Psalms 14

1 For the leader. Of David. Fools say in their hearts, "There is no God." Their deeds are loathsome and corrupt; not one does what is right.	1 Per il capocoro. Di David. Dice lo stolto nel suo cuore: «Non c’è Dio!» Nella corruzione, nell’abominio hanno operato; non c’è chi faccia bene.
2 The LORD looks down from heaven upon the human race, To see if even one is wise, if even one seeks God.	2 Jahvè dai cieli scruta sui figli dell’uomo per vedere se c’è un saggio che cerchi Dio.
3 All have gone astray; all alike are perverse. Not one does what is right, not even one.	3 Tutti hanno traviato, tutti quanti si sono corrotti; non c’è chi faccia bene, non ce n’è neppure uno.
4 Will these evildoers never learn? They devour my people as they devour bread; they do not call upon the LORD.	4 Non comprendono tutti coloro che operano l’iniquità, che divorano il mio popolo; divorano il pane e non invocano Jahvè?
5 They have good reason, then, to fear; God is with the company of the just.	5 D’un tratto lo spavento li colse, poiché Dio sta con la generazione dei giusti.
6 They would crush the hopes of the poor, but the poor have the LORD as their refuge.	6 Per il consiglio del misero furono confusi perché Jahvè è suo rifugio.
7 Oh, that from Zion might come the deliverance of Israel, That Jacob may rejoice, and Israel be glad when the LORD restores his people!	7 Venisse da Sion la salvezza d’Israele! Quando Jahvè restaura le sorti del suo popolo, esulta Giacobbe, si allieta Israele.
