Proverbs 9

1 Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:	1 La Sabiduría ha edificado una casa, ha labrado sus siete columnas,
2 She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table.	2 ha hecho su matanza, ha mezclado su vino, ha aderezado también su mesa.
3 She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city,	3 Ha mandado a sus criadas y anuncia en lo alto de las colinas de la ciudad:
4 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,	4 «Si alguno es simple, véngase acá». Y al falto de juicio le dice:
5 Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.	5 «Venid y comed de mi pan, bebed del vino que he mezclado;
6 Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.	6 dejaos de simplezas y viviréis, y dirigíos por los caminos de la inteligencia».
7 He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot.	7 El que corrige al arrogante se acarrea desprecio, y el que reprende al malvado, insultos.
8 Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.	8 No reprendas al arrogante, porque te aborrecerá; reprende al sabio, y te amará.
9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.	9 Da al sabio, y se hará más sabio todavía; enseña al justo, y crecerá su doctrina.
10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.	10 Comienzo de la sabiduría es el temor de Yahveh, y la ciencia de los santos es inteligencia.
11 For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.	11 Pues por mí se multiplicarán tus días y se aumentarán los años de tu vida.
12 If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.	12 Si te haces sabio, te haces sabio para tu provecho, y si arrogante, tú solo lo tendrás que pagar.
13 A foolish woman is clamourous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing.	13 La mujer necia es alborotada, todo simpleza, no sabe nada.
14 For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,	14 Se sienta a la puerta de su casa, sobre un trono, en las colinas de la ciudad,
15 To call passengers who go right on their ways:	15 para llamar a los que pasan por el camino, a los que van derechos por sus sendas:
16 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,	16 «Si alguno es simple, véngase acá» y al falto de juicio le dice:
17 Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.	17 «Son dulces las aguas robadas y el pan a escondidas es sabroso».
18 But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.	18 No sabe el hombre que allí moran las Sombras; sus invitados van a los valles del seol.
