Johannes 1

EINHEITSUBERSETZUNG BIBEL	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Im Anfang war das Wort, und das Wort war bei Gott, und das Wort war Gott.	1 In the beginning was the Word: the Word was with God and the Word was God.
2 Im Anfang war es bei Gott.	2 He was with God in the beginning.
3 Alles ist durch das Wort geworden und ohne das Wort wurde nichts, was geworden ist.	3 Through him al things came into being, not one thing came into being except through him.
4 In ihm war das Leben und das Leben war das Licht der Menschen.	4 What has come into being in him was life, life that was the light of men;
5 Und das Licht leuchtet in der Finsternis und die Finsternis hat es nicht erfasst.	5 and light shines in darkness, and darkness could not overpower it.
6 Es trat ein Mensch auf, der von Gott gesandt war; sein Name war Johannes.	6 A man came, sent by God. His name was John.
7 Er kam als Zeuge, um Zeugnis abzulegen für das Licht, damit alle durch ihn zum Glauben kommen.	7 He came as a witness, to bear witness to the light, so that everyone might believe through him.
8 Er war nicht selbst das Licht, er sollte nur Zeugnis ablegen für das Licht.	8 He was not the light, he was to bear witness to the light.
9 Das wahre Licht, das jeden Menschen erleuchtet, kam in die Welt.	9 The Word was the real light that gives light to everyone; he was coming into the world.
10 Er war in der Welt und die Welt ist durch ihn geworden, aber die Welt erkannte ihn nicht.	10 He was in the world that had come into being through him, and the world did not recognise him.
11 Er kam in sein Eigentum, aber die Seinen nahmen ihn nicht auf.	11 He came to his own and his own people did not accept him.
12 Allen aber, die ihn aufnahmen, gab er Macht, Kinder Gottes zu werden, allen, die an seinen Namen glauben,	12 But to those who did accept him he gave power to become children of God, to those who believed inhis name
13 die nicht aus dem Blut, nicht aus dem Willen des Fleisches, nicht aus dem Willen des Mannes, sondern aus Gott geboren sind.	13 who were born not from human stock or human desire or human will but from God himself.
14 Und das Wort ist Fleisch geworden und hat unter uns gewohnt und wir haben seine Herrlichkeit gesehen, die Herrlichkeit des einzigen Sohnes vom Vater, voll Gnade und Wahrheit.	14 The Word became flesh, he lived among us, and we saw his glory, the glory that he has from theFather as only Son of the Father, ful of grace and truth.
15 Johannes legte Zeugnis für ihn ab und rief: Dieser war es, über den ich gesagt habe: Er, der nach mir kommt, ist mir voraus, weil er vor mir war.	15 John witnesses to him. He proclaims: 'This is the one of whom I said: He who comes after me haspassed ahead of me because he existed before me.'
16 Aus seiner Fülle haben wir alle empfangen, Gnade über Gnade.	16 Indeed, from his ful ness we have, al of us, received -- one gift replacing another,
17 Denn das Gesetz wurde durch Mose gegeben, die Gnade und die Wahrheit kamen durch Jesus Christus.	17 for the Law was given through Moses, grace and truth have come through Jesus Christ.
18 Niemand hat Gott je gesehen. Der Einzige, der Gott ist und am Herzen des Vaters ruht, er hat Kunde gebracht.	18 No one has ever seen God; it is the only Son, who is close to the Father's heart, who has made himknown.
19 Dies ist das Zeugnis des Johannes: Als die Juden von Jerusalem aus Priester und Leviten zu ihm sandten mit der Frage: Wer bist du?,	19 This was the witness of John, when the Jews sent to him priests and Levites from Jerusalem to askhim, 'Who are you?'
20 bekannte er und leugnete nicht; er bekannte: Ich bin nicht der Messias.	20 He declared, he did not deny but declared, 'I am not the Christ.'
21 Sie fragten ihn: Was bist du dann? Bist du Elija? Und er sagte: Ich bin es nicht. Bist du der Prophet? Er antwortete: Nein.	21 So they asked, 'Then are you Elijah?' He replied, 'I am not.' 'Are you the Prophet?' He answered, 'No.'
22 Da fragten sie ihn: Wer bist du? Wir müssen denen, die uns gesandt haben, Auskunft geben. Was sagst du über dich selbst?	22 So they said to him, 'Who are you? We must take back an answer to those who sent us. What haveyou to say about yourself?'

25 Sie fragten Johannes: Warum taufst du dann, wenn du nicht der Messias bist, nicht Elija und nicht der Prophet?	25 and they put this question to him, 'Why are you baptising if you are not the Christ, and not Elijah, andnot the Prophet?'
26 Er antwortete ihnen: Ich taufe mit Wasser. Mitten unter euch steht der, den ihr nicht kennt	26 John answered them, 'I baptise with water; but standing among you -- unknown to you-
27 und der nach mir kommt; ich bin es nicht wert, ihm die Schuhe aufzuschnüren.	27 is the one who is coming after me; and I am not fit to undo the strap of his sandal.'
28 Dies geschah in Betanien, auf der anderen Seite des Jordan, wo Johannes taufte.	28 This happened at Bethany, on the far side of the Jordan, where John was baptising.
29 Am Tag darauf sah er Jesus auf sich zukommen und sagte: Seht, das Lamm Gottes, das die Sünde der Welt hinwegnimmt.	29 The next day, he saw Jesus coming towards him and said, 'Look, there is the lamb of God that takesaway the sin of the world.
30 Er ist es, von dem ich gesagt habe: Nach mir kommt ein Mann, der mir voraus ist, weil er vor mir war.	30 It was of him that I said, "Behind me comes one who has passed ahead of me because he existedbefore me."
31 Auch ich kannte ihn nicht; aber ich bin gekommen und taufe mit Wasser, um Israel mit ihm bekanntzumachen.	31 I did not know him myself, and yet my purpose in coming to baptise with water was so that he might berevealed to Israel.'
32 Und Johannes bezeugte: Ich sah, dass der Geist vom Himmel herabkam wie eine Taube und auf ihm blieb.	32 And John declared, 'I saw the Spirit come down on him like a dove from heaven and rest on him.
33 Auch ich kannte ihn nicht; aber er, der mich gesandt hat, mit Wasser zu taufen, er hat mir gesagt: Auf wen du den Geist herabkommen siehst und auf wem er bleibt, der ist es, der mit dem Heiligen Geist tauft.	33 I did not know him myself, but he who sent me to baptise with water had said to me, "The man onwhom you see the Spirit come down and rest is the one who is to baptise with the Holy Spirit."
34 Das habe ich gesehen und ich bezeuge: Er ist der Sohn Gottes.	34 I have seen and I testify that he is the Chosen One of God.'
35 Am Tag darauf stand Johannes wieder dort und zwei seiner Jünger standen bei ihm.	35 The next day as John stood there again with two of his disciples, Jesus went past,
36 Als Jesus vorüberging, richtete Johannes seinen Blick auf ihn und sagte: Seht, das Lamm Gottes!	36 and John looked towards him and said, 'Look, there is the lamb of God.'
37 Die beiden Jünger hörten, was er sagte, und folgten Jesus.	37 And the two disciples heard what he said and followed Jesus.
38 Jesus aber wandte sich um, und als er sah, dass sie ihm folgten, fragte er sie: Was wollt ihr? Sie sagten zu ihm: Rabbi - das heißt übersetzt: Meister , wo wohnst du?	38 Jesus turned round, saw them following and said, 'What do you want?' They answered, 'Rabbi' --which means Teacher-'where do you live?'
39 Er antwortete: Kommt und seht! Da gingen sie mit und sahen, wo er wohnte, und blieben jenen Tag bei ihm; es war um die zehnte Stunde.	39 He replied, 'Come and see'; so they went and saw where he lived, and stayed with him that day. It wasabout the tenth hour.
40 Andreas, der Bruder des Simon Petrus, war einer der beiden, die das Wort des Johannes gehört hatten und Jesus gefolgt waren.	40 One of these two who became followers of Jesus after hearing what John had said was Andrew, thebrother of Simon Peter.
41 Dieser traf zuerst seinen Bruder Simon und sagte zu ihm: Wir haben den Messias gefunden. Messias heißt übersetzt: der Gesalbte (Christus).	41 The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother and say to him, 'We have found the Messiah' -- whichmeans the Christ-
42 Er führte ihn zu Jesus. Jesus blickte ihn an und sagte: Du bist Simon, der Sohn des Johannes, du sollst Kephas heißen. Kephas bedeutet: Fels (Petrus).	42 and he took Simon to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, 'You are Simon son of John; you are to becal ed Cephas' -- which means Rock.
43 Am Tag darauf wollte Jesus nach Galiläa aufbrechen; da traf er Philippus. Und Jesus sagte zu ihm: Folge mir nach!	43 The next day, after Jesus had decided to leave for Galilee, he met Philip and said, 'Follow me.'
44 Philippus war aus Betsaida, dem Heimatort des Andreas und Petrus.	44 Philip came from the same town, Bethsaida, as Andrew and Peter.
45 Philippus traf Natanaël und sagte zu ihm: Wir haben den gefunden, über den Mose im Gesetz und auch die Propheten geschrieben haben: Jesus aus Nazaret, den Sohn Josefs.	45 Philip found Nathanael and said to him, 'We have found him of whom Moses in the Law and theprophets wrote, Jesus son of Joseph, from Nazareth.'
46 Da sagte Natanaël zu ihm: Aus Nazaret? Kann von dort etwas Gutes kommen? Philippus antwortete: Komm und sieh!	46 Nathanael said to him, 'From Nazareth? Can anything good come from that place?' Philip replied,'Come and see.'
47 Jesus sah Natanaël auf sich zukommen und sagte über ihn: Da kommt ein echter Israelit, ein Mann ohne Falschheit.	47 When Jesus saw Nathanael coming he said of him, 'There, truly, is an Israelite in whom there is nodeception.'
48 Natanaël fragte ihn: Woher kennst du mich? Jesus antwortete ihm: Schon bevor dich Philippus rief, habe ich dich unter dem Feigenbaum gesehen.	48 Nathanael asked, 'How do you know me?' Jesus replied, 'Before Philip came to call you, I saw youunder the fig tree.'
49 Natanaël antwortete ihm: Rabbi, du bist der Sohn Gottes, du bist der König von Israel!	49 Nathanael answered, 'Rabbi, you are the Son of God, you are the king of Israel.'
50 Jesus antwortete ihm: Du glaubst, weil ich dir sagte, dass ich dich unter dem Feigenbaum sah? Du wirst noch Größeres sehen.	50 Jesus replied, 'You believe that just because I said: I saw you under the fig tree. You are going to seegreater things than that.'
51 Und er sprach zu ihm: Amen, amen, ich sage euch: Ihr werdet den Himmel geöffnet und die Engel Gottes auf- und niedersteigen sehen über dem Menschensohn.	51 And then he added, 'In al truth I tel you, you will see heaven open and the angels of God ascendingand descending over the Son of man.'
