DIODATI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 CELEBRATE il Signore; predicate il suo Nome; Fate assapere i suoi fatti fra i popoli.	1 Al eluia! Give thanks to Yahweh, cal on his name, proclaim his deeds to the peoples!
2 Cantategli, salmeggiategli, Ragionate di tutte le sue maraviglie.	2 Sing to him, make music for him, recount all his wonders!
3 Gloriatevi nel Nome della sua santità; Rallegrisi il cuor di coloro che cercano il Signore.	3 Glory in his holy name, let the hearts that seek Yahweh rejoice!
4 Cercate il Signore, e la sua forza; Cercate del continuo la sua faccia.	4 Seek Yahweh and his strength, tirelessly seek his presence!
5 Ricordate le sue maraviglie ch’egli ha fatte; I suoi miracoli e i giudicii della sua bocca;	5 Remember the marvels he has done, his wonders, the judgements he has spoken.
6 O voi, progenie d’Abrahamo, suo servitore; Figliuoli di Giacobbe, suoi eletti.	6 Stock of Abraham, his servant, children of Jacob whom he chose!
7 Egli è il Signore Iddio nostro; I suoi giudicii son per tutta la terra	7 He is Yahweh our God, his judgements touch the whole world.
8 Egli si ricorda in eterno del suo patto, E in mille generazioni della parola ch’egli ha comandata;	8 He remembers his covenant for ever, the promise he laid down for a thousand generations,
9 Del suo patto, ch’egli fece con Abrahamo; E del suo giuramento, ch’egli fece ad Isacco;	9 which he concluded with Abraham, the oath he swore to Isaac.
10 Il quale egli confermò a Giacobbe per istatuto, E ad Israele per patto eterno;	10 He established it as a statute for Jacob, an everlasting covenant with Israel,
11 Dicendo: Io ti darò il paese di Canaan, Per sorte della vostra eredità.	11 saying, 'To you I give a land, Canaan, your allotted birthright.'
12 Quantunque fosser ben poca gente, E forestieri in esso.	12 When they were insignificant in numbers, a handful of strangers in the land,
13 E mentre essi andavano da una gente ad un’altra, Da un regno ad un altro popolo,	13 wandering from country to country, from one kingdom and nation to another,
14 Egli non permise che alcuno li oppressasse; Anzi gastigò eziandio dei re per amor loro,	14 he al owed no one to oppress them; for their sake he instructed kings,
15 E disse: Non toccate i miei unti, E non fate alcun male a’ miei profeti.	15 'Do not touch my anointed ones, to my prophets you may do no harm.'
16 Poi egli chiamò la fame sopra la terra; E ruppe tutto il sostegno del pane.	16 He cal ed down famine on the land, he took away their food supply;
17 Egli aveva mandato dinanzi a loro un uomo, Cioè Giuseppe, che fu venduto per servo;	17 he sent a man ahead of them, Joseph, sold as a slave.
18 I cui piedi furono serrati ne’ ceppi; La cui persona fu messa ne’ ferri.	18 So his feet were weighed down with shackles, his neck was put in irons.
19 La parola del Signore lo tenne al cimento, Fino al tempo che venne ciò ch’egli aveva detto.	19 In due time his prophecy was fulfilled, the word of Yahweh proved him true.
20 Allora il re mandò a farlo sciorre; Il dominator di popoli mandò a largheggiarlo.	20 The king sent orders to release him, the ruler of nations set him free;
21 Egli lo costituì padrone sopra la sua casa, E rettore sopra tutto il suo stato;	21 he put him in charge of his household, the ruler of al he possessed,
22 Per tenere a freno i suoi principi a suo senno; E per dare ammaestramento a’ suoi anziani.	22 to instruct his princes as he saw fit, to teach his counsel ors wisdom.
23 Poi Israele entrò in Egitto; E Giacobbe dimorò come forestiere nel paese di Cam.	23 Then Israel migrated to Egypt, Jacob settled in the country of Ham.
24 E Iddio fece grandemente moltiplicare il suo popolo; E lo rendè più possente che i suoi nemici	24 He made his people increase in numbers, he gave them more strength than their enemies,
25 Egli rivolse il cuor loro a odiare il suo popolo, A macchinar frode contro a’ suoi servitori.	25 whose heart he turned to hate his own people, to double-cross his servants.
26 Egli mandò Mosè, suo servitore; Ed Aaronne, il quale egli aveva eletto.	26 He sent his servant Moses, and Aaron, the man of his choice.
27 Essi eseguirono fra loro i miracoli ch’egli aveva loro detti, E i suoi prodigi nella terra di Cam.	27 They worked there the wonders he commanded, marvels in the country of Ham.
28 Egli mandò le tenebre, e fece oscurar l’aria; Ed essi non furono ribelli alle sue parole.	28 Darkness he sent, and darkness fel , but that nation defied his orders.
29 Egli cangiò le acque loro in sangue, E fece morire il lor pesce.	29 He turned their rivers to blood, and kil ed al the fish in them.
30 La terra loro produsse rane, Ch’entrarono fin nelle camere de’ loro re.	30 Their country was overrun with frogs, even in the royal apartments;
31 Alla sua parola venne una mischia d’insetti, E pidocchi in tutte le lor contrade.	31 at his word came flies, and mosquitoes throughout the country.
32 Egli mutò le lor pioggie in gragnuola, E in fuoco divampante nel lor paese;	32 He gave them hail as their rain, flames of fire in their land;
33 E percosse le lor vigne, e i lor fichi; E fracassò gli alberi della lor contrada.	33 he blasted their vine and their fig tree, and shattered the trees of the country.
34 Alla sua parola vennero locuste, E bruchi senza numero;	34 At his word came locusts, hoppers beyond al counting;
35 Che rosero tutta l’erba nel lor paese, E mangiarono il frutto della lor terra.	35 they devoured every green thing in the land, devoured al the produce of the soil.
36 Poi egli percosse ogni primogenito nel lor paese, Le primizie d’ogni lor forza.	36 He struck al the first-born in their land, the flower of all their manhood;
37 E condusse fuori Israele con oro e con argento; E non vi fu alcuno, fra le sue tribù, che fosse fiacco.	37 he led Israel out with silver and gold; in their tribes there was none who stumbled.
38 Gli Egizi si rallegrarono della lor partita; Perciocchè lo spavento di essi era caduto sopra loro.	38 Egypt was glad at their leaving, for terror of Israel had seized them.
39 Egli distese la nuvola, per coverta; Ed accese un fuoco, per alluminarli di notte.	39 He spread out a cloud to cover them, and fire to light up the night.
40 Alla lor richiesta egli addusse delle quaglie, E li saziò del pane del cielo.	40 They asked and he brought them quails, food from heaven to their hearts' content;
41 Egli aperse la roccia, e ne colarono acque; Rivi corsero per i luoghi aridi.	41 he opened a rock, the waters gushed out, and flowed in dry ground as a river.
42 Perciocchè egli si ricordò della parola della sua santità, Detta ad Abrahamo, suo servitore;	42 Faithful to his sacred promise, given to his servant Abraham,
43 E trasse fuori il suo popolo con allegrezza, E i suoi eletti con giubilo;	43 he led out his people with rejoicing, his chosen ones with shouts of joy.
44 E diede loro i paesi delle genti; Ed essi possedettero le fatiche de’ popoli;	44 He gave them the territories of nations, they reaped the fruit of other people's labours,
45 Acciocchè osservassero i suoi statuti, E guardassero le sue leggi. Alleluia	45 on condition that they kept his statutes, and remained obedient to his laws.
