EINHEITSUBERSETZUNG BIBEL	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Wenn es also Ermahnung in Christus gibt, Zuspruch aus Liebe, eine Gemeinschaft des Geistes, herzliche Zuneigung und Erbarmen,	1 So if in Christ there is anything that will move you, any incentive in love, any fel owship in the Spirit, anywarmth or sympathy -- I appeal to you,
2 dann macht meine Freude dadurch vollkommen, dass ihr eines Sinnes seid, einander in Liebe verbunden, einmütig und einträchtig,	2 make my joy complete by being of a single mind, one in love, one in heart and one in mind.
3 dass ihr nichts aus Ehrgeiz und nichts aus Prahlerei tut. Sondern in Demut schätze einer den andern höher ein als sich selbst.	3 Nothing is to be done out of jealousy or vanity; instead, out of humility of mind everyone should givepreference to others,
4 Jeder achte nicht nur auf das eigene Wohl, sondern auch auf das der anderen.	4 everyone pursuing not selfish interests but those of others.
5 Seid untereinander so gesinnt, wie es dem Leben in Christus Jesus entspricht:	5 Make your own the mind of Christ Jesus:
6 Er war Gott gleich, hielt aber nicht daran fest, wie Gott zu sein,	6 Who, being in the form of God, did not count equality with God something to be grasped.
7 sondern er entäußerte sich und wurde wie ein Sklave und den Menschen gleich. Sein Leben war das eines Menschen;	7 But he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, becoming as human beings are; and being in everyway like a human being,
8 er erniedrigte sich und war gehorsam bis zum Tod, bis zum Tod am Kreuz.	8 he was humbler yet, even to accepting death, death on a cross.
9 Darum hat ihn Gott über alle erhöht und ihm den Namen verliehen, der größer ist als alle Namen,	9 And for this God raised him high, and gave him the name which is above al other names;
10 damit alle im Himmel, auf der Erde und unter der Erde ihre Knie beugen vor dem Namen Jesu	10 so that al beings in the heavens, on earth and in the underworld, should bend the knee at the name ofJesus
11 und jeder Mund bekennt: «Jesus Christus ist der Herr» - zur Ehre Gottes, des Vaters.	11 and that every tongue should acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
12 Darum, liebe Brüder - ihr wart ja immer gehorsam, nicht nur in meiner Gegenwart, sondern noch viel mehr jetzt in meiner Abwesenheit -: müht euch mit Furcht und Zittern um euer Heil!	12 So, my dear friends, you have always been obedient; your obedience must not be limited to timeswhen I am present. Now that I am absent it must be more in evidence, so work out your salvation in fear andtrembling.
13 Denn Gott ist es, der in euch das Wollen und das Vollbringen bewirkt, noch über euren guten Willen hinaus.	13 It is God who, for his own generous purpose, gives you the intention and the powers to act.
14 Tut alles ohne Murren und Bedenken,	14 Let your behaviour be free of murmuring and complaining
15 damit ihr rein und ohne Tadel seid, Kinder Gottes ohne Makel mitten in einer verdorbenen und verwirrten Generation, unter der ihr als Lichter in der Welt leuchtet.	15 so that you remain faultless and pure, unspoilt children of God surrounded by a deceitful andunderhand brood, shining out among them like bright stars in the world,
16 Haltet fest am Wort des Lebens, mir zum Ruhm für den Tag Christi, damit ich nicht vergeblich gelaufen bin oder mich umsonst abgemüht habe.	16 proffering to it the Word of life. Then I shall have reason to be proud on the Day of Christ, for it wil notbe for nothing that I have run the race and toiled so hard.
17 Wenn auch mein Leben dargebracht wird zusammen mit dem Opfer und Gottesdienst eures Glaubens, freue ich mich dennoch und ich freue mich mit euch allen.	17 Indeed, even if my blood has to be poured as a libation over your sacrifice and the offering of yourfaith, then I shal be glad and join in your rejoicing-
18 Ebenso sollt auch ihr euch freuen; freut euch mit mir!	18 and in the same way, you must be glad and join in my rejoicing.
19 Ich hoffe aber im Vertrauen auf Jesus, den Herrn, dass ich Timotheus bald zu euch schicken kann, damit auch ich ermutigt werde, wenn ich erfahre, wie es um euch steht.	19 I hope, in the Lord Jesus, to send Timothy to you soon, so that my mind may be set at rest when I hearhow you are.
20 Ich habe keinen Gleichgesinnten, der so aufrichtig um eure Sache besorgt ist;	20 There is nobody else that I can send who is like him and cares as sincerely for your well-being;
21 denn alle suchen ihren Vorteil, nicht die Sache Jesu Christi.	21 they al want to work for themselves, not for Jesus Christ.
22 Ihr wisst ja, wie er sich bewährt hat: Wie ein Kind dem Vater - so hat er mit mir zusammen dem Evangelium gedient.	22 But you know what sort of person he has proved himself, working with me for the sake of the gospellike a son with his father.
23 Ihn also hoffe ich schicken zu können, sobald ich meine Lage übersehe.	23 That is the man, then, that I am hoping to send to you immediately I can make out what is going tohappen to me;
24 Doch ich habe die Zuversicht im Herrn, dass auch ich bald kommen kann.	24 but I am confident in the Lord that I shal come myself, too, before long.
25 Ich hielt es aber für notwendig, Epaphroditus, meinen Bruder, Mitarbeiter und Mitstreiter, euren Abgesandten und Helfer in meiner Not, zu euch zu schicken.	25 Nevertheless I thought it essential to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother and fel ow-worker andcompanion-in-arms since he came as your representative to look after my needs;
26 Er sehnte sich danach, euch alle wieder zu sehen, und war beunruhigt, weil ihr gehört hattet, dass er krank geworden war.	26 because he was missing you al and was worrying because you had heard that he was il .
27 Er war tatsächlich so krank, dass er dem Tod nahe war. Aber Gott hatte Erbarmen mit ihm, und nicht nur mit ihm, sondern auch mit mir, damit ich nicht vom Kummer überwältigt würde.	27 Indeed he was seriously il and nearly died; but God took pity on him -- and not only on him but also onme, to spare me one grief on top of another.
28 Umso mehr beeile ich mich, ihn zu schicken, damit ihr euch wieder freut, wenn ihr ihn seht, und auch ich weniger Kummer habe.	28 So I am sending him back as promptly as I can so that you wil have the joy of seeing him again, andthat wil be some comfort to me in my distress.
29 Nehmt ihn also im Herrn mit aller Freude auf und haltet Menschen wie ihn in Ehren,	29 Welcome him in the Lord, then, with al joy; hold people like him in honour,
30 denn wegen seiner Arbeit für Christus kam er dem Tod nahe. Er hat sein Leben aufs Spiel gesetzt, um zu vollenden, was an eurem Dienst für mich noch gefehlt hat.	30 because it was for Christ's work that he came so near to dying, risking his life to do the duty to mewhich you could not do yourselves.
