Sirach 35

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 To keep the law is a great oblation, and he who observes the commandments sacrifices a peace offering.	1 Aquele que observa a lei faz numerosas oferendas.
2 In works of charity one offers fine flour, and when he gives alms he presents his sacrifice of praise.	2 É um sacrifício salutar guardar os preceitos, e apartar-se de todo pecado.
3 To refrain from evil pleases the LORD, and to avoid injustice is an atonement.	3 Afastar-se da injustiça é oferecer um sacrifício de propiciação, que consegue o perdão dos pecados.
4 Appear not before the LORD empty-handed, for all that you offer is in fulfillment of the precepts.	4 Aquele que oferece a flor da farinha dá graças, e o que usa de misericórdia oferece um sacrifício.
5 The just man's offering enriches the altar and rises as a sweet odor before the Most High.	5 Abster-se do mal é coisa agradável ao Senhor; o fugir da injustiça alcança o perdão dos pecados.
6 The just man's sacrifice is most pleasing, nor will it ever be forgotten.	6 Não te apresentarás diante do Senhor com as mãos vazias,
7 In generous spirit pay homage to the LORD, be not sparing of freewill gifts.	7 pois todos (esses ritos) se fazem para obedecer aos preceitos divinos.
8 With each contribution show a cheerful countenance, and pay your tithes in a spirit of joy.	8 A oblação do justo enriquece o altar; é um suave odor na presença do Senhor.
9 Give to the Most High as he has given to you, generously, according to your means.	9 O sacrifício do justo é aceito (por Deus). O Senhor não se esquecerá dele.
10 For the LORD is one who always repays, and he will give back to you sevenfold.	10 Dá glória a Deus de bom coração e nada suprimas das primícias (do produto) de tuas mãos.
11 But offer no bribes, these he does not accept! Trust not in sacrifice of the fruits of extortion,	11 Faze todas as tuas oferendas com um rosto alegre, consagra os dízimos com alegria.
12 For he is a God of justice, who knows no favorites.	12 Dá ao Altíssimo conforme te foi dado por ele, dá de bom coração de acordo com o que tuas mãos ganharam,
13 Though not unduly partial toward the weak, yet he hears the cry of the oppressed.	13 pois o Senhor retribui a dádiva, e recompensar-te-á tudo sete vezes mais.
14 He is not deaf to the wail of the orphan, nor to the widow when she pours out her complaint;	14 Não lhe ofereças dádivas perversas, pois ele não as aceitará.
15 Do not the tears that stream down her cheek cry out against him that causes them to fall?	15 Nada esperes de um sacrifício injusto, porque o Senhor é teu juiz, e ele não faz distinção de pessoas.
16 He who serves God willingly is heard; his petition reaches the heavens.	16 O Senhor não faz acepção de pessoa em detrimento do pobre, e ouve a oração do ofendido.
17 The prayer of the lowly pierces the clouds; it does not rest till it reaches its goal,	17 Não despreza a oração do órfão, nem os gemidos da viúva.
18 Nor will it withdraw till the Most High responds, judges justly and affirms the right.	18 As lágrimas da viúva não correm pela sua face, e seu grito não atinge aquele que as faz derramar?
19 God indeed will not delay, and like a warrior, will not be still	19 Pois da sua face sobem até o céu; o Senhor que a ouve, não se compraz em vê-la chorar.
20 Till he breaks the backs of the merciless and wreaks vengeance upon the proud;	20 Aquele que adora a Deus na alegria será bem recebido, e sua oração se elevará até as nuvens.
21 Till he destroys the haughty root and branch, and smashes the scepter of the wicked;	21 A oração do humilde penetra as nuvens; ele não se consolará, enquanto ela não chegar (a Deus), e não se afastará, enquanto o Altíssimo não puser nela os olhos.
22 Till he requites mankind according to its deeds, and repays men according to their thoughts;	22 O Senhor não concederá prazo: ele julgará os justos e fará justiça. O fortíssimo não terá paciência com (os opressores), mas esmagar-lhes-á os rins.
23 Till he defends the cause of his people, and gladdens them by his mercy.	23 Vingar-se-á das nações, até suprimir a multidão dos soberbos, e quebrar os cetros dos iníquos;
24 Welcome is his mercy in time of distress as rain clouds in time of drought.	24 até que ele dê aos homens segundo as suas obras, segundo a conduta de Adão, e segundo a sua presunção; 25. até que faça justiça ao seu povo, e dê alegria aos justos por um efeito de sua misericórdia.
