Psalms 140

1 A Psalm of David. O Lord, I have cried out to you, hear me. Attend to my voice, when I cry out to you.	1 Al maestro del coro. Salmo. Di Davide.
2 Let my prayer be guided like incense in your sight: the lifting up of my hands, like the evening sacrifice.	2 Liberami, Signore, dall’uomo malvagio,proteggimi dall’uomo violento,
3 O Lord, station a guard over my mouth and a door enclosing my lips.	3 da quelli che tramano cose malvagie nel cuoree ogni giorno scatenano guerre.
4 Do not turn aside my heart to words of malice, to making excuses for sins, with men who work iniquity; and I will not communicate, even with the best of them.	4 Aguzzano la lingua come serpenti,veleno di vipera è sotto le loro labbra.
5 The just one will correct me with mercy, and he will rebuke me. But do not allow the oil of the sinner to fatten my head. For my prayer will still be toward their good will.	5 Proteggimi, Signore, dalle mani dei malvagi,salvami dall’uomo violento:essi tramano per farmi cadere.
6 Their judges have been engulfed, joined to the rocks. They will hear my words, which have prevailed,	6 I superbi hanno nascosto lacci e funi,hanno teso una rete sul mio sentieroe contro di me hanno preparato agguati.
7 as when the lava of the earth has erupted above ground. Our bones have been scattered beside Hell.	7 Io dico al Signore: tu sei il mio Dio;ascolta, Signore, la voce della mia supplica.
8 For Lord, O Lord, my eyes look to you. In you, I have hoped. Do not take away my soul.	8 Signore Dio, forza che mi salva,proteggi il mio capo nel giorno della lotta.
9 Protect me from the snare that they have set up for me and from the scandals of those who work iniquity.	9 Non soddisfare, Signore, i desideri dei malvagi,non favorire le loro trame.Alzano
10 The sinners will fall into his net. I am alone, until I pass over.	10 la testa quelli che mi circondano;ma la malizia delle loro labbra li sommerga!
	11 Piovano su di loro carboni ardenti;gettali nella fossa e più non si rialzino.
	12 L’uomo maldicente non duri sulla terra,il male insegua l’uomo violento fino alla rovina.
	13 So che il Signore difende la causa dei poveri,il diritto dei bisognosi.
	14 Sì, i giusti loderanno il tuo nome,gli uomini retti abiteranno alla tua presenza.
