1 Schäm dich, ein Wort, das du vernommen, weiterzuerzählen und irgendeine heimliche Beratung zu enthüllen! Dann bist du schamhaft in der Tat und findest Gunst bei allen Menschen.	1 Of these things be not thou ashamed, and accept no person to sin thereby:
2 Es fehlt ihm keine Kenntnis, und nichts kann ihm entgehen.	2 Of the law of the most High, and his covenant; and of judgment to justify the ungodly;
3 der Abrechnung mit Freund und zugereistem Gast und der Verteilung von Besitz und Erbe,	3 Of reckoning with thy partners and travellers; or of the gift of the heritage of friends;
4 des Staubabwischens an der Hand- und Hebelwaage, der Reinigung der Maße und Gewichte! Nicht schäme dich, bald viel, bald wenig einzukaufen	4 Of exactness of balance and weights; or of getting much or little;
5 und auf den Preis (zu schauen) für des Händlers Ware, die Kinder oftmals zu bestrafen und einen schlechten Sklaven zu verprügeln!	5 And of merchants' indifferent selling; of much correction of children; and to make the side of an evil servant to bleed.
6 Nicht schäm dich eines Siegels für die schlechte Frau und eines Schlüssels dort, wo viele Hände sind;	6 Sure keeping is good, where an evil wife is; and shut up, where many hands are.
7 wenn jemand etwas hinterlegt, es aufzuschreiben; die Rückerstattung und die Übernahme, alles mache schriftlich!	7 Deliver all things in number and weight; and put all in writing that thou givest out, or receivest in.
8 Nicht schäm dich der Zurechtweisung des Dummen und des Toren sowie des Greises, der da strauchelt und sich plagt mit Unzucht! Dann bist du wahrhaft aufmerksam und ein gewandter Mann vor allen Menschen.	8 Be not ashamed to inform the unwise and foolish, and the extreme aged that contendeth with those that are young: thus shalt thou be truly learned, and approved of all men living.
9 Die Tochter ist für ihren Vater wie ein Schatz, der schlaflos macht; die Sorge, die er mit ihr hat, verscheucht den Schlummer: in ihrer Mädchenzeit, auf daß sie nicht verblühe, und in der Ehe, daß sie nicht verstoßen werde;	9 The father waketh for the daughter, when no man knoweth; and the care for her taketh away sleep: when she is young, lest she pass away the flower of her age; and being married, lest she should be hated:
10 solang sie Jungfrau ist, daß nicht verführt sie werde; in ihres Gatten Haus, daß sie nicht Unzucht treibe; in ihres Vaters Haus, daß sie nicht schwanger werde; in ihres Mannes Haus, daß sie nicht kinderlos.	10 In her virginity, lest she should be defiled and gotten with child in her father's house; and having an husband, lest she should misbehave herself; and when she is married, lest she should be barren.
11 Die Tochter ohne Zucht bewache streng, damit sie dich den Feinden nicht zum Spott mache, zum Stadtgespräch, zum Anlaß eines Volksauflaufs, und dich beschäme bei versammeltem Gericht am Tore! Der Ort, an dem sie wohnt, soll nicht das Fenster sein, auch nicht der Ausblick auf die Wege ringsumher!	11 Keep a sure watch over a shameless daughter, lest she make thee a laughingstock to thine enemies, and a byword in the city, and a reproach among the people, and make thee ashamed before the multitude.
12 Ihre Schönheit soll sie keinem Manne zeigen und unter Frauen nicht vertrauten Umgang haben!	12 Behold not every body's beauty, and sit not in the midst of women.
13 Denn von den Kleidern kommt die Motte her und von der einen Frau die Schlechtigkeit der anderen.	13 For from garments cometh a moth, and from women wickedness.
14 Viel besser ist des Mannes Derbheit als die Freundlichkeit der Frau, und Schande bringt hervor die Tochter voll der Schande.	14 Better is the churlishness of a man than a courteous woman, a woman, I say, which bringeth shame and reproach.
15 Der Werke Gottes will ich nun gedenken und will erzählen, was ich wahrgenommen! Durch Gottes Wort entstanden seine Werke, und er vollbringt, was ihm gefällt, durch seinen Auftrag.	15 I will now remember the works of the Lord, and declare the things that I have seen: In the words of the Lord are his works.
16 Der Sonne Strahl ergießt sich über alles und Gottes Herrlichkeit auf alle seine Werke.	16 The sun that giveth light looketh upon all things, and the work thereof is full of the glory of the Lord.
17 Selbst Gottes Heilige genügen nicht, um seine Wunderwerke aufzuzählen. Gott gibt selbst seinen Heeresscharen Kraft, daß sie vor seiner Herrlichkeit bestehen können.	17 The Lord hath not given power to the saints to declare all his marvellous works, which the Almighty Lord firmly settled, that whatsoever is might be established for his glory.
18 Die Meerestiefe und das Herz erforscht er, und alle ihre klugen Pläne kennt er. Denn alles Wissen ist dem Herrn zu eigen, er schaut das Kommende bis in die fernste Zeit.	18 He seeketh out the deep, and the heart, and considereth their crafty devices: for the Lord knoweth all that may be known, and he beholdeth the signs of the world.
19 Vergangenheit und Zukunft tut er kund, enthüllt die tiefen Rätsel des Verborgenen.	19 He declareth the things that are past, and for to come, and revealeth the steps of hidden things.
20 Es fehlt ihm keine Kenntnis, und nichts kann ihm entgehen.	20 No thought escapeth him, neither any word is hidden from him.
21 Die Größe seiner Weisheit hat er fest gegründet; nur er ist einzig und allein von Ewigkeit. Man braucht nichts anzufügen und nichts wegzunehmen, und er hat niemand nötig, der ihn lehrte.	21 He hath garnished the excellent works of his wisdom, and he is from everlasting to everlasting: unto him may nothing be added, neither can he be diminished, and he hath no need of any counsellor.
22 Wie wonnevoll sind alle seine Werke, wie herrlich anzuschauen sind sie alle!	22 Oh how desirable are all his works! and that a man may see even to a spark.
23 Er lebt und hat Bestand für ewig, und alles fügt sich ein, wo immer es gebraucht wird.	23 All these things live and remain for ever for all uses, and they are all obedient.
24 Sie alle sind verschieden voneinander, und keines hat er so gemacht, daß es entbehrlich wäre.	24 All things are double one against another: and he hath made nothing imperfect.
	25 One thing establisheth the good or another: and who shall be filled with beholding his glory?
