Giobbe 32

DIODATI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 ORA essendo que’ tre uomini restati di rispondere a Giobbe, perchè gli pareva di esser giusto;	1 These three men stopped arguing with Job, because he was convinced of his uprightness.
2 Elihu, figliuolo di Baracheel, Buzita, della nazione di Ram, si accese nell’ira contro a Giobbe, perchè giustificava sè stesso anzi che Iddio;	2 But Elihu son of Barachel the Buzite, of the clan of Ram, became very angry. He fumed with rageagainst Job for thinking that he was right and God was wrong;
3 e contro a’ tre amici di esso, perciocchè non aveano trovata alcuna replica, e pure aveano condannato Giobbe.	3 and he was equal y angry with the three friends for giving up the argument and thus putting God in thewrong.
4 Ora Elihu avea aspettato che Giobbe avesse parlato; perciocchè egli ed i suoi amici erano più attempati di lui.	4 While they and Job were talking, Elihu had waited, because they were older than he was;
5 Ma, veggendo che non vi era replica alcuna nella bocca di que’ tre uomini, egli si accese nell’ira	5 but when he saw that the three men had not another word to say in answer, his anger burst out.
6 Ed Elihu, figliuolo di Baracheel, Buzita, parlò, e disse: Io son giovane, e voi siete molto attempati; Perciò io ho avuta paura, ed ho temuto Di dichiararvi il mio parere.	6 And Elihu son of Barachel the Buzite began to speak. He said: I am stil young, and you are old, so Iwas shy and hesitant to tel you what I know.
7 Io diceva: L’età parlerà, E la moltitudine degli anni farà conoscere la sapienza.	7 I thought, 'Age ought to speak, advancing years wil convey wisdom.'
8 Certo lo spirito è negli uomini, Ma l’inspirazione dell’Onnipotente li fa intendere.	8 There is, you see, a spirit residing in humanity, the breath of God conferring intelligence.
9 I maggiori non son sempre savi; E i vecchi non intendono sempre la dirittura.	9 Great age does not give wisdom, nor seniority fair judgement.
10 Perciò io ho detto: Ascoltatemi; Ed io ancora dichiarerò il mio parere.	10 And so I ask you for a hearing; now it is my turn to tel what I know.
11 Ecco, io ho aspettate le vostre parole, Io ho pòrto l’orecchio alle vostre considerazioni, Finchè voi aveste ricercati de’ ragionamenti.	11 Up to now, I was hanging on your words, I paid attention to your arguments as each of you chose hiswords.
12 Ma avendo posto mente a voi, Ecco, non vi è alcun di voi che convinca Giobbe, Che risponda a’ suoi ragionamenti;	12 I paid very close attention; and I see that none of you has confounded Job, not one of you has refutedwhat he says.
13 Che talora non diciate: Noi abbiamo trovata la sapienza; Scaccilo ora Iddio, e non un uomo.	13 So do not say, 'We have found wisdom; our teaching is divine and not human.'
14 Or egli non ha ordinati i suoi ragionamenti contro a me; Io altresì non gli risponderò secondo le vostre parole	14 I am not going to follow the same line of argument; my reply to Job wil be couched in different terms.
15 Essi si sono sgomentati, non hanno più risposto; Le parole sono state loro tolte di bocca.	15 They are nonplussed for an answer, words have failed them.
16 Io dunque ho aspettato; ma perciocchè non parlano più, Perchè restano e non rispondono più;	16 I have been waiting. Since they do not speak, since they have given up the argument,
17 Io ancora risponderò per la parte mia; Io ancora dichiarerò il mio parere;	17 now I shal have my say, my turn has come to say what I know.
18 Perciocchè io son pieno di parole, Lo spirito del mio ventre mi stringe.	18 For I am ful of words and forced to speak by a spirit within me;
19 Ecco, il mio ventre è come un vino che non ha spiraglio, E schianterebbesi come barili nuovi.	19 within me, it feels like new wine seeking a vent, bursting out of new wine-skins.
20 Io parlerò adunque, ed avrò alcuna respirazione; Io aprirò le mie labbra, e risponderò.	20 To gain relief, I must speak, I must open my lips and reply.
21 Già non mi avvenga di aver riguardo alla qualità della persona di alcuno; Io non m’infingerò parlando ad un uomo.	21 I shall not take anyone's side, I shall not flatter anyone.
22 Perciocchè io non so infingermi; Altrimenti, colui che mi ha fatto di subito mi torrebbe via	22 I do not know how to flatter -- or my Creator would make short work of me.
