Psalms 12

1 Help, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.	1 Al maestro di coro. Sull'ottava. Salmo. Di Davide.
2 They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.	2 Porta soccorso, o Signore, poiché finito è il fedele, scomparsi sono i giusti di mezzo ai figli degli uomini.
3 The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things:	3 L'uomo dice falsità al suo compagno, labbra ingannevoli e doppiezza di cuore sono le loro parole.
4 Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?	4 Possa stroncare il Signore ogni labbro ingannevole, ogni lingua dalle grandi parole.
5 For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.	5 Poiché hanno detto: "Con le nostre lingue saremo potenti; armi per noi sono le nostre labbra, chi potrà dominarci?".
6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.	6 "Al pianto dei poveri, al gemito dei miseri ora sorgerò, dice il Signore, porterò il soccorso a colui che lo brama".
7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.	7 Le promesse del Signore sono pure, quasi argento raffinato in fornace, sette volte purificato dalla terra.
8 The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.	8 Tu, o Signore, le manterrai e ci custodirai da questa gente in eterno.
	9 Dappertutto si aggirano gli empi, mentre si esaltano gli insolenti in mezzo ai figli degli uomini.
