Job 20

1 Then Zophar the Naamathite spoke and said:	1 Rispose Sofar Naamatite, e disse:
2 and because of this I am disturbed. So now my thoughts provide me with an answer, and from my understanding a spirit gives me a reply.	2 Adunque li miei pensieri varii succedono a loro, e la mente nelle cose diverse è tolta.
3 A rebuke which puts me to shame I hear,	3 La dottrina, colla quale mi riprendi, udirò; e lo spirito della mia intelligenza mi risponderà.
4 Do you not know this from olden time, since man was placed upon the earth,	4 Questo so, dal principio che posto è l' uomo sopra la terra,
5 That the triumph of the wicked is short and the joy of the impious but for a moment?	5 che la lode delli malvagi è breve, e l' allegrezza delli ipocriti è assomigliata a uno punto.
6 Though his pride mount up to the heavens and his head reach to the clouds,	6 (E questo so dal principio della mia intelligenza :) se salirà insino al cielo la [sua] superbia, e lo capo suo toccherà li nuvoli,
7 Yet he perishes forever like the fuel of his fire, and the onlookers say, "Where is he?"	7 sarà perduto nella fine, sì come immondizia; e coloro che l' aveano veduto, diranno: dov'è?
8 Like a dream he takes flight and is not found again; he fades away like a vision of the night.	8 E, sì come sogno volante, non sarà trovato; e passerà sì come visione di notte.
9 The eye which saw him does so no more; nor shall his dwelling again behold him.	9 E l'occhio, che l' avea veduto, non lo vedrà; e non più oltre (non lo) ragguarderà lui lo suo luogo.
10 and his hands shall yield up his riches.	10 Li suoi figliuoli saranno asseccati colla povertà, e le sue mani li renderanno lo dolore suo.
11 Though his frame is full of youthful vigor, this shall lie with him in the dust.	11 L'ossa sue saranno ripiene de' vizii della sua giovenza, e con lui [nel] la polvere dormiranno.
12 Though wickedness is sweet in his mouth, and he hides it under his tongue,	12 E conciosia cosa che dolce sarà stato lo male nella bocca [sua], nasconderà quello sotto la sua lingua.
13 Though he retains it and will not let it go but keeps it still within his mouth,	13 Perdonerà a colui, e non abbandonerà lui, e asconderallo nella gola sua.
14 Yet in his stomach the food shall turn; it shall be venom of asps inside him.	14 Lo pane nel ventre suo tornerà in fiele delli aspidi dentro.
15 The riches he swallowed he shall disgorge; God shall compel his belly to disown them.	15 Le ricchezze, le quali devoroe, rimanderae fuori; del ventre suo ne le caverà Iddio.
16 The poison of asps he shall drink in; the viper's fangs shall slay him.	16 Lo capo delli aspidi suggerae, e ucciderae lui la lingua della vipera.
17 He shall see no streams of oil, no torrents of honey or milk.	17 Non vedrà li rivoli del fiume, menante miele e butirro.
18 Restoring his gains, he shall not enjoy them; though his wealth increases, he shall not rejoice.	18 E piagnerae ogni cosa che fece; impertanto non si consumerae, e così sofferrà secondo la moltitudine delle sue cose ritrovate.
19 Because he has oppressed the poor, and stolen a patrimony he had not built up,	19 Perciò che costrignente spoglioe la casa del povero; rapilla e non la edificoe.
20 Though he has known no quiet in his greed, his treasures shall not save him.	20 E non è saziato lo suo ventre; e quando avrà quello ch' avrà desiderato, nol potrae possedere.
21 Therefore his prosperity shall not endure,	21 Non rimanerae del suo cibo; e perciò neuna cosa rimarrà de' suoi beni.
22 When he abounds to overflowing, he shall be brought into straits, and nought shall be left of his goods.	22 Quando sarà saziato, s'astrignerà e riscalderassi; ogni dolore rimarrà in lui e rovinerae.
23 God shall send against him the fury of his wrath and rain down his missiles of war upon him.	23 E Iddio il volesse, che sia empiuto lo ventre suo, acciò che mandi in lui l'ira del suo furore, e piova sopra lui la sua battaglia.
24 Should he escape the iron weapon, the bow of bronze shall pierce him through;	24 L'arme del ferro fuggirà, e caderae nell'arco del metallo.
25 The dart shall come out of his back; terrors shall fall upon him.	25 Menato e tratto della sua guaina, e mandando lampi nella sua amaritudine; andranno e verranno sopra lui le orribili cose.
26 Complete darkness is in store for him; the fire which shall consume him needs not to be fanned.	26 Tutte le tenebre sono nascose negli occhii suoi, e devorerae lui il fuoco il quale non si spegnerae; sarae tormentato, abbandonato nel suo tabernacolo.
27 The heavens shall reveal his guilt, and the earth shall rise up against him.	27 Riveleranno i cieli la sua iniquitade, e la terra si rizzerae contra lui.
28 The flood shall sweep away his house with the waters that run off in the day of God's anger.	28 Aperto sarà lo germoglio della sua casa, e sarà detratto nel dì del furore di Dio.
29 This is the portion of a wicked man, and the heritage appointed him by God.	29 Questa è la parte dell' uomo malvagio da Dio, e la eredità delle sue parole (veramente verranno).
