Philippians 1

1 Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:	1 Paolo e Timoteo, servi di Cristo Gesù, a tutti i santi in Cristo Gesù che sono a Filippi, assieme agli ispettori e ai diaconi:
2 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.	2 grazia a voi e pace da Dio Padre nostro e dal Signore Gesù Cristo. Rendimento di grazie
3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,	3 Rendo grazie al mio Dio ad ogni ricordo di voi,
4 Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,	4 sempre in ogni mia preghiera supplicando per voi tutti con gioia,
5 For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;	5 a motivo della parte da voi presa all’evangelo dal primo giorno fino ad ora;
6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:	6 e ho questa ferma fiducia che colui il quale iniziò in voi opera così eccellente la porterà a compimento fino al giorno di Cristo Gesù.
7 Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace.	7 È giusto che io senta così di tutti voi, poiché io vi tengo nel cuore, essendo voi tutti compartecipi della mia grazia sia nelle mie catene sia nella difesa e nel consolidamento dell’evangelo.
8 For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.	8 Mi è testimonio Iddio come io vi desideri tutti nel cuore di Cristo Gesù.
9 And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;	9 E per questo prego: che la vostra carità più e più ancora abbondi in conoscenza e pienezza di discernimento,
10 That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ;	10 affinché apprezziate le cose migliori, affinché siate puri e senza colpa per il giorno di Cristo,
11 Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.	11 ripieni del frutto di giustizia che ci viene per Gesù Cristo, a gloria e lode di Dio.
12 But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel;	12 Voglio poi che sappiate, fratelli, che le cose accadutemi sono riuscite piuttosto a profitto dell'evangelo,
13 So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places;	13 al punto che è divenuto ben noto in tutto il pretorio e in ogni altro luogo che le mie catene sono per la causa di Cristo,
14 And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.	14 e la maggior parte dei fratelli, incoraggiati nel Signore dal fatto stesso della mia prigionia, ardiscono maggiormente annunciare senza timore la parola di Dio.
15 Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:	15 Alcuni, bensì, per invidia e per gelosia; altri, invece, per buona volontà predicano Cristo:
16 The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:	16 questi, mossi da carità, sapendo che io sono in questo stato a difesa dell’evangelo;
17 But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.	17 quelli, al contrario, per faziosità annunciano Cristo, non con purità d’intenzione, ma pensando di procurare così altra tribolazione alle mie catene.
18 What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.	18 Ma che importa? Dopo tutto, in qualsiasi maniera, sia con ipocrisia sia con sincerità, Cristo viene annunciato. Di questo io mi rallegro e continuerò anche a rallegrarmi.
19 For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,	19 So, infatti, che questo tornerà a mia salvezza, grazie alle vostre preghiere e all’assistenza dello Spirito di Gesù Cristo.
20 According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.	20 È mia ferma attesa è speranza di non venire con fuso in cosa alcuna: ho tutta la sicurezza, anzi, che, come sempre, anche ora Cristo sarà glorificato nel mio corpo sia per la vita sia per la morte.
21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.	21 Per me, infatti, il vivere è Cristo, e il morire, un guadagno.
22 But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not.	22 Se poi il vivere nella carne significa che io lavori ancora fruttuosamente, io non so che cosa scegliere.
23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:	23 Sono stretto in questa alternativa: ho il desiderio d’andarmene per essere con Cristo, che è cosa di gran lunga migliore;
24 Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.	24 ma il rimanere nella carne è più necessario per riguardo voi.
25 And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith;	25 E convinto di questo so che resterò e dimorerò ancora presso di voi a vostro profitto e per la gioia della vostra fede.
26 That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again.	26 affinché in me abbiate un nuovo motivo d'essere fieri in Cristo Gesù a causa del mio ritorno in mezzo a voi.
27 Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;	27 Solamente, abbiate una condotta degna dell'evangelo, di Cristo, affinché, sia che io venga e vi veda sia che resti lontano, abbia a udire di voi che siete saldamente uniti nel medesimo spirito, lottando con un’anima sola per la fede dell'evangelo
28 And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.	28 e per nulla intimiditi dagli avversari: è questo, per loro, un sicuro presagio di rovina, per voi di salvezza; e ciò per dono di Dio;
29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;	29 A voi, infatti, è stata data, per Cristo, questa grazia, non solo di credere in lui ma anche di patire per lui,
30 Having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me.	30 sperimentando: in voi lo stesso combattimento che m'avete visto sostenere e che tuttora, come sapete, io sostengo.
