1 How is the gold become dim! how is the most fine gold changed! the stones of the sanctuary are poured out in the top of every street.	1 Comment l'or s'est-il obscurci? comment sa belle couleur a-t-elle été changée? comment les pierres du sanctuaire ont-elles été dispersées aux coins de toutes les rues?
2 The precious sons of Zion, comparable to fine gold, how are they esteemed as earthen pitchers, the work of the hands of the potter!	2 Comment les nobles fils de Sion, couverts de l'or le plus pur, ont-ils été regardés comme des vases de terre, ouvrage des mains du potier?
3 Even the sea monsters draw out the breast, they give suck to their young ones: the daughter of my people is become cruel, like the ostriches in the wilderness.	3 Les lamies elles-mêmes ont découvert leur mamelle, et allaité leurs petits; la fille de mon peuple est cruelle comme l'autruche du désert.
4 The tongue of the sucking child cleaveth to the roof of his mouth for thirst: the young children ask bread, and no man breaketh it unto them.	4 La langue du nourrisson s'est attachée à son palais dans sa soif; les petits enfants ont demandé du pain, et il n'y avait personne pour leur en donner.
5 They that did feed delicately are desolate in the streets: they that were brought up in scarlet embrace dunghills.	5 Ceux qui se nourrissaient délicatement sont morts dans les ruues; ceux qui étaient élevés dans la pourpre ont embrassé les fumiers.
6 For the punishment of the iniquity of the daughter of my people is greater than the punishment of the sin of Sodom, that was overthrown as in a moment, and no hands stayed on her.	6 L'iniquité de la fille de mon peuple est devenue plus grande que le péché de Sodome, qui fut renversé en un moment, sans que les hommes aient porté la main sur elle.
7 Her Nazarites were purer than snow, they were whiter than milk, they were more ruddy in body than rubies, their polishing was of sapphire:	7 Ses nazaréens étaient plus blancs que la neige, plus purs que le lait, plus rouges que l'ivoire antique, plus beaux que le saphir.
8 Their visage is blacker than a coal; they are not known in the streets: their skin cleaveth to their bones; it is withered, it is become like a stick.	8 Leur visage est plus noir que les charbons, et on ne les a pas reconnus dans les rues; leur peau est collée sur leurs os, elle s'est desséchée, et elle est devenue comme du bois.
9 They that be slain with the sword are better than they that be slain with hunger: for these pine away, stricken through for want of the fruits of the field.	9 Ceux qui ont été tués par le glaive ont été plus heureux que ceux qui sont morts de faim, car ceux-ci ont été consumés lentement par la stérilité de la terre.
10 The hands of the pitiful women have sodden their own children: they were their meat in the destruction of the daughter of my people.	10 De leurs propres mains les femmes compatissantes ont fait cuire leurs enfants; ils sont devenus leur nourriture dans la ruine de la fille de mon peuple.
11 The LORD hath accomplished his fury; he hath poured out his fierce anger, and hath kindled a fire in Zion, and it hath devoured the foundations thereof.	11 Le Seigneur a épuisé Sa fureur, Il a répandu Sa colère et Son indignation, Il a allumé dans Sion un feu qui a dévoré ses fondements.
12 The kings of the earth, and all the inhabitants of the world, would not have believed that the adversary and the enemy should have entered into the gates of Jerusalem.	12 Les rois de la terre et tous les habitants du monde n'auraient jamais cru que l'ennemi et l'adversaire entreraient par les portes de Jérusalem.
13 For the sins of her prophets, and the iniquities of her priests, that have shed the blood of the just in the midst of her,	13 Cela est arrivé à cause des péchés de ses prophètes et des iniquités de ses prêtres, qui ont répandu au milieu d'elle le sang des justes.
14 They have wandered as blind men in the streets, they have polluted themselves with blood, so that men could not touch their garments.	14 Ils ont erré dans les rues comme des aveugles, ils se sont souillés de sang, et ne pouvant faire autrement, ils relevaient leurs robes.
15 They cried unto them, Depart ye; it is unclean; depart, depart, touch not: when they fled away and wandered, they said among the heathen, They shall no more sojourn there.	15 Retirez-vous, impurs, leur criait-on; retirez-vous, allez-vous-en, ne nous touchez pas; car ils se sont querellés et troublés; ils ont dit parmi les nations: Il ne continuera plus d'habiter parmi eux.
16 The anger of the LORD hath divided them; he will no more regard them: they respected not the persons of the priests, they favoured not the elders.	16 Le visage irrité du Seigneur les a dispersés, Il ne les regardera plus; ils n'ont pas eu de respect pour les prêtres, ni de compassion pour les vieillards.
17 As for us, our eyes as yet failed for our vain help: in our watching we have watched for a nation that could not save us.	17 Lorsque nous subsistions encore, nos yeux se sont lassés dans l'attente d'un vain secours, tandis que nous tenions nos regards attachés sur une nation qui ne pouvait pas nous sauver.
18 They hunt our steps, that we cannot go in our streets: our end is near, our days are fulfilled; for our end is come.	18 Nos pas ont glissé lorsque nous marchions dans nos rues; notre fin s'est approchée, nos jours se sont accomplis, notre fin est arrivée.
19 Our persecutors are swifter than the eagles of the heaven: they pursued us upon the mountains, they laid wait for us in the wilderness.	19 Nos persécuteurs ont été plus agiles que les aigles du ciel; ils nous ont poursuivis sur les montagnes, ils nous ont tendu des pièges dans le désert.
20 The breath of our nostrils, the anointed of the LORD, was taken in their pits, of whom we said, Under his shadow we shall live among the heathen.	20 Le souffle de notre bouche, l'oint, le seigneur, a été pris à cause de nos péchés, lui à qui nous avions dit: Nous vivrons sous ton ombre parmi les nations.
21 Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Edom, that dwellest in the land of Uz; the cup also shall pass through unto thee: thou shalt be drunken, and shalt make thyself naked.	21 Réjouis-toi et sois dans la joie, fille d'Edom, toi qui habites dans le pays de Hus; la coupe viendra aussi jusqu'à toi, tu t'enivreras et tu seras mise à nu.
22 The punishment of thine iniquity is accomplished, O daughter of Zion; he will no more carry thee away into captivity: he will visit thine iniquity, O daughter of Edom; he will discover thy sins.	22 Ton iniquité est expiée, fille de Sion; Il ne te fera plus déporter. Il a visité ton iniquité, fille d'Edom, Il a mis ton péché à découvert.
