1 OR questa fu la sorte della tribù de’ figliuoli di Giuda, per le lor nazioni: L’estremità del lor paese verso il Mezzodì fu il deserto di Sin, a’ confini di Edom, verso il Mezzodì.	1 The lot for the clans of the Judahite tribe fell in the extreme south toward the boundary of Edom, the desert of Zin in the Negeb.
2 Così ebbero per confine dal Mezzodì, l’estremità del mar salso, dalla punta che riguarda verso il Mezzodì.	2 The boundary there ran from the bay that forms the southern end of the Salt Sea,
3 E questo confine procedeva verso il Mezzodì, alla salita di Acrabbim, e passava fino a Sin; e dal Mezzodì saliva a Cades-barnea, e passava in Hesron; e di là saliva in Adar, e poi si volgeva verso Carcaa;	3 southward below the pass of Akrabbim, across through Zin, up to a point south of Kadesh-barnea, across to Hezron, and up to Addar; from there, looping around Karka,
4 poi passava verso Asmon, e si stendeva fino al Torrente di Egitto, e questo confine faceva capo al mare. Questo sarà, disse Giosuè, il vostro confine meridionale.	4 it crossed to Azmon and then joined the Wadi of Egypt before coming out at the sea. (This is your southern boundary.)
5 E il confine orientale fu il mar salso, fino all’estremità del Giordano. E il confine dal lato settentrionale fu dalla punta di quel mare, la quale è all’estremità del Giordano.	5 The eastern boundary was the Salt Sea as far as the mouth of the Jordan.
6 E questo confine saliva in Bet-hogla, e passava dal lato settentrionale di Bet-araba, e di là saliva al Sasso di Bohan Rubenita;	6 The northern boundary climbed from the bay where the Jordan meets the sea, up to Beth-hoglah, and ran north of Beth-arabah, up to Eben-Bohan-ben-Reuben.
7 poi saliva in Debir, dalla valle di Acor; e dal Settentrione riguardava verso Ghilgal, che è dirimpetto alla salita di Adummim, che è dal lato meridionale del torrente; poi questo confine passava alle acque di En-semes, e faceva capo ad En-roghel.	7 Thence it climbed to Debir, north of the vale of Achor, in the direction of the Gilgal that faces the pass of Adummim, on the south side of the wadi; from there it crossed to the waters of En-shemesh and emerged at En-rogel.
8 Poi questo confine saliva alla valle de’ figliuoli di Hinnom, allato alla città de’ Gebusei, dal Mezzodì, la quale è Gerusalemme; e di là saliva alla sommità del monte, che è dirimpetto alla valle di Hinnom, verso l’Occidente, il quale è all’estremità della valle de’ Rafei, verso il Settentrione.	8 Climbing again to the Valley of Ben-hinnom on the southern flank of the Jebusites (that is, Jerusalem), the boundary rose to the top of the mountain at the northern end of the Valley of Rephaim, which bounds the Valley of Hinnom on the west.
9 Poi questo confine girava dalla sommità di quel monte, verso la fonte delle acque di Neftoa, e procedeva verso le città del monte di Efron; poi girava verso Baala, che è Chiriat-iearim.	9 From the top of the mountain it ran to the fountain of waters of Nephtoah, extended to the cities of Mount Ephron, and continued to Baalah, or Kiriath-jearim.
10 Poi questo confine si volgeva da Baala verso Occidente, al monte di Seir, e passava fino allato al monte di Iearim dal Settentrione, nel luogo detto Chesalon; poi scendeva in Bet-semes, e passava in Timna.	10 From Baalah the boundary curved westward to Mount Seir and passed north of the ridge of Mount Jearim (that is, Chesalon); thence it descended to Beth-shemesh, and ran across to Timnah.
11 Poi questo confine procedeva al canto di Ecron, verso il Settentrione, e girava verso Siccheron, e passava al monte Baala, e si stendeva fino a Iabneel, e faceva capo al mare.	11 It then extended along the northern flank of Ekron, continued through Shikkeron, and across to Mount Baalah, thence to include Jabneel, before it came out at the sea.
12 E il confine dall’Occidente era il mar grande, e i confini. Questi furono i confini de’ figliuoli di Giuda d’ogni intorno, secondo le lor nazioni	12 The western boundary was the Great Sea and its coast. This was the complete boundary of the clans of the Judahites.
13 Or Giosuè avea data a Caleb, figliuolo di Gefunne, una porzione nel mezzo dei figliuoli di Giuda, secondo il comandamento fattogli dal Signore, cioè: Chiriat-Arba, il quale Arba fu padre di Anac; essa è Hebron.	13 As the LORD had commanded, Joshua gave Caleb, son of Jephunneh, a portion among the Judahites, namely, Kiriath-arba (Arba was the father of Anak), that is, Hebron.
14 E Caleb scacciò di là i tre figliuoli di Anac, Sesai, ed Ahiman, e Talmai, nati di Anac.	14 And Caleb drove out from there the three Anakim, the descendants of Anak: Sheshai, Ahiman and Talmai.
15 E di là egli salì agli abitanti di Debir, il cui nome per addietro era stato Chiriat-sefer.	15 From there he marched up against the inhabitants of Debir, which was formerly called Kiriath-sepher.
16 E Caleb disse: Chi percoterà Chiriat-sefer, e la prenderà, io gli darò Asca, mia figliuola, per moglie.	16 Caleb said, "I will give my daughter Achsah in marriage to the one who attacks Kiriath-sepher and captures it."
17 E Otniel, figliuolo di Chenaz, fratello di Caleb, la prese; e Caleb gli diede Acsa, sua figliuola, per moglie.	17 Othniel, son of Caleb's brother Kenaz, captured it, and so Caleb gave him his daughter Achsah in marriage.
18 E quando ella venne a marito, indusse Otniel a domandare un campo a suo padre; poi ella si gittò giù d’in su l’asino; e Caleb le disse: Che hai?	18 On the day of her marriage to Othniel, she induced him to ask her father for some land. Then, as she alighted from the ass, Caleb asked her, "What is troubling you?"
19 Ed ella disse: Fammi un dono; conciossiachè tu m’abbi data una terra asciutta, dammi anche delle fonti d’acque. Ed egli le donò delle fonti ch’erano disopra, e delle fonti ch’erano disotto	19 She answered, "Give me an additional gift! Since you have assigned to me land in the Negeb, give me also pools of water." So he gave her the upper and the lower pools.
20 Quest’è l’eredità della tribù de’ figliuoli di Giuda, secondo le lor nazioni.	20 This is the heritage of the clans of the tribe of Judahites:
21 Nell’estremità della contrada della tribù de’ figliuoli di Giuda, a’ confini di Edom, verso il Mezzodì, v’erano queste città: Cabseel, ed Eder, e Iagur;	21 The cities of the tribe of the Judahites in the extreme southern district toward Edom were: Kabzeel, Eder, Jagur,
22 e China, e Dimona, e Adada;	22 Kinah, Dimonah, Adadah,
23 e Chedes, e Hasor, e Itnan;	23 Kedesh, Hazor and Ithnan;
24 e Zif, e Telem, e Bealot;	24 Ziph, Telem, Bealoth,
25 e Hasor-hadatta e Cheriot Hesron è Hasor;	25 Hazor-hadattah, and Kerioth-hezron (that is, Hazor);
26 e Amam e Sema, e Molada;	26 Amam, Shema, Moladah,
27 e Hasar-gadda, e Hesmon, e Betpelet;	27 Hazar-gaddah, Heshmon, Beth-pelet,
28 e Hasar-sual, e Beerseba, e Biziotia; e Baala, e Iim, ed Esem;	28 Hazar-shual, Beer-sheba and Biziothiah;

61 Nel deserto v’erano queste città: Bet-araba, e Middin, e Secaca;	61 In the desert: Beth-arabah, Middin, Secacah,
62 e Nibsan, e la Città del sale, ed Enghedi; sei città, con le lor villate.	62 Nibshan, Ir-hamelah and En-gedi; six cities and their villages.
63 Or i figliuoli di Giuda non poterono scacciare i Gebusei che abitavano in Gerusalemme; perciò i Gebusei son dimorati in Gerusalemme co’ figliuoli di Giuda, infino a questo giorno	63 (But the Jebusites who lived in Jerusalem the Judahites could not drive out; so the Jebusites dwell in Jerusalem beside the Judahites to the present day.)
