1 A miktam of David. Keep me safe, O God; in you I take refuge	1 Carme. Di David. Custodiscimi, o Dio, perché mi rifugio in te!
2 I say to the Lord, you are my Lord, you are my only good.	2 Dichiaro a Jahvè: «Mio Signore tu sei; il mio bene non è fuori di te».
3 Worthless are all the false gods of the land. Accursed are all who delight in them.	3 Quanto ai santi che sono nel paese, tutto il mio diletto è in essi. Ma i potenti moltiplichino pure i loro idoli, indietro si affrettano.
4 They multiply their sorrows who court other gods. Blood libations to them I will not pour out, nor will I take their names upon my lips.	4 Non verserò le loro libazioni di sangue e non porterò i loro nomi alle mie labbra.
5 LORD, my allotted portion and my cup, you have made my destiny secure.	5 Jahvè, tu sei la porzione del mio possesso e il mio calice, tu sei il detentore della mia sorte.
6 Pleasant places were measured out for me; fair to me indeed is my inheritance.	6 Le corde caddero per me in luogo ameno; sì, la mia parte mi è cara.
7 I bless the LORD who counsels me; even at night my heart exhorts me.	7 Benedirò Jahvè che mi consigliò; sì, nelle ore notturne mi ammoniscono i miei reni.
8 I keep the LORD always before me; with the Lord at my right, I shall never be shaken.	8 Tenni sempre Jahvè davanti agli occhi e siccome è alla mia destra, non vacillerò!
9 Therefore my heart is glad, my soul rejoices; my body also dwells secure,	9 Perciò si rallegra il mio cuore ed esulta il mio intimo; sì, la mia carne riposa tranquilla.
10 For you will not abandon me to Sheol, nor let your faithful servant see the pit.	10 Perché non abbandonerai la mia anima allo Sheol, non farai che il tuo fedele veda la corruzione.
11 You will show me the path to life, abounding joy in your presence, the delights at your right hand forever.	11 Tu mi mostri il sentiero della vita, pienezza di gioia al tuo cospetto, delizie alla tua destra in eterno!
