanded him.	51 und er übergab Aaron und seinen Söhnen das Lösegeld, wie es ihm der Herr befohlen hatte.
