Proverbs 11

1 A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.	1 A balança falsa é abominação diante do Senhor, mas o peso justo é-lhe agradável.
2 When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.	2 Onde houver soberba, aí haverá também ignomínia; onde porém há humildade, ai há igualmente sabedoria.
3 The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.	3 A integridade dos justos conduzi-los-á felizmente; porém os enganos dos perversos serão a sua ruína.
4 Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.	4 As riquezas não servirão de nada no dia da cólera, mas a justiça livra da morte.
5 The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.	5 A justiça do homem honesto aplana-lhe o caminho, o mau porém cairá pela sua maldade.
6 The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them: but transgressors shall be taken in their own naughtiness.	6 A justiça dos rectos livrá-los-á, os iníquos, porém, serão apanhados em seus próprios laços. Quando morre o ímpio, desaparece toda a sua esperança; e a expectativa dos iníquos é aniquilada.
7 When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth.
8 The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead.	8 O justo é livre da angústia, e o ímpio será entregue a ela, em lugar dele.
9 An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.	9 O ímpio arruína o seu próximo com a boca, mas os justos serão livres pela ciência.
10 When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth: and when the wicked perish, there is shouting.	10 Na prosperidade dos justos exultará a cidade, e na perdição dos ímpios haverá festa.
11 By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted: but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.	11 A cidade será exaltada pela bênção dos justos, e destruída pela boca dos ímpios.
12 He that is void of wisdom despiseth his neighbour: but a man of understanding holdeth his peace.	12 Despreza o seu próximo quem tem pouco senso, mas o homem prudente calar-se-á.
13 A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.	13 O que procede com deslealdade descobre os segredos, mas o que é de coração leal cala o que se lhe confiou.
14 Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellers there is safety.	14 Onde não há quem governe perecerá o povo; onde há muitos conselheiros, ali haverá salvação.
15 He that is surety for a stranger shall smart for it: and he that hateth suretiship is sure.	15 Aquele que (incautamente) fica por fiador dum estranho, cairá na desventura: mas o que evita os compromissos, viverá tranqüilo.
16 A gracious woman retaineth honour: and strong men retain riches.	16 A mulher gentil (pela sua virtude) alcançará louvor, e os diligentes obterão riquezas.
17 The merciful man doeth good to his own soul: but he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh.	17 O homem caritativo faz bem à sua alma, mas o que é cruel, a si próprio prejudica.
18 The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.	18 A obra do ímpio não subsiste, mas para o que semeia (obras de) justiça há recompensa certa.
19 As righteousness tendeth to life: so he that pursueth evil pursueth it to his own death.	19 A justiça abre o caminho para a vida, e a afeição ao mal conduz à morte.
20 They that are of a froward heart are abomination to the LORD: but such as are upright in their way are his delight.	20 São abomináveis para o Senhor os de coração corrompido, são-lhe gratos os de conduta perfeita.
21 Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.	21 Cedo ou tarde o mau não ficará impune, porém a linhagem dos justos será salva. Um anel de ouro no focinho dum porco, tal é a mulher formosa mas insensata.
22 As a jewel of gold in a swine's snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion.
23 The desire of the righteous is only good: but the expectation of the wicked is wrath.	23 Todo o desejo dos justos se dirige ao bem; o que espera os ímpios é o furor (divino).
24 There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.	24 Uns repartem liberalmente e ficam mais ricos, outros poupam demais, estão sempre na pobreza. A alma beneficente será cumulada de bens, e o que largamente dá, largamente receberá.
25 The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.
26 He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.	26 O que esconde o trigo será amaldiçoado entre os povos; a bênção virá sobre a cabeça dos que o vendem. Aquele que faz o bem, bens atrai (sobre si); aquele porém que busca fazer o mal, será por ele oprimido.
27 He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.
28 He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.	28 O que confia nas suas riquezas, cairá; mas os justos germinarão como uma folhagem verde.
29 He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.	29 O que perturba a sua casa não possuirá senão ventos; e o que é insensato servirá o sábio.
30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.	30 O fruto do justo é árvore de vida; e o que ganha as almas (para Deus) é sábio.
31 Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.	31 Se o justo é punido sobre a terra, quanto mais será o ímpio e o pecador?
