1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.	1 “Je suis la vraie vigne et mon Père est le vigneron.
2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.	2 Quand une branche, en moi, ne porte pas de fruit, il l’enlève; quand une branche donne du fruit, il la taille et la nettoie pour qu’elle en porte davantage.
3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.	3 Le message que je vous ai donné vous a déjà purifiés,
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.	4 mais demeurez en moi, et moi en vous. Le sarment ne pourra pas donner de fruits par lui-même s’il ne reste pas sur la vigne; ce sera pareil pour vous si vous ne restez pas en moi.
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.	5 “Je suis la vigne et vous êtes les sarments. Sans moi vous ne pouvez rien faire, mais celui qui demeure en moi et moi en lui, porte beaucoup de fruits.
6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.	6 “Si quelqu’un ne demeure pas en moi, il est jeté dehors comme les sarments, et tout se dessèche; on les met en tas, on les jette au feu et ils brûlent.
7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.	7 Mais tant que vous demeurez en moi et que mes paroles demeurent en vous, demandez ce que vous voulez et vous l’obtiendrez.
8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.	8 C’est ainsi que mon Père est glorifié, quand vous portez beaucoup de fruits; et alors vous devenez mes disciples.
9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.	9 “Comme le Père m’a aimé, moi aussi je vous ai aimés: demeurez en mon amour.
10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.	10 Si vous gardez mes commandements, vous demeurerez en mon amour, tout comme j’ai gardé les commandements de mon Père et je demeure en son amour.
11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.	11 Je vous dis tout cela pour que ma joie soit en vous, et que votre joie soit entière.
12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.	12 “Voici mon commandement: Aimez-vous les uns les autres comme je vous ai aimés.
13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.	13 Il ne peut pas y avoir de plus grand amour que de donner sa vie pour ses amis,
14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.	14 et vous, vous êtes mes amis si vous faites ce que je vous commande.
15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.	15 Aussi, je ne vous appelle plus des serviteurs, car le serviteur ne sait pas ce que fait son maître; je vous traite d’amis parce que je vous ai fait connaître tout ce que j’ai appris de mon Père.
16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.	16 “Ce n’est pas vous qui m’avez choisi, mais je vous ai choisis et je vous ai donné mission pour que vous alliez et que vous portiez du fruit, et que ce fruit demeure. C’est ainsi que le Père vous donnera tout ce que vous demanderez en mon nom.
17 These things I command you, that ye love one another.	17 Aimez-vous les uns les autres, c’est là mon commandement.”
18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.	18 “Si le monde vous déteste, pensez qu’il m’a détesté avant vous.
19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.	19 Si vous étiez du monde, le monde reconnaîtrait les siens et les aimerait. Mais vous n’êtes pas du monde, et le monde vous déteste parce que je vous en ai tirés.
20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.	20 Rappelez-vous ce que je vous ai dit: le serviteur n’est pas au-dessus de son maître. Si l’on m’a persécuté, on vous persécutera de même. A-t-on accueilli ma parole? Alors, va-t-on accueillir la vôtre?
21 But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.	21 “Tout ce qu’ils feront contre vous, ce sera à cause de mon nom, parce qu’ils ne connaissent pas celui qui m’a envoyé.
22 If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin.	22 Si je n’étais pas venu pour leur parler, ils n’auraient pas de péché. Mais maintenant ils n’ont plus d’excuses pour leurs péchés.
23 He that hateth me hateth my Father also.	23 “Celui qui me déteste, déteste aussi mon Père.
24 If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.	24 Si je n’avais pas fait parmi eux des œuvres que personne d’autre n’a faites, ils n’auraient pas de péché. Mais maintenant ils ont vu, et ils m’ont détesté aussi bien que mon Père.
25 But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.	25 Il fallait que s’accomplisse cette parole qu’on lit dans leur Loi: ils m’ont détesté sans raison.”
26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:	26 “Mais je vais vous envoyer d’auprès du Père le Protecteur, et quand il sera là, l’Esprit de Vérité qui vient du Père, il me rendra témoignage.
27 And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.	27 Et vous aussi, vous me rendrez témoignage, car vous êtes avec moi depuis le commencement.”
