1 Lamento di Davide che egli cantò al Signore a causa del beniaminita Cus.	1 A plaintive song of David, which he sang to the LORD concerning Cush, the Benjaminite.
2 Signore mio Dio, in te mi rifugio; salvami da quanti m'inseguono e liberami,	2 LORD my God, in you I take refuge; rescue me; save me from all who pursue me,
3 perché non sbrani qual leone l'anima mia, la strappi via e non c'è chi soccorra.	3 Lest they maul me like lions, tear me to pieces with none to save.
4 Signore mio Dio, se un'indegnità io avessi commesso, se vi fosse ingiustizia nelle mie mani,	4 LORD my God, if I am at fault in this, if there is guilt on my hands,
5 se avessi ripagato con il male il mio alleato e risparmiato senza ragione il mio nemico,	5 If I have repaid my friend with evil-- I spared even those who hated me without cause--
6 m'insegua allora il mio nemico e mi raggiunga e getti nella polvere il mio onore.	6 Then let my enemy pursue and overtake me, trample my life to the ground, and leave me dishonored in the dust.Selah
7 Sorgi, Signore, nella tua ira; lèvati contro l'arroganza dei miei avversari; déstati, o mio Dio: disponi il giudizio;	7 Rise up, LORD, in your anger; rise against the fury of my foes. Wake to judge as you have decreed.
8 circondato dall'assemblea dei popoli, su di essa con maestà presiedi. Il Signore giudica i popoli.	8 Have the assembly of the peoples gather about you; sit on your throne high above them,
9 Giudicami, o Signore, secondo la tua giustizia e secondo la mia innocenza, o Eccelso...	9 O LORD, judge of the nations. Grant me justice, LORD, for I am blameless, free of any guilt.
10 Giunga a termine la malizia degli empi; ma tu rendi stabile il giusto, poiché scrutatore dei reni e dei cuori è il giusto Dio.	10 Bring the malice of the wicked to an end; uphold the innocent, O God of justice, who tries hearts and minds.
11 Il mio scudo è il Dio eccelso, colui che salva i retti di cuore;	11 A shield before me is God who saves the honest heart.
12 Dio è un giudice giusto, è un Dio che si adira ogni giorno.	12 God is a just judge, who rebukes in anger every day.
13 Non torna egli forse ad affilarsi la spada? Ha teso e puntato il suo arco.	13 If sinners do not repent, God sharpens his sword, strings and readies the bow,
14 Per sé ha preparato strumenti di morte, facendo roventi i suoi dardi.	14 Prepares his deadly shafts, makes arrows blazing thunderbolts.
15 Ecco, l'empio concepisce iniquità, porta in seno nequizia e genera inganno.	15 Sinners conceive iniquity; pregnant with mischief, they give birth to failure.
16 Un pozzo ha intagliato e ha scavato ed è caduto nella fossa che faceva.	16 They open a hole and dig it deep, but fall into the pit they have dug.
17 Ricade la sua nequizia sulla sua testa e sul suo capo la sua violenza discende.	17 Their mischief comes back upon themselves; their violence falls on their own heads.
18 Voglio celebrare il Signore secondo la sua giustizia e voglio cantare il nome del Signore altissimo.	18 I praise the justice of the LORD; I celebrate the name of the LORD Most High.
