1 when Nathan the prophet came unto him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba.	1 Al maestro del coro. Salmo. Di Davide.
2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.	2 Quando il profeta Natan andò da lui, che era andato con Betsabea.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.	3 Pietà di me, o Dio, nel tuo amore;nella tua grande misericordiacancella la mia iniquità.
4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.	4 Lavami tutto dalla mia colpa,dal mio peccato rendimi puro.
5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.	5 Sì, le mie iniquità io le riconosco,il mio peccato mi sta sempre dinanzi.
6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.	6 Contro di te, contro te solo ho peccato,quello che è male ai tuoi occhi, io l’ho fatto:così sei giusto nella tua sentenza,sei retto nel tuo giudizio.
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.	7 Ecco, nella colpa io sono nato,nel peccato mi ha concepito mia madre.
8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.	8 Ma tu gradisci la sincerità nel mio intimo,nel segreto del cuore mi insegni la sapienza.
9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.	9 Aspergimi con rami d’issòpo e sarò puro;lavami e sarò più bianco della neve.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.	10 Fammi sentire gioia e letizia:esulteranno le ossa che hai spezzato.
11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.	11 Distogli lo sguardo dai miei peccati,cancella tutte le mie colpe.
12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.	12 Crea in me, o Dio, un cuore puro,rinnova in me uno spirito saldo.
13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.	13 Non scacciarmi dalla tua presenzae non privarmi del tuo santo spirito.
14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.	14 Rendimi la gioia della tua salvezza,sostienimi con uno spirito generoso.
15 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.	15 Insegnerò ai ribelli le tue viee i peccatori a te ritorneranno.
16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.	16 Liberami dal sangue, o Dio, Dio mia salvezza:la mia lingua esalterà la tua giustizia.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.	17 Signore, apri le mie labbrae la mia bocca proclami la tua lode.
18 Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.	18 Tu non gradisci il sacrificio;se offro olocausti, tu non li accetti.
19 Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.	19 Uno spirito contrito è sacrificio a Dio;un cuore contrito e affranto tu, o Dio, non disprezzi.
	20 Nella tua bontà fa’ grazia a Sion,ricostruisci le mura di Gerusalemme.
	21 Allora gradirai i sacrifici legittimi,l’olocausto e l’intera oblazione;allora immoleranno vittime sopra il tuo altare.
