1 אלה מסעי בני ישראל אשר יצאו מארץ מצרים לצבאתם ביד משה ואהרן	1 These were the stages of the journey made by the Israelites when they left Egypt in their companiesunder the leadership of Moses and Aaron.
2 ויכתב משה את מוצאיהם למסעיהם על פי יהוה ואלה מסעיהם למוצאיהם	2 Moses recorded their starting-points in writing whenever they moved on at Yahweh's order. Thestages, from one starting-point to another, were as fol ows:
3 ויסעו מרעמסס בחדש הראשון בחמשה עשר יום לחדש הראשון ממחרת הפסח יצאו בני ישראל ביד רמה לעיני כל מצרים	3 They left Rameses in the first month. It was the fifteenth day of the first month, the day following thePassover, when the Israelites confidently set out, under the eyes of al Egypt.
4 ומצרים מקברים את אשר הכה יהוה בהם כל בכור ובאלהיהם עשה יהוה שפטים	4 The Egyptians were burying those of their own people whom Yahweh had struck down, all the first-born; Yahweh had carried out his judgement on their gods.
5 ויסעו בני ישראל מרעמסס ויחנו בסכת	5 The Israelites left Rameses and camped at Succoth.
6 ויסעו מסכת ויחנו באתם אשר בקצה המדבר	6 Then they left Succoth and encamped at Etham which is on the edge of the desert.
7 ויסעו מאתם וישב על פי החירת אשר על פני בעל צפון ויחנו לפני מגדל	7 They left Etham, turned back to Pi-Hahiroth, opposite Baal-Zephon, and encamped before Migdol.
8 ויסעו מפני החירת ויעברו בתוך הים המדברה וילכו דרך שלשת ימים במדבר אתם ויחנו במרה	8 They left Pi-Hahiroth, crossed the sea into the desert, and after marching for three days in the desertof Etham they encamped at Marah.
9 ויסעו ממרה ויבאו אילמה ובאילם שתים עשרה עינת מים ושבעים תמרים ויחנו שם	9 They left Marah and reached Elim. At Elim there were twelve springs of water and seventy palmtrees; they encamped there.
10 ויסעו מאילם ויחנו על ים סוף	10 They left Elim and encamped by the Sea of Reeds.
11 ויסעו מים סוף ויחנו במדבר סין	11 They left the Sea of Reeds and encamped in the desert of Sin.
12 ויסעו ממדבר סין ויחנו בדפקה	12 They left the desert of Sin and encamped at Dophkah.
13 ויסעו מדפקה ויחנו באלוש	13 They left Dophkah and encamped at Alush.
14 ויסעו מאלוש ויחנו ברפידם ולא היה שם מים לעם לשתות	14 They left Alush and encamped at Rephidim; the people found no drinking water there.
15 ויסעו מרפידם ויחנו במדבר סיני	15 They left Rephidim and encamped in the desert of Sinai.
16 ויסעו ממדבר סיני ויחנו בקברת התאוה	16 They left the desert of Sinai and encamped at Kibroth-ha-Taavah.
17 ויסעו מקברת התאוה ויחנו בחצרת	17 They left Kibroth-ha-Taavah and encamped at Hazeroth.
18 ויסעו מחצרת ויחנו ברתמה	18 They left Hazeroth and encamped at Rithmah.
19 ויסעו מרתמה ויחנו ברמן פרץ	19 They left Rithmah and encamped at Rimmon-Perez.
20 ויסעו מרמן פרץ ויחנו בלבנה	20 They left Rimmon-Perez and encamped at Libnah.
21 ויסעו מלבנה ויחנו ברסה	21 They left Libnah and encamped at Rissah.
22 ויסעו מרסה ויחנו בקהלתה	22 They left Rissah and encamped at Kehelathah.
23 ויסעו מקהלתה ויחנו בהר שפר	23 They left Kehelathah and encamped at Mount Shepher.
24 ויסעו מהר שפר ויחנו בחרדה	24 They left Mount Shepher and encamped at Haradah.
25 ויסעו מחרדה ויחנו במקהלת	25 They left Haradah and encamped at Makheloth.
26 ויסעו ממקהלת ויחנו בתחת	26 They left Makheloth and encamped at Tahath.
27 ויסעו מתחת ויחנו בתרח	27 They left Tahath and encamped at Terah.
28 ויסעו מתרח ויחנו במתקה	28 They left Terah and encamped at Mithkah.
29 ויסעו ממתקה ויחנו בחשמנה	29 They left Mithkah and encamped at Hashmonah.
30 ויסעו מחשמנה ויחנו במסרות	30 They left Hashmonah and encamped at Moseroth.
31 ויסעו ממסרות ויחנו בבני יעקן	31 They left Moseroth and encamped at Bene-Jaakan.
32 ויסעו מבני יעקן ויחנו בחר הגדגד	32 They left Bene-Jaakan and encamped at Hor-Gidgad.
33 ויסעו מחר הגדגד ויחנו ביטבתה	33 They left Hor-Gidgad and encamped at Jotbathah.
34 ויסעו מיטבתה ויחנו בעברנה	34 They left Jotbathah and encamped at Abronah.
35 ויסעו מעברנה ויחנו בעציון גבר	35 They left Abronah and encamped at Ezion-Geber.
36 ויסעו מעציון גבר ויחנו במדבר צן הוא קדש	36 They left Ezion-Geber and encamped in the desert of Zin, that is, at Kadesh.
37 ויסעו מקדש ויחנו בהר ההר בקצה ארץ אדום	37 They left Kadesh and encamped at Mount Hor, on the borders of the land of Edom.
38 ויעל אהרן הכהן אל הר ההר על פי יהוה וימת שם בשנת הארבעים לצאת בני ישראל מארץ מצרים בחדש החמישי באחד לחדש	38 The priest Aaron went up Mount Hor on Yahweh's orders and died there in the fortieth year of theexodus of the Israelites from Egypt, in the fifth month, on the first day of the month.
39 ואהרן בן שלש ועשרים ומאת שנה במתו בהר ההר	39 Aaron was a hundred and twenty-three years old when he died on Mount Hor.
40 וישמע הכנעני מלך ערד והוא ישב בנגב בארץ כנען בבא בני ישראל	40 The king of Arad, the Canaanite who lived in the Negeb of Canaan, heard of the Israelites' arrival.
41 ויסעו מהר ההר ויחנו בצלמנה	41 They left Mount Hor and encamped at Zalmonah.
42 ויסעו מצלמנה ויחנו בפונן	42 They left Zalmonah and encamped at Punon.
43 ויסעו מפונן ויחנו באבת	43 They left Punon and encamped at Oboth.
44 ויסעו מאבת ויחנו בעיי העברים בגבול מואב	44 They left Oboth and encamped in Moabite territory at Iye-Abarim.
45 ויסעו מעיים ויחנו בדיבן גד	45 They left Iyim and encamped at Dibon-Gad.
46 ויסעו מדיבן גד ויחנו בעלמן דבלתימה	46 They left Dibon-Gad and encamped at Almon-Diblathaim.
47 ויסעו מעלמן דבלתימה ויחנו בהרי העברים לפני נבו	47 They left Almon-Diblathaim and encamped in the Abarim mountains facing Nebo.
48 ויסעו מהרי העברים ויחנו בערבת מואב על ירדן ירחו	48 They left the Abarim mountains and encamped on the Plains of Moab, near the Jordan oppositeJericho.
49 ויחנו על הירדן מבית הישמת עד אבל השטים בערבת מואב	49 They encamped near the Jordan between Beth-ha-Jeshimoth and Abel-ha-Shittim, on the Plains ofMoab.
50 וידבר יהוה אל משה בערבת מואב על ירדן ירחו לאמר	50 Yahweh spoke to Moses on the Plains of Moab, near the Jordan by Jericho, and said:
51 דבר אל בני ישראל ואמרת אלהם כי אתם עברים את הירדן אל ארץ כנען	51 'Speak to the Israelites and say: "When you have crossed the Jordan into Canaan,
52 והורשתם את כל ישבי הארץ מפניכם ואבדתם את כל משכיתם ואת כל צלמי מסכתם תאבדו ואת כל במתם תשמידו	52 you wil drive out al the local inhabitants before you. You wil destroy al their painted images, youwil destroy al their metal statues and you wil demolish al their high places.
53 והורשתם את הארץ וישבתם בה כי לכם נתתי את הארץ לרשת אתה	53 You wil take possession of the country and settle in it, for I have given you the country as yourproperty.
54 והתנחלתם את הארץ בגורל למשפחתיכם לרב תרבו את נחלתו ולמעט תמעיט את נחלתו אל אשר יצא לו שמה הגורל לו יהיה למטות אבתיכם תתנחלו	54 You wil share it out by lot among your clans. To a large clan you wil give a larger heritage, and to asmal er clan you wil give a smal er heritage. Where the lot fal s for each, that wil be his. Your heritage wildepend on the size of your tribe.
55 ואם לא תורישו את ישבי הארץ מפניכם והיה אשר תותירו מהם לשכים בעיניכם ולצנינם בצדיכם וצררו אתכם על הארץ אשר אתם ישבים בה	55 If, however, you do not drive out the local inhabitants before you, the ones you al ow to remain wilbe thorns in your eyes and thistles in your sides and wil harass you in the country where you are living,
56 והיה כאשר דמיתי לעשות להם אעשה לכם	56 and I shal treat you as I intended to treat them." '
