Psalms 81

1 For the leader; "upon the gittith." Of Asaph.	1 Ao mestre de canto. Com a Gitiena. Salmo de Asaf. Exultai em Deus, nosso protetor, aclamai o Deus de Jacó.
2 Sing joyfully to God our strength; shout in triumph to the God of Jacob!	2 Tocai o saltério, vibrai os tímbales, tangei a melodiosa harpa e a lira.
3 Take up a melody, sound the timbrel, the sweet-sounding harp and lyre.	3 Ressoai a trombeta na lua nova, na lua cheia, dia de grande festa,
4 Blow the trumpet at the new moon, at the full moon, on our solemn feast.	4 porque é uma instituição para Israel, um preceito do Deus de Jacó;
5 For this is a law in Israel, an edict of the God of Jacob,	5 uma lei que foi imposta a José, quando ele entrou em luta com o Egito. Eis que ouviu uma língua desconhecida:
6 Who made it a decree for Joseph when he came out of the land of Egypt. II I hear a new oracle:	6 Aliviei os seus ombros de fardos, já não carregam cestos as suas mãos,
7 "I relieved their shoulders of the burden; their hands put down the basket.	7 na tribulação gritaste para mim e te livrei; da nuvem que troveja eu respondi, junto às águas de Meribá eu te provei.
8 In distress you called and I rescued you; unseen, I spoke to you in thunder; At the waters of Meribah I tested you and said: Selah	8 Escuta, ó povo, a minha advertência: Possas tu me ouvir, ó Israel!
9 'Listen, my people, I give you warning! If only you will obey me, Israel!	9 Não haja em teu meio um deus estranho; nem adores jamais o deus de outro povo.
10 There must be no foreign god among you; you must not worship an alien god.	10 Sou eu, o Senhor, teu Deus, eu que te retirei do Egito; basta abrires a boca e te satisfarei.
11 I, the LORD, am your God, who brought you up from the land of Egypt. Open wide your mouth that I may fill it.'	11 No entanto, meu povo não ouviu a minha voz, Israel não me quis obedecer.
12 But my people did not listen to my words; Israel did not obey me.	12 Por isso, os abandonei à dureza de seus corações. Deixei-os que seguissem seus caprichos.
13 So I gave them over to hardness of heart; they followed their own designs.	13 Oh, se meu povo me tivesse ouvido, se Israel andasse em meus caminhos!
14 But even now if my people would listen, if Israel would walk in my paths,	14 Eu teria logo derrotado seus inimigos, e desceria minha mão contra seus adversários.
15 In a moment I would subdue their foes, against their enemies unleash my hand.	15 Os inimigos do Senhor lhes renderiam homenagens, estaria assegurado, para sempre, o destino do meu povo.
16 Those who hate the LORD would tremble, their doom sealed forever.	16 Eu o teria alimentado com a flor do trigo, e com o mel do rochedo o fartaria.
17 But Israel I would feed with the finest wheat, satisfy them with honey from the rock."
