Unto the end. A Psalm of David.1 Psaume de David. Quand il était dans le désert de Juda.
Hear, O God, my prayer of supplication. Rescue my soul from the fear of the enemy.2 Dieu, c'est toi mon Dieu, je te cherche, mon âme a soif de toi, après toi languit ma chair, terresèche, altérée, sans eau.
You have protected me from the assembly of the malignant, from a multitude of workers of iniquity.3 Oui, au sanctuaire je t'ai contemplé, voyant ta puissance et ta gloire.
For they have sharpened their tongues like a sword; they have formed their bow into a bitter thing,4 Meilleur que la vie, ton amour; mes lèvres diront ton éloge.
so that they may shoot arrows from hiding at the immaculate.5 Oui, je veux te bénir en ma vie, à ton nom, élever les mains;
They will suddenly shoot arrows at him, and they will not be afraid. They are resolute in their wicked talk. They have discussed hidden snares. They have said, “Who will see them?”6 comme de graisse et de moelle se rassasie mon âme, lèvres jubilantes, louange en ma bouche.
They have been searching carefully for iniquities. Their exhaustive search has failed. Man will approach with a deep heart,7 Quand je songe à toi sur ma couche, au long des veilles je médite sur toi,
and God will be exalted. The arrows of the little ones have become their wounds,8 toi qui fus mon secours, et je jubile à l'ombre de tes ailes;
and their tongues have been weakened against them. All those who saw them have been troubled;9 mon âme se presse contre toi, ta droite me sert de soutien.
and every man was afraid. And they announced the works of God, and they understood his acts.10 Mais ceux qui poussent mon âme à sa perte, qu'ils descendent au profond de la terre!
The just will rejoice in the Lord, and they will hope in him. And all the upright of heart will be praised.11 Qu'on les livre au tranchant de l'épée, qu'ils deviennent la part des chacals!
Et le roi se réjouira en Dieu; qui jure par lui en tirera louange quand les menteurs auront la bouchefermée.
