1 Then the LORD said to Noah: "Go into the ark, you and all your household, for you alone in this age have I found to be truly just.	1 Yahvé dit à Noé: “Entre dans l’arche, toi et toute ta famille, car tu es le seul juste que j’aie vu dans la génération que j’ai sous les yeux.
2 Of every clean animal, take with you seven pairs, a male and its mate; and of the unclean animals, one pair, a male and its mate;	2 Tu prendras avec toi, de tous les animaux purs, sept paires, le mâle avec sa femelle, et de tous les animaux qui ne sont pas purs, une paire, le mâle avec sa femelle.
3 likewise, of every clean bird of the air, seven pairs, a male and a female, and of all the unclean birds, one pair, a male and a female. Thus you will keep their issue alive over all the earth.	3 De même pour les oiseaux du ciel, sept paires, mâle et femelle, pour conserver leur race sur la surface de la terre.
4 Seven days from now I will bring rain down on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and so I will wipe out from the surface of the earth every moving creature that I have made."	4 Car encore sept jours et je ferai pleuvoir sur la terre pendant quarante jours et quarante nuits. Je supprimerai de la surface de la terre tous les êtres que j’ai faits”.
5 Noah did just as the LORD had commanded him.	5 Noé fit tout ce que Yahvé lui avait ordonné.
6 Noah was six hundred years old when the flood waters came upon the earth.	6 Noé avait 600 ans lorsque le déluge des eaux commença à inonder la terre.
7 Together with his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives, Noah went into the ark because of the waters of the flood.	7 Noé entra donc dans l’arche avec ses fils, sa femme et les femmes de ses fils pour échapper aux eaux du déluge.
8 Of the clean animals and the unclean, of the birds, and of everything that creeps on the ground,	8 Des animaux purs et des animaux qui ne sont pas purs, des oiseaux et de tous les reptiles de la terre,
9 (two by two) male and female entered the ark with Noah, just as the LORD had commanded him.	9 il en vint vers Noé dans l’arche, deux par deux, mâle et femelle, selon ce que Dieu avait ordonné à Noé.
10 As soon as the seven days were over, the waters of the flood came upon the earth.	10 Et au bout de sept jours, les eaux du déluge inondèrent la terre.
11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month: it was on that day that All the fountains of the great abyss burst forth, and the floodgates of the sky were opened.	11 C’était la six-centième année de la vie de Noé, le dix-septième jour du deuxième mois. En ce jour-là, toutes les fontaines du fond de la mer jaillirent, et les écluses du ciel s’ouvrirent:
12 For forty days and forty nights heavy rain poured down on the earth.	12 la pluie allait tomber sur terre pendant quarante jours et quarante nuits.
13 On the precise day named, Noah and his sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of Noah's sons had entered the ark,	13 Ce jour-là, Noé entra dans l’arche avec ses fils Sem, Kam et Japhet, avec sa femme et les trois femmes de ses fils.
14 together with every kind of wild beast, every kind of domestic animal, every kind of creeping thing of the earth, and every kind of bird.	14 Avec eux entrèrent aussi toutes les bêtes selon leur espèce, tous les animaux des champs selon leur espèce, tous les reptiles qui rampent sur la terre selon leur espèce, et tous les oiseaux et tout ce qui vole, chacun selon leur espèce.
15 Pairs of all creatures in which there was the breath of life entered the ark with Noah.	15 Ils arrivaient auprès de Noé dans l’arche, deux par deux, de toutes les espèces.
16 Those that entered were male and female, and of all species they came, as God had commanded Noah. Then the LORD shut him in.	16 Ils entraient, le mâle avec sa femelle, il en arrivait de chaque espèce selon l’ordre de Dieu. Et puis Yahvé ferma la porte derrière Noé.
17 The flood continued upon the earth for forty days. As the waters increased, they lifted the ark, so that it rose above the earth.	17 Le déluge dura quarante jours sur la terre; les eaux montèrent, elles soulevèrent l’arche qui s’éleva au-dessus de la terre.
18 The swelling waters increased greatly, but the ark floated on the surface of the waters.	18 Les eaux grossirent, grossirent encore sur la terre et l’arche allait sur la surface des eaux.
19 Higher and higher above the earth rose the waters, until all the highest mountains everywhere were submerged,	19 Les eaux continuèrent de grossir, toujours et encore au-dessus de la terre, et toutes les hautes montagnes qui sont sous le ciel furent recouvertes.
20 the crest rising fifteen cubits higher than the submerged mountains.	20 Les eaux montèrent encore de 15 coudées quand toutes les montagnes étaient déjà recouvertes.
21 All creatures that stirred on earth perished: birds, cattle, wild animals, and all that swarmed on the earth, as well as all mankind.	21 Tous les êtres vivants de la terre périrent: oiseaux, animaux des champs, bêtes sauvages, tout ce qui vivait et bougeait sur la terre, ainsi que tous les hommes.
22 Everything on dry land with the faintest breath of life in its nostrils died out.	22 Tout ce qui avait un souffle de vie dans les narines, tout ce qui existait sur la terre ferme mourut.
23 The LORD wiped out every living thing on earth: man and cattle, the creeping things and the birds of the air; all were wiped out from the earth. Only Noah and those with him in the ark were left.	23 Alors tous les êtres qui se trouvaient sur la surface de la terre disparurent. Depuis les hommes jusqu’aux animaux des champs, jusqu’aux reptiles et aux oiseaux du ciel: ils disparurent de la terre. Il ne resta plus que Noé et ceux qui étaient avec lui dans l’arche.
24 The waters maintained their crest over the earth for one hundred and fifty days,	24 Les eaux recouvrirent ainsi la terre pendant 150 jours.
