1 The Proverbs of Solomon: A wise son makes his father glad, but a foolish son is a grief to his mother.	1 Proverbios de Salomón. El hijo sabio es la alegría de su padre, el hijo necio entristece a su madre.
2 Ill-gotten treasures profit nothing, but virtue saves from death.	2 Tesoros mal adquiridos no aprovechan, mas la justicia libra de la muerte.
3 The LORD permits not the just to hunger, but the craving of the wicked he thwarts.	3 Yahveh no permite que el justo pase hambre, pero rechaza la codicia de los malos.
4 The slack hand impoverishes, but the hand of the diligent enriches.	4 Mano indolente empobrece, la mano de los diligentes enriquece.
5 A son who fills the granaries in summer is a credit; a son who slumbers during harvest, a disgrace.	5 Amontonar en verano es de hombre sensato, dormirse en la cosecha es de hombre indigno.
6 Blessings are for the head of the just, but a rod for the back of the fool.	6 Bendiciones sobre la cabeza del justo; pero la boca de los impíos rezuma violencia.
7 The memory of the just will be blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot.	7 El recuerdo del justo sirve de bendición; el nombre de los malos se pudre.
8 A wise man heeds commands, but a prating fool will be overthrown.	8 El sensato de corazón acepta los mandatos, el hombre charlatán corre a su ruina.
9 He who walks honestly walks securely, but he whose ways are crooked will fare badly.	9 Quien va a derecho, va seguro, quien va con rodeos es descubierto.
10 He who winks at a fault causes trouble, but he who frankly reproves promotes peace.	10 El que guiña de ojos, dará disgustos, quien reprende a la cara, proporciona paz.
11 A fountain of life is the mouth of the just, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.	11 Manantial de vida la boca del justo; la boca de los impíos rezuma violencia.
12 Hatred stirs up disputes, but love covers all offenses.	12 El odio provoca discusiones, el amor cubre todas las faltas.
13 On the lips of the intelligent is found wisdom, (but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence).	13 En labios del inteligente se encuentra sabiduría, palo a las espaldas del falto de seso.
14 Wise men store up knowledge, but the mouth of a fool is imminent ruin.	14 Los sabios atesoran conocimiento, la boca del necio es ruina immediata.
15 The rich man's wealth is his strong city; the ruination of the lowly is their poverty.	15 La fortuna del rico es su plaza fuerte, la ruina de los débiles es su pobreza.
16 The just man's recompense leads to life, the gains of the wicked, to sin.	16 El salario del justo es para vivir, la renta del malo es para pecar.
17 A path to life is his who heeds admonition, but he who disregards reproof goes astray.	17 Camina hacia la vida el que guarda las instrucciones; quien desatiende la reprensión se extravía.
18 It is the lips of the liar that conceal hostility; but he who spreads accusations is a fool.	18 Los labios mentirosos disimulan el odio; quien profiere una calumnia es un necio.
19 Where words are many, sin is not wanting; but he who restrains his lips does well.	19 En las muchas palabras no faltará pecado; quien reprime sus labios es sensato.
20 Like choice silver is the just man's tongue; the heart of the wicked is of little worth.	20 Plata elegida es la lengua del justo, el corazón de los malos vale poco.
21 The just man's lips nourish many, but fools die for want of sense.	21 Los labios del justo apacientan a muchos, los insensatos mueren en su falta de seso.
22 It is the LORD'S blessing that brings wealth, and no effort can substitute for it.	22 La bendición de Yahveh es la que enriquece, y nada le añade el trabajo a que obliga.
23 Crime is the entertainment of the fool; so is wisdom for the man of sense.	23 Como un juego es para el necio cometer el crimen, la sabiduría lo es para el hombre inteligente.
24 What the wicked man fears will befall him, but the desire of the just will be granted.	24 Lo que teme el malo, eso le sucede, lo que el justo desea, se le da.
25 When the tempest passes, the wicked man is no more; but the just man is established forever.	25 Cuando pasa la tormenta, ya no existe el malo, mas el justo es construcción eterna.
26 As vinegar to the teeth, and smoke to the eyes, is the sluggard to those who use him as a messenger.	26 Vinagre para los dientes y humo para los ojos: así es el perezoso para quien lo envía.
27 The fear of the LORD prolongs life, but the years of the wicked are brief.	27 El temor de Yahveh prolonga los días, los años de los malos son acortados.
28 The hope of the just brings them joy, but the expectation of the wicked comes to nought.	28 La espera de los justos es alegría, la esperanza de los malos fracasará.
29 The LORD is a stronghold to him who walks honestly, but to evildoers, their downfall.	29 Fortaleza es para el íntegro la senda de Yahveh; pero ruina para los malhechores.
30 The just man will never be disturbed, but the wicked will not abide in the land.	30 Jamás el justo será conmovido, pero los malos no habitarán la tierra.
31 The mouth of the just yields wisdom, but the perverse tongue will be cut off.	31 La boca del justo da frutos de sabiduría, la lengua perversa será cortada.
32 The lips of the just know how to please, but the mouth of the wicked, how to pervert.	32 Los labios del justo saben de benevolencia; la boca de los malos, de perversidad.
