NEW AMERICAN BIBLE | NOVA VULGATA |
---|---|
Give thanks to the LORD, invoke his name; make known among the peoples his deeds! | 1 ALLELUIA. |
Sing praise, play music; proclaim all his wondrous deeds! |
Glory in his holy name; rejoice, O hearts that seek the LORD! | 3 Laudamini in nomine sancto eius, laetetur cor quaerentium Dominum. |
Rely on the mighty LORD; constantly seek his face. |
Recall the wondrous deeds he has done, his signs and his words of judgment, | 5 Mementote mirabilium eius, quae fecit, prodigia eius et iudicia oris eius, |
You descendants of Abraham his servant, offspring of Jacob the chosen one! | 6 semen Abraham, servi eius, filii Iacob, electi eius. |
The LORD is our God who rules the whole earth. | 7 Ipse Dominus Deus noster; in universa terra iudicia eius. |
He remembers forever his covenant, the pact imposed for a thousand generations, | 8 Memor fuit in saeculum testamenti sui, verbi, quod mandavit in mille generationes, |
Which was made with Abraham, confirmed by oath to Isaac, | 9 quod disposuit cum Abraham, et iuramenti sui ad Isaac. |
And ratified as binding for Jacob, an everlasting covenant for Israel: | 10 Et statuit illud Iacob in praeceptum et Israel in testamentum aeternum |
"To you I give the land of Canaan, your own allotted heritage." | 11 dicens: “ Tibi dabo terram Chanaan funiculum hereditatis vestrae ”. |
When they were few in number, a handful, and strangers there, | 12 Cum essent numero brevi, paucissimi et peregrini in ea, |
Wandering from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another, | 13 et pertransirent de gente in gentem et de regno ad populum alterum, |
He let no one oppress them; for their sake he rebuked kings: | 14 non permisit hominem nocere eis et corripuit pro eis reges: |
" Do not touch my anointed, to my prophets do no harm." | 15 “ Nolite tangere christos meos et in prophetis meis nolite malignari ”. |
Then he called down a famine on the land, destroyed the grain that sustained them. | 16 Et vocavit famem super terram et omne baculum panis contrivit. |
He had sent a man ahead of them, Joseph, sold as a slave. | 17 Misit ante eos virum, in servum venumdatus est Ioseph. |
They shackled his feet with chains; collared his neck in iron, | 18 Strinxerunt in compedibus pedes eius, in ferrum intravit collum eius, |
Till his prediction came to pass, and the word of the LORD proved him true. | 19 donec veniret verbum eius, eloquium Domini purgaret eum. |
The king sent and released him; the ruler of peoples set him free. | 20 Misit rex et solvit eum, princeps populorum, et dimisit eum; |
He made him lord over his palace, ruler over all his possessions, | 21 constituit eum dominum domus suae et principem omnis possessionis suae, |
To instruct his princes by his word, to teach his elders wisdom. |
Then Israel entered Egypt; Jacob lived in the land of Ham. | 23 Et intravit Israel in Aegyptum, et Iacob peregrinus fuit in terra Cham. |
God greatly increased his people, made them too many for their foes. |
He turned their hearts to hate his people, to treat his servants unfairly. |
He sent his servant Moses, Aaron whom he had chosen. | 26 Misit Moysen servum suum, Aaron, quem elegit. |
They worked his signs in Egypt and wonders in the land of Ham. | 27 Posuit in eis verba signorum suorum et prodigiorum in terra Cham. |
He sent darkness and it grew dark, but they rebelled against his word. |
He turned their waters into blood and killed all their fish. | 29 Convertit aquas eorum in sanguinem et occidit pisces eorum. |
Their land swarmed with frogs, even the chambers of their kings. | 30 Edidit terra eorum ranas in penetralibus regum ipsorum. |
He spoke and there came swarms of flies, gnats through all their country. | 31 Dixit, et venit coenomyia et scinifes in omnibus finibus eorum. |
For rain he gave them hail, flashes of lightning throughout their land. | 32 Posuit pluvias eorum grandinem, ignem comburentem in terra ipsorum. |
He struck down their vines and fig trees, shattered the trees of their country. | 33 Et percussit vineas eorum et ficulneas eorum et contrivit lignum finium eorum. |
He spoke and the locusts came, grass hoppers without number.
They devoured every plant in the land; they ravaged the crops of their fields. | 35 et comedit omne fenum in terra eorum et comedit fructum terrae eorum. |
He struck down every firstborn in the land, the first fruits of all their vigor. | 36 Et percussit omne primogenitum in terra eorum, primitias omnis roboris eorum. |
He brought his people out, laden with silver and gold; no stragglers among the tribes. |
Egypt rejoiced when they left, for panic had seized them. | 38 Laetata est Aegyptus in profectione eorum, quia incubuit timor eorum super eos. |
He spread a cloud as a cover, and made a fire to light up the night. |
They asked and he brought them quail; with bread from heaven he filled them. | 40 Petierunt, et venit coturnix, et pane caeli saturavit eos. |
He split the rock and water gushed forth; it flowed through the desert like a river. | 41 Dirupit petram, et fluxerunt aquae, abierunt in sicco flumina. |
For he remembered his sacred word to Abraham his servant. | 42 Quoniam memor fuit verbi sancti sui ad Abraham puerum suum. |
He brought his people out with joy, his chosen ones with shouts of triumph. | 43 Et eduxit populum suum in exsultatione, electos suos in laetitia. |
He gave them the lands of the nations, the wealth of the peoples to own, | 44 Et dedit illis regiones gentium, et labores populorum possederunt, |
That they might keep his laws and observe his teachings. Hallelujah! ALLELUIA. |
