Come let us praise the Lord with joy: let us joyfully sing to God our saviour. | 1 Come, let us sing joyfully to the LORD; cry out to the rock of our salvation. |
Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving; and make a joyful noise to him with psalms. | 2 Let us greet him with a song of praise, joyfully sing out our psalms. |
For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods. | 3 For the LORD is the great God, the great king over all gods, |
For in his hand are all the ends of the earth: and the heights of the mountains are his. | 4 Whose hand holds the depths of the earth; who owns the tops of the mountains. |
For the sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land. | 5 The sea and dry land belong to God, who made them, formed them by hand. |
Come let us adore and fall down: and weep before the Lord that made us. | 6 Enter, let us bow down in worship; let us kneel before the LORD who made us. |
For he is the Lord our God: and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand. | 7 For this is our God, whose people we are, God's well-tended flock. Oh, that today you would hear his voice: |
To day if you shall hear his voice, harden not your hearts: | 8 Do not harden your hearts as at Meribah, as on the day of Massah in the desert. |
As in the provocation, according to the day of temptation in the wilderness: where your fathers tempted me, they proved me, and saw my works. | 9 There your ancestors tested me; they tried me though they had seen my works. |
Forty years long was I offended with that generation, and I said: These always err in heart. | 10 Forty years I loathed that generation; I said: "This people's heart goes astray; they do not know my ways." |
And these men have not known my ways: so I swore in my wrath that they shall not enter into my rest. | 11 Therefore I swore in my anger: "They shall never enter my rest." |
