Nehemiah 7

1 Now it came to pass, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and the porters and the singers and the Levites were appointed,	1 Quand le rempart fut reconstruit et que j'eus fixé les battants, les portiers (les chantres et leslévites) furent installés.
2 That I gave my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the ruler of the palace, charge over Jerusalem: for he was a faithful man, and feared God above many.	2 Je confiai l'administration de Jérusalem à Hanani, mon frère, et à Hananya, commandant de lacitadelle, car c'était un homme de confiance et qui craignait Dieu plus que beaucoup d'autres;
3 And I said unto them, Let not the gates of Jerusalem be opened until the sun be hot; and while they stand by, let them shut the doors, and bar them: and appoint watches of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, every one in his watch, and every one to be over against his house.	3 je leur dis: "Les portes de Jérusalem ne seront ouvertes que lorsque le soleil commencera àchauffer; et il sera encore haut quand on devra clore et verrouiller les battants; on établira des piquets de gardepris parmi les habitants de Jérusalem, chacun à son poste, et chacun devant sa maison."
4 Now the city was large and great: but the people were few therein, and the houses were not builded.	4 La ville était spacieuse et grande, mais ne comptait qu'une faible population et il n'y avait pas defamilles constituées.
5 And my God put into mine heart to gather together the nobles, and the rulers, and the people, that they might be reckoned by genealogy. And I found a register of the genealogy of them which came up at the first, and found written therein,	5 Aussi mon Dieu m'inspira-t-il de rassembler les grands, les magistrats et le peuple pour en faire lerecensement généalogique. Je mis la main sur le registre généalogique de ceux qui étaient revenus au début, etj'y trouvai consigné:
6 These are the children of the province, that went up out of the captivity, of those that had been carried away, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away, and came again to Jerusalem and to Judah, every one unto his city;	6 Voici les gens de la province qui revinrent de la captivité et de l'exil. Après avoir été déportés parNabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, ils retournèrent à Jérusalem et en Juda, chacun dans sa ville.
7 Who came with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Azariah, Raamiah, Nahamani, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispereth, Bigvai, Nehum, Baanah. The number, I say, of the men of the people of Israel was this;	7 Ils arrivèrent avec Zorobabel, Josué, Néhémie, Azarya, Raamya, Nahamani, Mordokaï, Bilshân,Mispérèt, Bigvaï, Nehum, Baana. 8 The children of Parosh, two thousand an hundred seventy and two.	8 les fils de Paréosh: 2.172;
9 The children of Shephatiah, three hundred seventy and two.	9 les fils de Shephatya: 372;
10 The children of Arah, six hundred fifty and two.	10 les fils d'Arah: 652;
11 The children of Pahath-moab, of the children of Jeshua and Joab, two thousand and eight hundred and eighteen.	11 les fils de Pahat-Moab, c'est-à-dire les fils de Josué et de Yoab: 2.818;

58 The children of Jaala, the children of Darkon, the children of Giddel,	58 les fils de Yaala, les fils de Darqôn, les fils de Giddel,
59 The children of Shephatiah, the children of Hattil, the children of Pochereth of Zebaim, the children of Amon.	59 les fils de Shephatya, les fils de Hattil, les fils de Pokérèt-ha-Cebayim, les fils d'Amôn.
60 All the Nethinims, and the children of Solomon's servants, were three hundred ninety and two.	60 Total des "donnés" et des fils des esclaves de Salomon: 392.
61 And these were they which went up also from Telmelah, Telharesha, Cherub, Addon, and Immer: but they could not shew their father's house, nor their seed, whether they were of Israel.	61 Les gens suivants, qui venaient de Tel-Mélah, Tel-Harsha, Kerub, Addôn et Immer, ne purentfaire connaître si leur famille et leur race étaient d'origine israélite:
62 The children of Delaiah, the children of Tobiah, the children of Nekoda, six hundred forty and two.	62 les fils de Delaya, les fils de Tobiyya, les fils de Neqoda: 642.
63 And of the priests: the children of Habaiah, the children of Koz, the children of Barzillai, which took one of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite to wife, and was called after their name.	63 Et parmi les prêtres, les fils de Hobayya, les fils d'Haqqoç, les fils de Barzillaï - celui-ci avait prispour femme l'une des filles de Barzillaï, le Galaadite, dont il adopta le nom.
64 These sought their register among those that were reckoned by genealogy, but it was not found: therefore were they, as polluted, put from the priesthood.	64 Ceux-là recherchèrent leur registre généalogique mais on ne le trouva pas: on les écarta donc dusacerdoce comme impurs,
65 And the Tirshatha said unto them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there stood up a priest with Urim and Thummim.	65 et Son Excellence leur interdit de manger des aliments sacrés jusqu'à ce qu'un prêtre se levât pourl'Urim et le Tummim.
66 The whole congregation together was forty and two thousand three hundred and threescore,	66 L'assemblée tout entière se montait à 42.360 individus,
67 Beside their manservants and their maidservants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty and seven: and they had two hundred forty and five singing men and singing women.	67 sans compter leurs esclaves et servantes au nombre de 7.337. Ils avaient aussi 245 chanteurs etchanteuses.
68 Their horses, seven hundred thirty and six: their mules, two hundred forty and five:	68 On comptait 435 chameaux et 6.720 ânes.
69 Their camels, four hundred thirty and five: six thousand seven hundred and twenty asses.	69 Un certain nombre de chefs de famille firent des dons pour les travaux. Son Excellence versa autrésor mille drachmes d'or, 50 coupes et 30 tuniques sacerdotales.
70 And some of the chief of the fathers gave unto the work. The Tirshatha gave to the treasure a thousand drams of gold, fifty basons, five hundred and thirty priests' garments.	70 Des chefs de famille versèrent au trésor des travaux 20.000 drachmes d'or et 2.200 minesd'argent.
71 And some of the chief of the fathers gave to the treasure of the work twenty thousand drams of gold, and two thousand and two hundred pound of silver.	71 Quant aux dons faits par le reste du peuple, ils se montèrent à 20.000 drachmes d'or, 2.000 minesd'argent et 67 tuniques sacerdotales.
72 And that which the rest of the people gave was twenty thousand drams of gold, and two thousand pound of silver, and threescore and seven priests' garments.	72 Prêtres, lévites et une partie du peuple s'installèrent à Jérusalem; portiers, chantres, "donnés" dansleurs villes, et tous les autres Israélites dans leurs villes. Or quand arriva le septième mois - les enfants d'Israëlétant ainsi dans leurs villes.
73 So the priests, and the Levites, and the porters, and the singers, and some of the people, and the Nethinims, and all Israel, dwelt in their cities; and when the seventh month came, the children of Israel were in their cities.
