Psalms 37

1 Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.	1 De David. Ne va pas t’échauffer quand tu penses aux méchants, n’envie pas ceux qui font le mal.
2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.	2 Comme l’herbe ils seront vite passés, comme la verdure des champs si tôt flétrie.
3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.	3 Confie-toi dans le Seigneur et fais le bien, demeure au pays et trouves-y ta subsistance.
4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.	4 Si tu mets ta joie dans le Seigneur, lui comblera les désirs de ton cœur.
5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.	5 Confie au Seigneur tes entreprises, compte sur lui: il va les mener à bien.
6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.	6 Il rendra tes mérites aussi clairs que le jour, tes droits s’imposeront comme un soleil de midi.
7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.	7 Tais-toi devant le Seigneur et attends-le. Ne t’échauffe pas pour celui qui réussit 14c et qui marche sur le pauvre, le petit.
8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.	8 Laisse là ta colère, cesse de t’indigner, ne t’échauffe pas, cela ne fait que du mal.
9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.	9 Sache que les méchants seront écartés, la terre sera pour ceux qui espèrent en le Seigneur.
10 For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.	10 Attends un moment, vois: le méchant n’est plus là; tu demandes où il est, il a disparu.
11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.	11 Les humbles posséderont la terre et jouiront d’une paix sans menaces.
12 The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.	12 Le méchant cherche du mal au juste et grince des dents contre lui.
13 The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming.	13 Mais le Seigneur s’en amuse car il voit venir son jour.
14 The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation.	14 Les méchants déjà ont tiré l’épée, tendu leur arc pour massacrer les gens honnêtes,
15 Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.	15 mais l’épée entre en leur propre cœur, l’arc se brise.
16 A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.	16 Les méchants ont beaucoup de tout, mais le peu qu’a le juste est meilleur.
17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous.	17 Car aux méchants on brisera les bras, mais le Seigneur soutient les justes.
18 The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.	18 Le Seigneur veille sur les jours des parfaits, leur héritage est à eux pour toujours.
19 They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.	19 Ils ne seront pas déçus au temps du malheur, ils auront à manger quand viendra la famine.
20 But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.	20 Mais les méchants périssent, les ennemis du Seigneur, 25c comme la parure des prés, ils passent et s’en vont en fumée.
21 The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth.	21 Le méchant emprunte, il ne rend pas; le juste a pitié et il donne.
22 For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off.	22 Ceux que Dieu bénit posséderont la terre, ceux qu’il maudit seront éliminés.
23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.	23 C’est le Seigneur qui maintient l’homme debout; il l’affermit quand il prend plaisir à sa conduite.
24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.	24 Si l’homme chute, il ne roule pas à terre, car le Seigneur le tenait par la main.
25 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.	25 J’ai été jeune, j’ai eu le temps de vieillir, mais je n’ai pas vu le juste abandonné, ni ses rejetons mendier leur pain.
26 He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.	26 Tout le jour il a compassion et il prête, et ses enfants ont une réussite exemplaire.
27 Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.	27 Détourne-toi du mal et fais le bien, ta maison sera stable pour toujours.
28 For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.	28 Car le Seigneur aime la justice, il n’abandonne pas ses fidèles. Mais la perte des mauvais est définitive, la race des méchants est extirpée.
29 The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever.	29 Les justes posséderont la terre, ils l’habiteront pour toujours.
30 The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.	30 La bouche du juste redit les mots de la sagesse, il parle pour dire ce qui est juste.
31 The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.	31 Si la loi de Dieu est dans son cœur, ses pas ne vacilleront pas.
32 The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.	32 Le mauvais observe tout du juste, car il voudrait le perdre.
33 The LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.	33 Mais le Seigneur ne le livrera pas, on peut le juger, il ne sera pas condamné.
34 Wait on the LORD, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.	34 Espère dans le Seigneur et reste sur sa voie, 40b il te délivrera des méchants 34b et t’élèvera jusqu’à posséder la terre. Le mauvais sera éliminé, tu le verras.
35 I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree.	35 J’ai vu le méchant devenu un tyran, il se dressait comme le cèdre du Liban.
36 Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.	36 Puis je suis repassé, il n’était déjà plus; je l’ai cherché, je n’ai pu le trouver.
37 Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.	37 Vois ceux qui sont parfaits, regarde l’homme droit: ceux qui aiment la paix laissent une descendance,
38 But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.	38 mais les pécheurs seront supprimés tous ensemble et la descendance des méchants sera exterminée.
39 But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength in the time of trouble.	39 Le salut des justes leur vient du Seigneur, il est leur refuge au temps du malheur.
40 And the LORD shall help them and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.	40 Le Seigneur les aide, 40c il les délivre de l’oppresseur et les sauve, car ils ont espéré en lui.
