1 Der Himmelshöhe Schönheit ist das klare Firmament, und herrlich ist die Himmelsfeste anzusehen.	1 The pride of the height, the clear firmament, the beauty of heaven, with his glorious shew;
2 Sobald die Sonne aufgeht, spendet sie die Wärme; wie staunenswert ist dieses Werk des Herrn!	2 The sun when it appeareth, declaring at his rising a marvellous instrument, the work of the most High:
3 Sie setzt, wenn sie im Mittag steht, die Welt in Glut; wer kann vor ihrer Hitze dann bestehen?	3 At noon it parcheth the country, and who can abide the burning heat thereof?
4 Ein angefachter Ofen bringt den Guß zum Glühen, doch der die Sonne schickt, versengt die Berge. Der Leuchte Flammenzungen schwelen überm Land, geblendet wird das Auge durch ihr Feuer.	4 A man blowing a furnace is in works of heat, but the sun burneth the mountains three times more; breathing out fiery vapours, and sending forth bright beams, it dimmeth the eyes.
5 Fürwahr, der Herr ist groß, ihr Schöpfer, und sein Befehl läßt seinen Helden strahlen.	5 Great is the Lord that made it; and at his commandment runneth hastily.
6 Der Mond auch leuchtet zu bestimmten Zeiten, zur Herrschaft bis zum Ende und als Zeitmerkmal für immer.	6 He made the moon also to serve in her season for a declaration of times, and a sign of the world.
7 Durch ihn weiß man die Feste und genauen Zeiten; ist er erschöpft, gefällt ihm (neuerdings) sein Kreislauf.	7 From the moon is the sign of feasts, a light that decreaseth in her perfection.
8 Von einem Monat auf den andern wird er neu; wie staunenswert ist er in seinem Wechsel! Er hält zurück das Heer der Sterne in der Höhe, bedeckt das Firmament mit seinem Glanz.	8 The month is called after her name, increasing wonderfully in her changing, being an instrument of the armies above, shining in the firmament of heaven;
9 Des Himmels Schönheit ist die Pracht der Sterne, ein Schmuck, der strahlt in Gottes Höhen.	9 The beauty of heaven, the glory of the stars, an ornament giving light in the highest places of the Lord.
10 Auf Gottes Wort hin stehen sie geordnet da, und nicht ermatten sie auf ihren Posten.	10 At the commandment of the Holy One they will stand in their order, and never faint in their watches.
11 Schau den Regenbogen an, und preise seinen Schöpfer; denn überaus geschmückt mit Herrlichkeit ist er!	11 Look upon the rainbow, and praise him that made it; very beautiful it is in the brightness thereof.
12 Den Himmelskreis umgibt er rings mit seiner Pracht, und Gottes Hand hat n der Höh' ihn ausgespannt.	12 It compasseth the heaven about with a glorious circle, and the hands of the most High have bended it.
13 Den Blitz schreibt seine Allmacht hin und läßt die Pfeile des Gerichtes leuchten.	13 By his commandment he maketh the snow to fall aplace, and sendeth swiftly the lightnings of his judgment.
14 Um seinetwillen schuf er einen Speicher und fliegen Wolken wie die Vögel aus.	14 Through this the treasures are opened: and clouds fly forth as fowls.
15 In seiner Größe macht er dicht die Wolken und werden Hagelsteine zermalmt. 17a Das Brüllen seines Donners läßt die Erde beben,	15 By his great power he maketh the clouds firm, and the hailstones are broken small.
16 und Berge wanken selbst durch seine Kraft. Sein Schrecken jagt den Südwind jäh voran, 17b den starken Nord, den Sturmwind und Orkan.	16 At his sight the mountains are shaken, and at his will the south wind bloweth.
17 Noe, der Gerechte, ward fehlerfrei befunden, zu der Vernichtung Zeit war er der Überlebende. Um seinetwillen blieb ein Rest erhalten, und in einem Bund mit ihm endete die Sintflut.	17 The noise of the thunder maketh the earth to tremble: so doth the northern storm and the whirlwind: as birds flying he scattereth the snow, and the falling down thereof is as the lighting of grasshoppers:
18 Die Augen blendet seine weiße Pracht, das Herz erzittert, wenn er niederrieselt.	18 The eye marvelleth at the beauty of the whiteness thereof, and the heart is astonished at the raining of it.
19 Und auch den Reif gießt er wie Salz herab, wie Saphir läßt er Eiskristalle glänzen.	19 The hoarfrost also as salt he poureth on the earth, and being congealed, it lieth on the top of sharp stakes.
20 Er läßt den kalten Nordwind wehen, und es gefriert zu Eis die Quelle. Mit einer Decke überzieht er jedes Wasser und hüllt den Teich ein wie in einen Panzer.	20 When the cold north wind bloweth, and the water is congealed into ice, it abideth upon every gathering together of water, and clotheth the water as with a breastplate.
21 Was auf den Bergen wächst, versengt er wie die Dürre, die grüne Wiese wie mit Feuerflammen.	21 It devoureth the mountains, and burneth the wilderness, and consumeth the grass as fire.
22 Für alles bringt der Wolken Träufeln Linderung, der Tau, der sich ergießt und dürres Land erquickt.	22 A present remedy of all is a mist coming speedily, a dew coming after heat refresheth.
23 Nach seinem Plan ließ er den Ozean sich senken und breitete im Meer die Inseln aus.	23 By his counsel he appeaseth the deep, and planteth islands therein.
24 Die Meerumsegler schildern seinen Umfang; wir sind entsetzt, was unser Ohr vernimmt.	24 They that sail on the sea tell of the danger thereof; and when we hear it with our ears, we marvel thereat.
25 Dort gibt es Wunderdinge, seiner Werke staunenswerteste, die Tiere aller Art, des Weltmeers Ungeheuer.	25 For therein be strange and wondrous works, variety of all kinds of beasts and whales created.
26 Um seinetwillen hat Erfolg sein Bote, und durch sein Wort vollzieht er seinen Willen.	26 By him the end of them hath prosperous success, and by his word all things consist.
27 Nochmal so viel wie dies - wir wären nicht am Ende; so sei der Schluß der Rede: Er ist alles!	27 We may speak much, and yet come short: wherefore in sum, he is all.
28 Wir können nur noch preisen, aber nicht ergründen, und größer ist er noch als alle seine Werke.	28 How shall we be able to magnify him? for he is great above all his works.
29 Ehrwürdig ist der Herr gar sehr, gar sehr, und wunderbar sind seine Machterweise.	29 The Lord is terrible and very great, and marvellous is his power.
30 Die ihr den Herrn lobpreist, erhebt die Stimme, so laut ihr könnt, denn es wird nie genügen! Wenn ihr erhebt die Stimme, schöpfet neue Kraft, ermüdet nicht, denn ihr kommt nie ans Ende!	30 When ye glorify the Lord, exalt him as much as ye can; for even yet will he far exceed: and when ye exalt him, put forth all your strength, and be not weary; for ye can never go far enough.
31 Wer sah ihn je und kann davon erzählen, und wer kann ihn so preisen, wie er ist?	31 Who hath seen him, that he might tell us? and who can magnify him as he is?
32 Die Menge des Verhüllten übertrifft all dieses, nur wenig habe ich gesehn von seinen Werken.	32 There are yet hid greater things than these be, for we have seen but a few of his works.
	33 For the Lord hath made all things; and to the godly hath he given wisdom.
