SAGRADA BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Por isto se espantou o meu coração, e pulou fora de seu lugar.	1 At this, my very heart quakes and leaps out of its place.
2 Escutai, escutai o brado de sua voz, o estrondo que lhe sai da boca!	2 Listen, oh listen, to the blast of his voice and the sound that issues from his mouth.
3 Enche dele toda a extensão dos céus, e seus relâmpagos vão atingir os confins da terra.	3 His lightning is hurled across the heaven, it strikes to the extremities of earth.
4 Logo depois ruge uma voz, troveja com sua voz majestosa. Não retém mais seus raios quando se faz ouvir.	4 After it comes a roaring sound, God thunders with majestic voice. He does not check his thunderboltsuntil his voice resounds no more.
5 Deus troveja com uma voz maravilhosa, faz prodígios que nos são incompreensíveis.	5 Yes, certainly God shows us marvels and does great deeds that we cannot understand.
6 Diz à neve: Cai sobre a terra, às pancadas de chuva: Sede fortes.	6 When he says to the snow, 'Fal on the earth!' to the showers, 'Now rain hard!'
7 Ele põe selos sobre as mãos dos homens, a fim de que todos os mortais reconheçam seu criador.	7 he brings al human activity to a standstil , for everyone to acknowledge his work.
8 A fera também entra em seu covil, e encolhe-se em sua toca.	8 The animals go back to their dens and take shelter in their lairs.
9 O furacão sai da câmara do sul, e do norte chega o frio.	9 The storm wind comes from the Mansion of the South, and the north winds usher in the cold.
10 Ao sopro de Deus forma-se a neve, e a superfície das águas se endurece.	10 At the breath of God, ice comes next, the surface of the waters hardens over.
11 Carrega as nuvens de vapor, as nuvens lançam por toda parte seus relâmpagos	11 He weighs the clouds down with moisture, and the storm clouds radiate his lightning.
12 que vão em todos os sentidos sob sua direção, para realizar tudo quanto ele ordena na face da terra.	12 He himself guides their wheeling motion presiding over their seasonal changes. They carry out hisorders to the letter al over this earthly world.
13 Ora é o castigo que eles trazem, ora seus benefícios.	13 Whether to punish earth's peoples or as a work of faithful love, he despatches them.
14 Escuta isto, Jó, pára e considera as maravilhas de Deus.	14 Listen to this, Job, without flinching and reflect on the marvel ous works of God.
15 Sabes como ele as opera, e faz brilhar o relâmpago de sua nuvem?	15 Do you know how God controls them or how his clouds make the lightning flash?
16 Sabes a lei do equilíbrio das nuvens, e o milagre daquele cuja ciência é infinita?	16 Do you know how he balances the clouds -- a miracle of consummate skil ?
17 Por que são quentes as tuas vestes, quando repousa a terra ao sopro do meio-dia?	17 When your clothes are hot to your body and the earth lies stil under the south wind,
18 Saberás, como ele, estender as nuvens, e torná-las sólidas como um espelho de metal fundido?	18 can you, like him, stretch out the sky, tempered like a mirror of cast metal?
19 Dá-me a conhecer o que lhe diremos. Mergulhados em nossas trevas, só sabemos objetar.	19 Teach me what we should say to him: but better discuss no further, since we are in the dark.
20 Quem lhe repetirá o que digo? Acaso pedirá um homem a sua própria perdição?	20 Does he take note when I speak? When human beings give orders, does he take it in?
21 Agora já não se vê a luz, o sol brilha através das nuvens; passe um golpe de vento, e ele as varrerá;	21 There are times when the light vanishes, behind darkening clouds; then comes the wind, sweepingthem away.
22 a luz vem do norte. Deus está envolto numa majestade temível;	22 and brightness spreads from the north. God is clothed in fearful splendour:
23 não podemos atingir o Todo-poderoso: eminente em força, em eqüidade, em justiça, não tem a dar contas a ninguém.	23 he, Shaddai, is far beyond our reach. Supreme in power, in equity, excel ing in saving justice, yet nooppressor-
24 Que os homens, pois, o reverenciem! Ele não olha aqueles que se julgam sábios.	24 no wonder then that people fear him: everyone thoughtful holds him in awe!
