KING JAMES BIBLEJERUSALEM
O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.1 Alleluia! Rendez grâce à Yahvé, criez son nom, annoncez parmi les peuples ses hauts faits;
Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works.2 chantez-le, jouez pour lui, récitez toutes ses merveilles;
Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.3 tirez gloire de son nom de sainteté, joie pour les coeurs qui cherchent Yahvé!
Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore.4 Recherchez Yahvé et sa force, sans relâche poursuivez sa face;
Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;5 rappelez-vous quelles merveilles il a faites, ses miracles et les jugements de sa bouche.
O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob his chosen.6 Lignée d'Abraham son serviteur, enfants de Jacob son élu,
He is the LORD our God: his judgments are in all the earth.7 c'est lui Yahvé notre Dieu: sur toute la terre ses jugements.
He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.8 Il se rappelle à jamais son alliance, parole promulguée pour mille générations,
Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac;9 pacte conclu avec Abraham, serment qu'il fit à Isaac.
And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant:10 Il l'érigea en loi pour Jacob, pour Israël en alliance à jamais,
Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance:11 disant: "Je te donne une terre, Canaan, votre part d'héritage."
When they were but a few men in number; yea, very few, and strangers in it.12 Tant qu'on put les compter, peu nombreux, étrangers au pays,
When they went from one nation to another, from one kingdom to another people;13 tant qu'ils allaient de nation en nation, d'un royaume à un peuple différent,
He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes;14 il ne laissa personne les opprimer, à cause d'eux il châtia des rois:
Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.15 "Ne touchez pas à qui m'est consacré; à mes prophètes ne faites pas de mal."
Moreover he called for a famine upon the land: he brake the whole staff of bread.16 Il appela sur le pays la famine, il brisa leur bâton, le pain;
He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant:17 il envoya devant eux un homme, Joseph vendu comme esclave.
Whose feet they hurt with fetters: he was laid in iron:18 On affligea ses pieds d'entraves, on lui passa les fers au cou;
Until the time that his word came: the word of the LORD tried him.19 le temps passa, son oracle s'accomplit, la parole de Yahvé le justifia.
The king sent and loosed him; even the ruler of the people, and let him go free.20 Le roi envoya l'élargir, le maître des peuples, lui ouvrir;
He made him lord of his house, and ruler of all his substance:21 il l'établit seigneur sur sa maison, maître de toute sa richesse,
To bind his princes at his pleasure; and teach his senators wisdom.22 pour instruire à son gré ses princes; de ses anciens il fit des sages.
Israel also came into Egypt; and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.23 Israël passa en Egypte, Jacob séjourna au pays de Cham.
And he increased his people greatly; and made them stronger than their enemies.24 Il fit croître son peuple abondamment, le fortifia plus que ses adversaires;
He turned their heart to hate his people, to deal subtilly with his servants.25 changeant leur coeur, il les fit haïr son peuple et ruser avec ses serviteurs.
He sent Moses his servant; and Aaron whom he had chosen.26 Il envoya son serviteur Moïse, Aaron qu'il s'était choisi;
They shewed his signs among them, and wonders in the land of Ham.27 ils firent chez eux les signes qu'il avait dits, des miracles au pays de Cham.
He sent darkness, and made it dark; and they rebelled not against his word.28 Il envoya la ténèbre et enténébra, mais ils bravèrent ses ordres.
He turned their waters into blood, and slew their fish.29 Il changea leurs eaux en sang et fit périr leurs poissons.
Their land brought forth frogs in abundance, in the chambers of their kings.30 Leur pays grouilla de grenouilles jusque dans les chambres des rois;
He spake, and there came divers sorts of flies, and lice in all their coasts.31 il dit, et les insectes passèrent, les moustiques sur toute la contrée.
He gave them hail for rain, and flaming fire in their land.32 Il leur donna pour pluie la grêle, flammes de feu sur leur pays;
He smote their vines also and their fig trees; and brake the trees of their coasts.33 il frappa leur vigne et leur figuier, il brisa les arbres de leur contrée.
He spake, and the locusts came, and caterpillers, and that without number,34 Il dit, et les sauterelles passèrent, les criquets, et ils étaient sans nombre,
And did eat up all the herbs in their land, and devoured the fruit of their ground.35 et ils mangèrent toute herbe en leur pays et ils mangèrent le fruit de leur terroir.
He smote also all the firstborn in their land, the chief of all their strength.36 Il frappa tout premier-né dans leur pays, toute la fleur de leur race;
He brought them forth also with silver and gold: and there was not one feeble person among their tribes.37 il les fit sortir avec or et argent, et pas un dans leurs tribus ne trébuchait.
Egypt was glad when they departed: for the fear of them fell upon them.38 L'Egypte se réjouit de leur sortie, elle en était saisie de terreur;
He spread a cloud for a covering; and fire to give light in the night.39 il déploya une nuée pour les couvrir, un feu pour éclairer de nuit.
The people asked, and he brought quails, and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.40 Ils demandèrent, il fit passer les cailles, du pain des cieux il les rassasia;
He opened the rock, and the waters gushed out; they ran in the dry places like a river.41 il ouvrit le rocher, les eaux jaillirent, dans le lieu sec elles coulaient comme un fleuve.
For he remembered his holy promise, and Abraham his servant.42 Se rappelant sa parole sacrée envers Abraham son serviteur,
And he brought forth his people with joy, and his chosen with gladness:43 il fit sortir son peuple dans l'allégresse, parmi les cris de joie, ses élus.
And gave them the lands of the heathen: and they inherited the labour of the people;44 Il leur donna les terres des païens, du labeur des nations ils héritèrent,
That they might observe his statutes, and keep his laws. Praise ye the LORD.45 en sorte qu'ils gardent ses décrets et qu'ils observent ses lois.
