KING JAMES BIBLENEW JERUSALEM
Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!1 He said to his disciples, 'Causes of fal ing are sure to come, but alas for the one through whom theyoccur!
It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.2 It would be better for such a person to be thrown into the sea with a mil stone round the neck than tobe the downfal of a single one of these little ones.
Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.3 Keep watch on yourselves! 'If your brother does something wrong, rebuke him and, if he is sorry,forgive him.
And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.4 And if he wrongs you seven times a day and seven times comes back to you and says, "I am sorry,"you must forgive him.'
And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.5 The apostles said to the Lord, 'Increase our faith.'
And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.6 The Lord replied, 'If you had faith like a mustard seed you could say to this mulberry tree, "Be uprootedand planted in the sea," and it would obey you.
But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat?7 'Which of you, with a servant ploughing or minding sheep, would say to him when he returned from thefields, "Come and have your meal at once"?
And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?8 Would he not be more likely to say, "Get my supper ready; fasten your belt and wait on me while I eatand drink. You yourself can eat and drink afterwards"?
Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not.9 Must he be grateful to the servant for doing what he was told?
So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.10 So with you: when you have done al you have been told to do, say, "We are useless servants: wehave done no more than our duty." '
And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.11 Now it happened that on the way to Jerusalem he was travel ing in the borderlands of Samaria andGalilee.
And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:12 As he entered one of the villages, ten men suffering from a virulent skin-disease came to meet him.They stood some way off
And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.13 and cal ed to him, 'Jesus! Master! Take pity on us.'
And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.14 When he saw them he said, 'Go and show yourselves to the priests.' Now as they were going awaythey were cleansed.
And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,15 Finding himself cured, one of them turned back praising God at the top of his voice
And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.16 and threw himself prostrate at the feet of Jesus and thanked him. The man was a Samaritan.
And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?17 This led Jesus to say, 'Were not al ten made clean? The other nine, where are they?
There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.18 It seems that no one has come back to give praise to God, except this foreigner.'
And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.19 And he said to the man, 'Stand up and go on your way. Your faith has saved you.'
And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:20 Asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God was to come, he gave them this answer, 'Thecoming of the kingdom of God does not admit of observation
Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.21 and there will be no one to say, "Look, it is here! Look, it is there!" For look, the kingdom of God isamong you.'
And he said unto the disciples, The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it.22 He said to the disciples, 'A time wil come when you wil long to see one of the days of the Son ofman and wil not see it.
And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there: go not after them, nor follow them.23 They will say to you, "Look, it is there!" or, "Look, it is here!" Make no move; do not set off in pursuit;
For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day.24 for as the lightning flashing from one part of heaven lights up the other, so wil be the Son of manwhen his Day comes.
But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation.25 But first he is destined to suffer grievously and be rejected by this generation.
And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.26 'As it was in Noah's day, so wil it also be in the days of the Son of man.
They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.27 People were eating and drinking, marrying wives and husbands, right up to the day Noah went intothe ark, and the Flood came and destroyed them all.
Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;28 It wil be the same as it was in Lot's day: people were eating and drinking, buying and selling, plantingand building,
But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.29 but the day Lot left Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and it destroyed them all.
Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.30 It wil be the same when the day comes for the Son of man to be revealed.
In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.31 'When that Day comes, no one on the housetop, with his possessions in the house, must come downto col ect them, nor must anyone in the fields turn back.
Remember Lot's wife.32 Remember Lot's wife.
Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.33 Anyone who tries to preserve his life wil lose it; and anyone who loses it wil keep it safe.
I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.34 I tel you, on that night, when two are in one bed, one wil be taken, the other left;
Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left.35 when two women are grinding corn together, one wil be taken, the other left.'
Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.36
And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.37 The disciples spoke up and asked, 'Where, Lord?' He said, 'Where the body is, there too will thevultures gather.'
