Livre des Proverbes 2

JERUSALEM	KING JAMES BIBLE
1 Mon fils, si tu accueilles mes paroles, si tu conserves à part toi mes préceptes,	1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
2 rendant tes oreilles attentives à la sagesse, inclinant ton coeur vers l'intelligence,	2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
3 oui, si tu fais appel à l'entendement, si tu réclames l'intelligence,	3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
4 si tu la recherches comme l'argent, si tu la creuses comme un chercheur de trésor,	4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
5 alors tu comprendras la crainte de Yahvé, tu trouveras la connaissance de Dieu.	5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
6 Car c'est Yahvé qui donne la sagesse, de sa bouche sortent le savoir et l'intelligence.	6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
7 Il réserve aux hommes droits son conseil, il est le bouclier de ceux qui pratiquent l'honnêteté;	7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
8 il monte la garde aux chemins de l'équité, il veille sur la voie de ses fidèles.	8 He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.
9 Alors tu comprendras justice, équité et droiture, toutes les pistes du bonheur.	9 Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.
10 Quand la sagesse entrera dans ton coeur, que le savoir fera les délices de ton âme,	10 When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;
11 la prudence veillera sur toi, l'intelligence te gardera	11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:
12 pour t'éloigner de la voie mauvaise, de l'homme aux propos pervers,	12 To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;
13 de ceux qui délaissent les droits sentiers et vont courir par des voies ténébreuses;	13 Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;
14 ils trouvent leur joie à faire le mal, ils se complaisent dans la perversité;	14 Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;
15 leurs sentiers sont tortueux, leurs pistes sont obliques.	15 Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:
16 Pour te garder aussi de la femme étrangère, de l'inconnue aux paroles enjôleuses;	16 To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;
17 elle a abandonné l'ami de sa jeunesse, elle a oublié l'alliance de son Dieu;	17 Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.
18 sa maison penche vers la mort, ses pistes conduisent vers les ombres.	18 For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.
19 De ceux qui vont à elle, pas un ne revient, ils ne rejoignent plus les sentiers de la vie.	19 None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.
20 Ainsi chemineras-tu dans la voie des gens de bien, garderas-tu le sentier des justes.	20 That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.
21 Car les hommes droits habiteront le pays, les gens honnêtes y demeureront,	21 For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.
22 mais les méchants seront retranchés du pays, les traîtres en seront arrachés.	22 But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.
