Proverbs 3

1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:	1 - Figliuolo mio, non dimenticare il mio insegnamento e il tuo cuore conservi i precetti miei,
2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.	2 perchè lunghi giorni ed anni di vita e la pace per giunta te ne verranno.
3 Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:	3 La misericordia e la verità non ti abbandonino; annodale al tuo collo, scrivile sulle tavole del tuo cuore,
4 So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.	4 e ti troverai in grazia ed in buon concettopresso Dio e presso gli uomini.
5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.	5 Confida nel Signore con tutto il tuo cuore e non appoggiarti sulla tua prudenza;
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.	6 in ogni tuo procedere pensa a luied egli dirigerà i tuoi passi.
7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.	7 Non essere saggio ai tuoi propri occhi, temi Dio e schiva il male.
8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.	8 Sarà questo un ristoro alle tue viscere ed un refrigerio alle tue ossa.
9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:	9 Onora Dio delle tue sostanze e dagli le primizie di tutti i tuoi frutti,
10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.	10 e i tuoi granai saranno ripieni di cibo a sazietàe i tuoi pressoi riboccheranno di vino.
11 My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:	11 Figliuol mio, non rigettare la disciplina di Dio e non ti dispiaccia d'esser da lui castigato;
12 For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.	12 perchè Dio castiga colui che ama e come un padre, del figlio suo se ne compiace.
13 Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.	13 L'uomo che trova la sapienza e chi è fornito di prudenza, lui beato!
14 For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.	14 È miglior acquisto il suo che guadagnare argento, e rende frutto di pretto e purissimo oro;
15 She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.	15 è più preziosa di qualunque ricchezza e tutte le cose più care non la pareggiano.
16 Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.	16 Tiene nella destra longevità di giorni nella sinistra ricchezze e gloria;
17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.	17 le sue vie sono vie amene, e tutti i suoi sentieri pieni di pace.
18 She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.	18 Essa è l'albero della vita per quelli che l'afferrano e chi la stringe, fortunato lui!
19 The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.	19 Il Signore con la sapienza fondò la terra ed eresse i cieli con la prudenza;
20 By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.	20 per la sua sapienza scaturirono le fonti degli abissie le nubi si condensarono in rugiada.
21 My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:	21 Figliuolo mio, non sfuggano mai dagli occhi tuoi queste cose, fa' tesoro della legge e del consiglio,
22 So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.	22 e ciò sarà vita all'anima tua e prezioso ornamento alla tua gola.
23 Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.	23 Percorrerai così la tua strada in tutta sicurezza e il tuo piede non inciamperà.
24 When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.	24 Se dormi, non paventerai di nulla; ti coricherai e il tuo sonno sarà saporoso.
25 Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.	25 Non temerai di repentino spavento, nè che ti assalga la prepotenza degli empi;
26 For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.	26 perchè il Signore sarà al tuo fianco e guarderà il tuo piede affinchè tu non resti preso.
27 Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.	27 Non impedire di fare del bene a chi lo può, se puoi, fa' altrettanto anche tu.
28 Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.	28 Non dire al tuo amico: «Va' e torna, te la darò domani» se quella cosa la puoi dare subito.
29 Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee.	29 Non macchinar male contro il tuo amicomentre egli ha in te tutta la fiducia.
30 Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.	30 Non litigare contro nessuno senza motivo, quando non t'abbia cagionato del male.
31 Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.	31 Non farti emulo dell'uomo ingiusto e non imitare la sua condotta.
32 For the froward is abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the righteous.	32 Perchè ogni schernitore è in abominio al Signore che con i semplici è in segreta intimità.
33 The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.	33 Nella casa dell'empio vien da Dio la povertà, ma le abitazioni dei giusti saranno benedette.
34 Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.	34 Egli si beffa dei beffardi, ma ai mansueti darà grazia.
35 The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.	35 I sapienti possederanno la gloria, l'esaltamento degli stolti sarà l'ignominia.
