1 This then was the lot of the tribe of the children of Judah by their families; even to the border of Edom the wilderness of Zin southward was the uttermost part of the south coast.	1 Les clans de la tribu de Juda reçurent par le sort un territoire qui touchait la frontière d’Édom et s’étendait depuis le désert de Tsin jusqu’à Qadesh, au sud.
2 And their south border was from the shore of the salt sea, from the bay that looketh southward:	2 La frontière méridionale partait de l’extrémité de la Mer de Sel, depuis la langue de terre tournée vers le midi,
3 And it went out to the south side to Maaleh-acrabbim, and passed along to Zin, and ascended up on the south side unto Kadesh-barnea, and passed along to Hezron, and went up to Adar, and fetched a compass to Karkaa:	3 elle se prolongeait par le sud de la montée des Scorpions, traversait Tsin, montait au sud de Qadesh-Barné; elle passait ensuite par Hesron, montait jusqu’à Addar et tournait alors vers Karka.
4 From thence it passed toward Azmon, and went out unto the river of Egypt; and the goings out of that coast were at the sea: this shall be your south coast.	4 Puis la frontière passait à Asmon, elle arrivait au Torrent d’Égypte et s’achevait à la Mer. Voilà pour la frontière méridionale.
5 And the east border was the salt sea, even unto the end of Jordan. And their border in the north quarter was from the bay of the sea at the uttermost part of Jordan:	5 La Mer de Sel jusqu’à l’embouchure du Jourdain formait la frontière à l’orient. Au nord, la frontière partait de la baie à l’embouchure du Jourdain.
6 And the border went up to Beth-hogla, and passed along by the north of Beth-arabah; and the border went up to the stone of Bohan the son of Reuben:	6 La frontière montait ensuite à Beth-Hogla, elle passait au nord de Beth-Ha-Araba, et se prolongeait par la Pierre de Bohan (Bohan était fils de Ruben).
7 And the border went up toward Debir from the valley of Achor, and so northward, looking toward Gilgal, that is before the going up to Adummim, which is on the south side of the river: and the border passed toward the waters of En-shemesh, and the goings out thereof were at En-rogel:	7 La frontière passait ensuite à Débir, par la vallée d’Akor, et remontait au nord vers le Guilgal en face de la montée d’Adoummim au sud du Torrent. La frontière passait alors par les sources d’En-Chémech et d’En-Roguel;
8 And the border went up by the valley of the son of Hinnom unto the south side of the Jebusite; the same is Jerusalem: and the border went up to the top of the mountain that lieth before the valley of Hinnom westward, which is at the end of the valley of the giants northward:	8 elle remontait ensuite par le ravin de Ben-Hinnom, passant au sud du territoire des Jébusites (c’est Jérusalem), puis elle se prolongeait par le sommet de la montagne qui fait face au ravin de Hinnom à l’ouest, à l’extrémité de la plaine des Réphaïm au nord.
9 And the border was drawn from the top of the hill unto the fountain of the water of Nephtoah, and went out to the cities of mount Ephron; and the border was drawn to Baalah, which is Kirjath-jearim:	9 Alors la frontière s’abaissait du sommet de la montagne vers la fontaine des eaux de Neftoa, puis elle se dirigeait vers les villes qui se trouvent sur le mont Éfron et tournait dans la direction de Baala (c’est Kiryat-Yéarim).
10 And the border compassed from Baalah westward unto mount Seir, and passed along unto the side of mount Jearim, which is Chesalon, on the north side, and went down to Beth-shemesh, and passed on to Timnah:	10 De Baala, la frontière continuait à l’ouest vers la montagne de Séïr, elle longeait le versant du mont Yéarim vers le nord (c’est Késalon), passait à Beth-Chémech, traversait Timna,
11 And the border went out unto the side of Ekron northward: and the border was drawn to Shicron, and passed along to mount Baalah, and went out unto Jabneel; and the goings out of the border were at the sea.	11 et arrivait sur le flanc nord d’Ékron. Là, elle tournait vers Chikaron, passait par la montagne de Baala, puis par Yabnéel. La frontière s’achevait à la mer.
12 And the west border was to the great sea, and the coast thereof. This is the coast of the children of Judah round about according to their families.	12 La Grande Mer formait la frontière occidentale. Voilà quelle était la frontière des clans de Juda.
13 And unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh he gave a part among the children of Judah, according to the commandment of the LORD to Joshua, even the city of Arba the father of Anak, which city is Hebron.	13 On donna un héritage à Caleb, fils de Yéfouné, au milieu de la tribu de Juda, selon l’ordre de Yahvé à Josué: Kiryat-Arba, la ville du père d’Anak (aujourd’hui c’est Hébron).
14 And Caleb drove thence the three sons of Anak, Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, the children of Anak.	14 Caleb en chassa les trois fils d’Anak: Chéchaï, Ahiman et Talmaï, tous trois descendants d’Anak.
15 And he went up thence to the inhabitants of Debir: and the name of Debir before was Kirjath-sepher.	15 De là, il se mit en campagne contre les habitants de Débir (autrefois Débir s’appelait Kiryat-Séfer).
16 And Caleb said, He that smiteth Kirjath-sepher, and taketh it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter to wife.	16 Alors Caleb s’écria: “Celui qui battra Kiryat-Séfer et s’en emparera, je lui donnerai ma fille Aksa en mariage!”
17 And Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, took it: and he gave him Achsah his daughter to wife.	17 Otniel, fils de Kénaz, frère de Caleb, s’en empara, et Caleb lui donna sa fille Aksa en mariage.
18 And it came to pass, as she came unto him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted off her ass; and Caleb said unto her, What wouldest thou?	18 Lorsqu’elle fut arrivée près de son mari, celui-ci lui conseilla de demander à son père un champ. Elle sauta donc de son âne et Caleb lui demanda: “Que veux-tu?”
19 Who answered, Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And he gave her the upper springs, and the nether springs.	19 Elle répondit: “Fais-moi plaisir, puisque tu m’as envoyée dans le Négueb, donne-moi au moins des sources d’eau.” Et il lui donna les Sources d’en Haut et les Sources d’en Bas.
20 This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families.	20 Voilà l’héritage des clans de Juda.
21 And the uttermost cities of the tribe of the children of Judah toward the coast of Edom southward were Kabzeel, and Eder, and Jagur,	21 Voici les villes du sud du territoire de Juda, du côté de la frontière d’Édom, dans le Négueb: Qabzéel, Arad, Yagour,
22 And Kinah, and Dimonah, and Adadah,	22 Kina, Dimon, Aroër,
23 And Kedesh, and Hazor, and Ithnan,	23 Qédesh, Haçor-Yitnan,
24 Ziph, and Telem, and Bealoth,	24 Zif, Télem, Balot,
25 And Hazor, Hadattah, and Kerioth, and Hezron, which is Hazor,	25 Haçor-Hadata, Kériyot-Hésron (c’est Haçor),
26 Amam, and Shema, and Moladah,	26 Amam, Chéma, Méolada,
27 And Hazar-gaddah, and Heshmon, and Beth-palet,	27 Hasar-Gada, Hechmon, Beth-Pélet,
28 And Hazar-shual, and Beer-sheba, and Bizjothjah,	28 Hasar-Choual, Bersabée et ses pâturages,
29 Baalah, and Iim, and Azem,	29 Baala, Iyim, Ésem,
30 And Eltolad, and Chesil, and Hormah,	30 Eltolad, Kesil, Horma,
31 And Ziklag, and Madmannah, and Sansannah,	31 Siklag, Madmanna, Sansana,
32 And Lebaoth, and Shilhim, and Ain, and Rimmon: all the cities are twenty and nine, with their villages:	32 Lébaot, Chilhim, Ayin et Rimmon: au total, 29 villes et leurs villages.
33 And in the valley, Eshtaol, and Zoreah, and Ashnah,	33 Dans le Bas-Pays: Echtaol, Soréa, Achna,
34 And Zanoah, and En-gannim, Tappuah, and Enam,	34 Zanoua, En-Gannim, Tapoua, Énam,
35 Jarmuth, and Adullam, Socoh, and Azekah,	35 Yarmout, Adoullam, Soko, Azéka,
36 And Sharaim, and Adithaim, and Gederah, and Gederothaim; fourteen cities with their villages:	36 Chaarayim, Aditayim, Ha-Guédéra et Guédérotaïm: 14 villes et leurs villages.
37 Zenan, and Hadashah, and Migdal-gad,	37 Sénan, Adacha, Migdal-Gat,
38 And Dilean, and Mizpeh, and Joktheel,	38 Diléan, Ha-Mispé, Yoktéel,
39 Lachish, and Bozkath, and Eglon,	39 Lakish, Boskat, Églon,
40 And Cabbon, and Lahmam, and Kithlish,	40 Kabon, Lahmas, Kitlich,
41 And Gederoth, Beth-dagon, and Naamah, and Makkedah; sixteen cities with their villages:	41 Guédérot, Beth-Dagon, Naama et Makkéda: 16 villes et leurs villages.
42 Libnah, and Ether, and Ashan,	42 Libna, Éter, Achan,
43 And Jiphtah, and Ashnah, and Nezib,	43 Yifta, Achna, Nésib,
44 And Keilah, and Achzib, and Mareshah; nine cities with their villages:	44 Keïla, Akzib et Marécha: 9 villes et leurs villages.
45 Ekron, with her towns and her villages:	45 Ékron avec ses pâturages et ses villages,
46 From Ekron even unto the sea, all that lay near Ashdod, with their villages:	46 tout ce qui se trouve dans la région d’Ashdod, avec ses villages, depuis Ékron jusqu’à la mer.
47 Ashdod with her towns and her villages, Gaza with her towns and her villages, unto the river of Egypt, and the great sea, and the border thereof:	47 Ashdod avec ses pâturages et ses villages, Gaza avec ses pâturages et ses villages, depuis la Grande Mer jusqu’au Torrent d’Égypte.
48 And in the mountains, Shamir, and Jattir, and Socoh,	48 Dans la montagne: Chamir, Yattir, Soko,
49 And Dannah, and Kirjath-sannah, which is Debir,	49 Dana, Kiryat-Séfer (aujourd’hui c’est Débir),
50 And Anab, and Eshtemoh, and Anim,	50 Anab, Echtémoa, Anim,
51 And Goshen, and Holon, and Giloh; eleven cities with their villages:	51 Gossen, Holon et Guilo: 11 villes et leurs villages.
52 Arab, and Dumah, and Eshean,	52 Arab, Douma, Échéan,
53 And Janum, and Beth-tappuah, and Aphekah,	53 Yanoum, Beth-Tapoua, Aféka,
54 And Humtah, and Kirjath-arba, which is Hebron, and Zior; nine cities with their villages:	54 Oumta, Kiryat-Arba (aujourd’hui c’est Hébron), et Sior: 9 villes et leurs villages.
55 Maon, Carmel, and Ziph, and Juttah,	55 Maon, Karmel, Zif, Youta,
56 And Jezreel, and Jokdeam, and Zanoah,	56 Yizréel, Yoqdéam, Zanoua,
57 Cain, Gibeah, and Timnah; ten cities with their villages:	57 Ha-Kayin, Guibéa et Timna: 10 villes et leurs villages.
58 Halhul, Beth-zur, and Gedor,	58 Halhoul, Beth-Sour, Guédor,
59 And Maarath, and Beth-anoth, and Eltekon; six cities with their villages:	59 Maarat, Beth-Anot, et Eltékon: 6 villes et leurs villages. Tékoa, Éfrata (aujourd’hui c’est Bethléem), Péor, Étam, Koulon, Tatam, Sorés, Karem, Gallim, Béter et Mana: 11 villes et leurs villages.
60 Kirjath-baal, which is Kirjath-jearim, and Rabbah; two cities with their villages:	60 Kiryat-Baal (c’est Kiryat-Yéarim), et Ha-Rabba: deux villes et leurs villages.
61 In the wilderness, Beth-arabah, Middin, and Secacah,	61 Dans le désert: Beth-Ha-Araba, Midin, Sékaka,
62 And Nibshan, and the city of Salt, and En-gedi; six cities with their villages.	62 Nibchan, la Ville-du-Sel et Engaddi: 6 villes et leurs villages.
63 As for the Jebusites the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the children of Judah could not drive them out: but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Judah at Jerusalem unto this day.	63 Les fils de Juda ne purent chasser les Jébusites qui habitaient à Jérusalem, c’est pourquoi les Jébusites habitent encore aujourd’hui Jérusalem, à côté des fils de Juda.
