1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.	1 Allora Gesù fu condotto dallo Spirito nel deserto per essere tentato dal diavolo.
2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.	2 E dopo aver digiunato quaranta giorni e quaranta notti, ebbe fame.
3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.	3 Gli si avvicinò il tentatore e gli disse: "Se sei Figlio di Dio, di' che queste pietre diventino pane".
4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.	4 Ma egli rispose: "Sta scritto: Non di solo pane vivrà l'uomo, ma di ogni parola che esce dalla bocca di Dio".
5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,	5 Allora il diavolo lo condusse con sé nella città santa e, postolo sul pinnacolo del tempio,
6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.	6 gli disse: "Se sei Figlio di Dio, gèttati giù. Infatti sta scritto: Darà ordini per te ai suoi angeli che ti sorreggano sulle braccia, perché non urti in qualche sasso il tuo piede".
7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.	7 Gli rispose Gesù: "Sta anche scritto: Non tenterai il Signore Dio tuo".
8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;	8 Di nuovo il diavolo lo condusse con sé sopra un monte altissimo e gli mostrò tutti i regni del mondo con la loro magnificenza.
9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.	9 E gli disse: "Tutte queste cose io te le darò, se prostrato a terra mi adorerai".
10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.	10 Allora gli disse Gesù: "Vattene, Satana! Sta scritto: Adorerai il Signore Dio tuo e a lui solo presterai culto".
11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.	11 Il diavolo allora lo lasciò. Ed ecco che gli angeli si avvicinarono a lui per servirlo.
12 Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee;	12 Quando poi seppe che Giovanni era stato imprigionato, Gesù si ritirò in Galilea;
13 And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim:	13 e lasciata Nazaret, andò ad abitare a Cafarnao, che si trova in riva del mare, nel territorio di Zabulon e di Nèftali;
14 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,	14 perché si adempisse quanto fu annunciato dal profeta Isaia:
15 The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;	15 Terra di Zabulon e terra di Nèftali, sulla via del mare, al di là del Giordano, Galilea delle genti!
16 The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.	16 Il popolo che giace nelle tenebre ha visto una gran luce, per quanti dimorano nella tenebrosa regione della morte una luce s'è levata.
17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.	17 Da allora Gesù cominciò a predicare e a dire: "Convertitevi, poiché è vicino il regno dei cieli".
18 And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.	18 Camminando lungo il mare di Galilea, Gesù vide due fratelli, Simone detto Pietro e Andrea suo fratello: stavano gettando in mare le reti, poiché erano pescatori.
19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.	19 Disse loro: "Seguitemi e vi farò pescatori di uomini".
20 And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.	20 Essi all'istante, abbandonate le reti, lo seguirono.
21 And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.	21 Movendosi di là, vide altri due fratelli, Giacomo di Zebedeo e Giovanni suo fratello: stavano rassettando le reti sulla barca insieme al loro padre Zebedeo. Li chiamò
22 And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.	22 ed essi all'istante, abbandonata la barca con il padre, lo seguirono.
23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.	23 Percorrendo tutta la Galilea, Gesù insegnava nelle loro sinagoghe, annunciando il vangelo del regno e guarendo fra il popolo ogni malattia e infermità.
24 And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.	24 Si sparse la sua fama per tutta la Siria, e così condussero a lui malati di ogni genere: sofferenti di infermità e dolori vari, indemoniati e paralitici, ed egli li guarì.
25 And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea, and from beyond Jordan.	25 Lo seguirono perciò folle numerose provenienti dalla Galilea, dalla Decapoli, da Gerusalemme, dalla Giudea e dalla Transgiordania.
