DIODATI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 OR questa fu la sorte della tribù de’ figliuoli di Giuda, per le lor nazioni: L’estremità del lor paese verso il Mezzodì fu il deserto di Sin, a’ confini di Edom, verso il Mezzodì.	1 The portion falling to the tribe of the sons of Judah, by clans, was near the frontier of Edom, from thedesert of Zin southwards to Kadesh in the south.
2 Così ebbero per confine dal Mezzodì, l’estremità del mar salso, dalla punta che riguarda verso il Mezzodì.	2 Their southern frontier began at the tip of the Salt Sea, at the southerly bay;
3 E questo confine procedeva verso il Mezzodì, alla salita di Acrabbim, e passava fino a Sin; e dal Mezzodì saliva a Cades-barnea, e passava in Hesron; e di là saliva in Adar, e poi si volgeva verso Carcaa;	3 it proceeded south of the Ascent of Scorpions, crossed Zin and came up to Kadesh-Barnea from thesouth; past Hezron, it went on to Addar and turned towards Karka;
4 poi passava verso Asmon, e si stendeva fino al Torrente di Egitto, e questo confine faceva capo al mare. Questo sarà, disse Giosuè, il vostro confine meridionale.	4 the frontier then went on to Azmon, came out at the Torrent of Egypt and reached as far as the sea.This is to be your southern frontier.
5 E il confine orientale fu il mar salso, fino all’estremità del Giordano. E il confine dal lato settentrionale fu dalla punta di quel mare, la quale è all’estremità del Giordano.	5 The eastern frontier was the Salt Sea as far as the mouth of the Jordan.
6 E questo confine saliva in Bet-hogla, e passava dal lato settentrionale di Bet-araba, e di là saliva al Sasso di Bohan Rubenita;	6 The northern boundary began at the bay at the mouth of the Jordan. The boundary went up to Beth-Hoglah, passed north of Beth-ha-Arabah and went on to the Stone of Bohan son of Reuben.
7 poi saliva in Debir, dalla valle di Acor; e dal Settentrione riguardava verso Ghilgal, che è dirimpetto alla salita di Adummim, che è dal lato meridionale del torrente; poi questo confine passava alle acque di En-semes, e faceva capo ad En-roghel.	7 The boundary then went on to Debir from the Vale of Achor and turned north towards the stone circleopposite the Ascent of Adummim, which is south of the Torrent; the boundary went on to the Waters of En-Shemesh and came out at En-Rogel.
8 Poi questo confine saliva alla valle de’ figliuoli di Hinnom, allato alla città de’ Gebusei, dal Mezzodì, la quale è Gerusalemme; e di là saliva alla sommità del monte, che è dirimpetto alla valle di Hinnom, verso l’Occidente, il quale è all’estremità della valle de’ Rafei, verso il Settentrione.	8 It then went back up the Val ey of Hinnom, coming from the south to the flank of the Jebusite -- that is,Jerusalem -- and climbed to the crest of the mountain barring the Valley of Hinnom to the west, at the northernend of the Val ey of the Rephaim.
9 Poi questo confine girava dalla sommità di quel monte, verso la fonte delle acque di Neftoa, e procedeva verso le città del monte di Efron; poi girava verso Baala, che è Chiriat-iearim.	9 From the mountain top, the boundary curved round to the spring of the Waters of Nephtoah, went on tothe towns of Mount Ephron and then turned towards Baalah -- that is, Kiriath-Jearim.
10 Poi questo confine si volgeva da Baala verso Occidente, al monte di Seir, e passava fino allato al monte di Iearim dal Settentrione, nel luogo detto Chesalon; poi scendeva in Bet-semes, e passava in Timna.	10 From Baalah, the boundary curved westwards to the highlands of Seir, skirted the northern slope ofMount Jearim -- that is, Chesalon -- went down to Beth-Shemesh and through Timnah,
11 Poi questo confine procedeva al canto di Ecron, verso il Settentrione, e girava verso Siccheron, e passava al monte Baala, e si stendeva fino a Iabneel, e faceva capo al mare.	11 came out on the northern flank of Ekron, turned towards Shikkeron and, passing through thehighlands of Baalah, came out at Jabneel, and reached as far as the sea.
12 E il confine dall’Occidente era il mar grande, e i confini. Questi furono i confini de’ figliuoli di Giuda d’ogni intorno, secondo le lor nazioni	12 The western boundary was the Great Sea itself. Such was the frontier surrounding the sons of Judah,by clans.
13 Or Giosuè avea data a Caleb, figliuolo di Gefunne, una porzione nel mezzo dei figliuoli di Giuda, secondo il comandamento fattogli dal Signore, cioè: Chiriat-Arba, il quale Arba fu padre di Anac; essa è Hebron.	13 Caleb son of Jephunneh was given a share within that of the sons of Judah, in accordance withYahweh's order to Joshua: Kiriath-Arba, the town of the father of Anak -- that is, Hebron.
14 E Caleb scacciò di là i tre figliuoli di Anac, Sesai, ed Ahiman, e Talmai, nati di Anac.	14 Caleb drove out the three sons of Anak: Sheshai, Ahiman and Talmai, descended from Anak.
15 E di là egli salì agli abitanti di Debir, il cui nome per addietro era stato Chiriat-sefer.	15 From there he marched on the inhabitants of Debir; Debir in olden days was cal ed Kiriath-Sepher.
16 E Caleb disse: Chi percoterà Chiriat-sefer, e la prenderà, io gli darò Asca, mia figliuola, per moglie.	16 Caleb then said, 'To the man who attacks and takes Kiriath-Sepher, I shal give my daughter Achsahas wife.'
17 E Otniel, figliuolo di Chenaz, fratello di Caleb, la prese; e Caleb gli diede Acsa, sua figliuola, per moglie.	17 The man who captured it was Othniel son of Kenaz, brother of Caleb, who gave him his daughterAchsah as wife.
18 E quando ella venne a marito, indusse Otniel a domandare un campo a suo padre; poi ella si gittò giù d’in su l’asino; e Caleb le disse: Che hai?	18 When she arrived, he urged her to ask her father for arable land, but when she alighted from thedonkey and Caleb asked her, 'What is the matter?'
19 Ed ella disse: Fammi un dono; conciossiachè tu m’abbi data una terra asciutta, dammi anche delle fonti d’acque. Ed egli le donò delle fonti ch’erano disopra, e delle fonti ch’erano disotto	19 she said to him, 'Grant me a blessing! As the land you have given me is the Negeb, give me springsof water too!' So Caleb gave her what she wanted, the upper springs and the lower springs.
20 Quest’è l’eredità della tribù de’ figliuoli di Giuda, secondo le lor nazioni.	20 Such was the heritage of the tribe of the sons of Judah, by clans.
21 Nell’estremità della contrada della tribù de’ figliuoli di Giuda, a’ confini di Edom, verso il Mezzodì, v’erano queste città: Cabseel, ed Eder, e Iagur;	21 Towns at the extremity of the tribe of the sons of Judah, near the frontier of Edom in the Negeb:Kabzeel, Arad, Jagur,
22 e China, e Dimona, e Adada;	22 Kinah, Dimon, Aroer,
23 e Chedes, e Hasor, e Itnan;	23 Kedesh, Hazor-Ithnan,
24 e Zif, e Telem, e Bealot;	24 Ziph, Telem, Bealoth,
25 e Hasor-hadatta e Cheriot Hesron è Hasor;	25 Hazor-Hadattah, Kiriath-Hezron -- that is, Hazor-
26 e Amam e Sema, e Molada;	26 Amam, Shema, Moladah,
27 e Hasar-gadda, e Hesmon, e Betpelet;	27 Hazar-Gaddah, Heshmon, Beth-Pelet,
28 e Hasar-sual, e Beerseba, e Biziotia; e Baala, e Iim, ed Esem;	28 Hazar-Shual, Beersheba and its dependencies,

33 Nella pianura v’erano queste città: Estaol, e Sorea, e Asna;	33 In the lowlands: Eshtaol, Zorah, Ashnah,
34 e Zanoa, ed En-gannim, e Tappua, ed Enam;	34 Zanoah, En-Gannim, Tappuah, Enam,
35 e Iarmut, e Adullam, e Soco, e Azeca;	35 Jarmuth, Adul am, Socoh, Azekah,
36 e Saaraim, e Aditaim, e Ghedera, e Ghederotaim; quattordici città, con le lor villate.	36 Shaaraim, Aditaim, Ha-Gederah and Gederothaim: fourteen towns with their vil ages.
37 Poi Senan, e Hadasa, e Migdal-Gad;	37 Zenan, Hadashah, Migdal-Gad,

44 e Cheila, e Aczib, e Maresa; nove città, con le lor villate;	44 Keilah, Achzib and Mareshah: nine towns with their vil ages.
45 poi Ecron, e le terre del suo territorio, e le sue villate;	45 Ekron with its dependencies and its vil ages.
46 da Ecron, e verso il mare, tutte le città che sono presso di Asdod, con le lor villate.	46 From Ekron to the sea, everything to the side of Ashdod, with its vil ages.
47 Poi Asdod, e le terre del suo territorio, e le sue villate; Gaza, e le terre del suo territorio, e le sue villate, infino al Torrente di Egitto, e al mar grande, e i confini.	47 Ashdod with its dependencies and its vil ages; Gaza with its dependencies and its vil ages as far asthe Torrent of Egypt, the Great Sea forming the boundary.
48 E nel monte v’erano queste città: Samir, e Iattir, e Soco;	48 In the highlands: Shamir, Jattir, Socoh,
49 e Danna, e Chiriat-sanna, che è Debir;	49 Dannah, Kiriath-Sepher, now Debir,
50 e Anab, ed Estemo, e Anim;	50 Anab, Eshtemoh, Anim,
51 e Gosen, e Holon, e Ghilo; undici città, con le lor villate.	51 Goshen, Holon and Giloh: eleven towns with their vil ages.
52 Poi Arab, e Duma, ed Esan;	52 Arab, Dumah, Eshan,
53 e Ianum, e Bet-tappua, e Afeca;	53 Janum, Beth-Tappuah, Aphekah,
54 e Humta, e Chiriat-Arba, che è Hebron, e Sior; nove città, con le lor villate.	54 Humtah, Kiriath-Arba, now Hebron, and Zior: nine towns with their vil ages.
55 Poi Maon, e Carmel, e Zif, e Iuta;	55 Maon, Carmel, Ziph, Juttah,
56 e Izreel, e Iocdeam, e Zanoa;	56 Jezreel, Jokdeam, Zanoah,
57 e Cain, e Ghibea, e Timna; dieci città, con le lor villate;	57 Ha-Kain, Gibeah and Timnah: ten towns with their vil ages.
58 poi Halhul, e Bet-sur, e Ghedor;	58 Halhul, Beth-Zur, Gedor,
59 e Maarat, e Bet-anot, ed Eltecon; sei città, con le lor villate.	59 Maarath, Beth-Anoth and Eltekon: six towns with their vil ages. Tekoa, Ephrathah, now Bethlehem,Peor, Etam, Kulon, Tatam, Sores, Carem, Gallim, Bether and Manach: eleven towns with their vil ages.
60 Poi Chiriat-baal, che è Chiriat-iearim, e Rabba; due città, con le lor villate.	60 Kiriath-Baal, that is Kiriath-Jearim, and Rabbah: two towns with their vil ages.
61 Nel deserto v’erano queste città: Bet-araba, e Middin, e Secaca;	61 In the desert: Beth-Arabah, Middin, Secacah,
62 e Nibsan, e la Città del sale, ed Enghedi; sei città, con le lor villate.	62 Nibshan, Salt Town and En-Gedi: six towns with their vil ages.
63 Or i figliuoli di Giuda non poterono scacciare i Gebusei che abitavano in Gerusalemme; perciò i Gebusei son dimorati in Gerusalemme co’ figliuoli di Giuda, infino a questo giorno	63 The Jebusites, however, who lived in Jerusalem, the sons of Judah were unable to dispossess, andthe Jebusites stil live in Jerusalem today, side by side with the sons of Judah.
