1 Grida pure, vi sarà egli alcuno che ti risponda? Ed a cui d’infra i santi ti rivolgerai tu?	1 Therefore call, if there are any who will respond to you, and turn to one or another of the saints.
2 Conciossiachè il cruccio uccida il pazzo, E lo sdegno faccia morir lo stolto.	2 Truly, anger condemns the foolish to death, and envy kills the petty.
3 Io ho veduto il pazzo che si radicava; Ma incontanente ho maledetto il suo abitacolo.	3 I have seen a fool with a strong root, and I have cursed his excellence without hesitation.
4 I suoi figliuoli son lungi dalla salvezza, E sono oppressati nella porta, senza che alcuno li riscuota.	4 His sons will be far from prosperity and will be crushed at the gate, and there will be none who can rescue them.
5 L’affamato divora la ricolta di esso, E la rapisce di mezzo le spine; E i ladroni trangugiano le sue facoltà	5 Their harvest, the starving will eat. The armed man will rob him, and the thirsty will drink his resources.
6 Perciocchè la sventura non ispunta dalla polvere, E il dolore non germoglia dalla terra;	6 Nothing on earth occurs without a reason, and sorrow does not rise from the earth.
7 Benchè l’uomo nasca per soffrire, Come le faville delle brace per volare in alto.	7 Man is born to labor, and the bird to fly.
8 Ma quant’è a me, io ricercherei pure Iddio, Ed addirizzerei il mio ragionamento a Dio;	8 Therefore, because of this, I will beg the Lord, and place my eloquence before God.
9 Il quale fa cose sì grandi, che non si posson investigare; E tante cose maravigliose, che non si possono annoverare;	9 He does great and unfathomable and miraculous things without number.
10 Che manda la pioggia in su la terra, E le acque in su le campagne;	10 He gives rain over the face of the earth and irrigates all things with the waters.
11 Che innalza i bassi, E fa che quelli ch’erano in duolo sono esaltati per salvazione;	11 He places the humble on high and encourages the grieving towards health.
12 Che disperde i pensieri degli astuti, E fa che le lor mani non possono far nulla di bene ordinato.	12 He dispels the thoughts of the spiteful, lest their hands be able to complete what they had begun.
13 Egli soprapprende i savi nella loro astuzia, E fa che il consiglio de’ perversi va in ruina.	13 He catches the wise in their cleverness and dissipates the counsel of the perverse.
14 Di giorno scontrano tenebre, E in pien mezzodì vanno a tentone come di notte.	14 They will encounter darkness in the daytime, and they will grope at midday just as in the night.
15 Ma egli salva il bisognoso dalla spada, Dalla gola loro, e dalla mano del possente.	15 Thereafter, he will act to save the needy from the sword of their mouth, and the poor from the hand of the violent.
16 E vi è qualche speranza per lo misero; Ma l’iniquità ha la bocca turata	16 And there will be hope for those in need, for iniquity will diminish its speech.
17 Ecco, beato è l’uomo, il quale Iddio castiga; E però non disdegnar la correzione dell’Onnipotente.	17 Blessed is the man whom God corrects; therefore, do not reject the chastisement of the Lord.
18 Perciocchè egli è quel che manda la doglia e altresì la fascia; Egli è quel che fa la piaga, e le sue mani altresì guariscono.	18 For he wounds and he cures; he strikes and his hands will heal.
19 In sei afflizioni egli ti libererà, Ed in sette il male non ti toccherà.	19 He will deliver you into six tribulations, and in the seventh, evil will not touch you.
20 In tempo di fame egli ti riscoterà dalla morte, E in tempo di guerra dalla spada.	20 During famine, he will rescue you from death, and during war, from the hand of the sword.
21 Al tempo del flagello della lingua tu sarai nascosto; E non temerai la desolazione, quando verrà.	21 You will be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, and you will not fear calamity when it arrives.
22 Tu riderai del guasto e della carestia; E non temerai delle fiere della terra.	22 In desolation and in famine, you will laugh, and you will not dread the beasts of the earth.
23 Perciocchè tu avrai patto eziandio con le pietre de’ campi; E le fiere della campagna ti saranno rendute pacifiche.	23 For you are in harmony with the stones of the land, and the beasts of the earth will make peace with you.
24 E tu conoscerai per prova che il tuo padiglione non sarà se non pace, E governerai la tua casa, e nulla ti verrà fallito.	24 And you will know that your home has peace, and, concerning your appearance, you will not sin.
25 E riconoscerai che la tua progenie sarà molta, E che i tuoi discendenti saranno come l’erba della terra.	25 Likewise, you will know that your offspring will be manifold and your progeny will be like the grass of the earth.
26 Tu entrerai in estrema vecchiezza nel sepolcro, Come la bica delle biade è accumulata al suo tempo.	26 You will enter the grave with abundance, just as a crop of wheat is gathered in its time.
27 Ecco ciò noi ti diciamo; noi l’abbiamo investigato; egli è così; Ascoltalo, e riconoscilo	27 Behold, this is just as we have found it, which you have heard; walk it through your mind.
