Rejoice, you just, in the LORD; praise from the upright is fitting.1 A psalm for David. Rejoice in the Lord, O ye just: praise becometh the upright.
Give thanks to the LORD on the harp; on the ten-stringed lyre offer praise.2 Give praise to the Lord on the harp; sing to him with the psaltery, the instrument of ten strings.
Sing to God a new song; skillfully play with joyful chant.3 Sing to him a new canticle, sing well unto him with a loud noise.
For the LORD'S word is true; all his works are trustworthy.4 For the word of the Lord is right, and all his works are done with faithfulness.
The LORD loves justice and right and fills the earth with goodness.5 He loveth mercy and judgment; the earth is full of the mercy of the Lord.
By the LORD'S word the heavens were made; by the breath of his mouth all their host.6 By the word of the Lord the heavens were established; and all the power of them by the spirit of his mouth:
The waters of the sea were gathered as in a bowl; in cellars the deep was confined.7 Gathering together the waters of the sea, as in a vessel; laying up the depths in storehouses.
Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all who dwell in the world show reverence.8 Let all the earth fear the Lord, and let all the inhabitants of the world be in awe of him.
For he spoke, and it came to be, commanded, and it stood in place.9 For he spoke and they were made: he commanded and they were created.
The LORD foils the plan of nations, frustrates the designs of peoples.10 The Lord bringeth to naught the counsels of nations; and he rejecteth the devices of people, and casteth away the counsels of princes.
But the plan of the LORD stands forever, wise designs through all generations.11 But the counsel of the Lord standeth for ever: the thoughts of his heart to all generations.
Happy the nation whose God is the LORD, the people chosen as his very own.12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord: the people whom he hath chosen for his inheritance.
From heaven the LORD looks down and observes the whole human race,13 The Lord hath looked from heaven: he hath beheld all the sons of men.
Surveying from the royal throne all who dwell on earth.14 From his habitation which he hath prepared, he hath looked upon all that dwell on the earth.
The one who fashioned the hearts of them all knows all their works.15 He who hath made the hearts of every one of them: who understandeth all their works.
A king is not saved by a mighty army, nor a warrior delivered by great strength.16 The king is not saved by a great army: nor shall the giant be saved by his own great strength.
Useless is the horse for safety; its great strength, no sure escape.17 Vain is the horse for safety: neither shall he be saved by the abundance of his strength.
But the LORD'S eyes are upon the reverent, upon those who hope for his gracious help,18 Behold the eyes of the Lord are on them that fear him: and on them that hope in his mercy.
Delivering them from death, keeping them alive in times of famine.19 To deliver their souls from death; and feed them in famine.
Our soul waits for the LORD, who is our help and shield.20 Our soul waiteth for the Lord: for he is our helper and protector.
For in God our hearts rejoice; in your holy name we trust.21 For in him our heart shall rejoice: and in his holy name we have trusted.
May your kindness, LORD, be upon us; we have put our hope in you.22 Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, as we have hoped in thee.
