1 Mose und die Ältesten Israels befahlen dem Volk: Achtet auf das ganze Gebot, auf das ich euch heute verpflichte.	1 Then Moses and the elders of Israel instructed the people, saying: “Keep each commandment that I instruct to you this day.
2 An dem Tag, wenn ihr über den Jordan zieht in das Land, das der Herr, dein Gott, dir gibt, sollst du große Steine aufrichten, sie mit Kalk bestreichen	2 And when you have crossed over the Jordan, into the land which the Lord your God will give to you, you shall erect immense stones, and you shall coat them with plaster,
3 und alle Worte dieser Weisung darauf schreiben, wenn du hinüberziehst, um in das Land, das der Herr, dein Gott, dir gibt, das Land, wo Milch und Honig fließen, hineinzuziehen, wie der Herr, der Gott deiner Väter, es dir zugesagt hat.	3 so that you may be able to write upon them all the words of this law, when you have crossed the Jordan so as to enter into the land which the Lord your God will give to you, a land flowing with milk and honey, just as he swore to your fathers.
4 Wenn ihr über den Jordan zieht, sollt ihr diese Steine, die zu errichten ich euch heute befehle, auf dem Berg Garizim aufrichten. Mit Kalk sollst du sie bestreichen.	4 Therefore, when you have crossed over the Jordan, erect the stones, just as I instruct you to do this day, on Mount Ebal. And you shall coat them with plaster,
5 Dort sollst du dem Herrn, deinem Gott, einen Altar bauen, einen Altar aus Steinen. Du darfst nicht mit Eisenwerkzeug daran arbeiten.	5 and you shall build, in that place, an altar to the Lord your God out of stones which have not been touched by iron,
6 Aus unbehauenen Steinen sollst du den Altar des Herrn, deines Gottes, bauen und auf ihm sollst du Brandopfertiere für den Herrn, deinen Gott, verbrennen.	6 out of stones which have not been hewn or polished. And you shall offer holocausts on it to the Lord your God.
7 Dort sollst du Heilsopfertiere schlachten und verzehren und vor dem Herrn, deinem Gott, fröhlich sein.	7 And you shall immolate peace victims. And you shall eat and feast in that place, in the sight of the Lord your God.
8 Und auf die Steine sollst du in schöner Schrift alle Worte dieser Weisung schreiben.	8 And you shall write upon the stones all the words of this law, plainly and clearly.”
9 Mose und die levitischen Priester sagten zu ganz Israel: Sei still und höre, Israel: Heute, an diesem Tag, bist du das Volk des Herrn, deines Gottes, geworden.	9 And Moses and the priests of Levitical stock said to all of Israel: “Attend and listen, O Israel! Today you have become the people of the Lord your God.
10 Du sollst auf die Stimme des Herrn, deines Gottes, hören und seine Gebote und Gesetze halten, auf die ich dich heute verpflichte.	10 You shall listen to his voice, and you shall do the commandments and justices, which I am entrusting to you.”
11 Am gleichen Tag befahl Mose dem Volk:	11 And Moses instructed the people in that day, saying:
12 Folgende Stämme sollen sich auf dem Berg Garizim aufstellen, um das Volk zu segnen, wenn ihr den Jordan überschritten habt: Simeon, Levi, Juda, Issachar, Josef und Benjamin.	12 “These shall stand upon Mount Gerizim, as a blessing to the people, when you will have crossed the Jordan: Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin.
13 Folgende Stämme sollen sich am Berg Ebal aufstellen, um den Fluch zu sprechen: Ruben, Gad, Ascher, Sebulon, Dan und Naftali.	13 And in the opposite region, there shall stand upon Mount Ebal, as a curse: Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.
14 Die Leviten sollen über alle Männer Israels mit lauter Stimme ausrufen:	14 And the Levites shall pronounce and declare to all the men of Israel, with an exalted voice:
15 Verflucht ist der Mann, der ein Gottesbildnis, das dem Herrn ein Gräuel ist, ein Künstlermachwerk, schnitzt oder gießt und es heimlich aufstellt. Und das ganze Volk soll ausrufen: Amen.	15 Cursed be the man who makes a graven or molten idol, an abomination to the Lord, a work of the hands of its maker, and who puts it in a secret place. And all the people shall respond by saying: Amen.
16 Verflucht, wer Vater oder Mutter schmäht. Und das ganze Volk soll rufen: Amen.	16 Cursed be he who does not honor his father and mother. And all the people shall say: Amen.
17 Verflucht, wer den Grenzstein seines Nachbarn verrückt. Und das ganze Volk soll rufen: Amen.	17 Cursed be he who removes his neighbor’s landmarks. And all the people shall say: Amen.
18 Verflucht, wer einem Blinden den falschen Weg weist. Und das ganze Volk soll rufen: Amen.	18 Cursed be he who causes the blind to go astray on a journey. And all the people shall say: Amen.
19 Verflucht, wer das Recht der Fremden, die Waisen sind, und das der Witwen beugt. Und das ganze Volk soll rufen: Amen.	19 Cursed be he who subverts the judgment of the new arrival, the orphan, or the widow. And all the people shall say: Amen.
20 Verflucht, wer sich mit der Frau seines Vaters hinlegt, denn er deckt das Bett seines Vaters auf. Und das ganze Volk soll rufen: Amen.	20 Cursed be he who lies with his father’s wife, and so exposes the covering of his bed. And all the people shall say: Amen.
21 Verflucht, wer sich mit irgendeinem Tier hinlegt. Und das ganze Volk soll rufen: Amen.	21 Cursed be he who lies with any beast. And all the people shall say: Amen.
22 Verflucht, wer sich mit seiner Schwester hinlegt, mit der Tochter seines Vaters oder mit der Tochter seiner Mutter. Und das ganze Volk soll rufen: Amen.	22 Cursed be he who lies with his sister, the daughter of his father, or of his mother. And all the people shall say: Amen.
23 Verflucht, wer sich mit seiner Schwiegermutter hinlegt. Und das ganze Volk soll rufen: Amen.	23 Cursed be he who lies with his mother-in-law. And all the people shall say: Amen.
24 Verflucht, wer einen andern heimlich erschlägt. Und das ganze Volk soll rufen: Amen.	24 Cursed be he who secretly strikes down his neighbor. And all the people shall say: Amen.
25 Verflucht, wer sich bestechen lässt, einen unschuldigen Menschen zu töten. Und das ganze Volk soll rufen: Amen.	25 Cursed be he who accepts gifts in order to strike down the life of innocent blood. And all the people shall say: Amen.
26 Verflucht, wer nicht die Worte dieser Weisung stützt, indem er sie hält. Und das ganze Volk soll rufen: Amen.	26 Cursed be he who does not remain in the words of this law, and does not carry them out in deed. And all the people shall say: Amen.”
