2 El hombre piensa que todos sus caminos son puros, pero el Señor pesa los corazones. | 2 All the ways of a man may be pure in his own eyes, but it is the LORD who proves the spirit. |
3 Encomienda tus obras al Señor, y se realizarán tus proyectos. | 3 Entrust your works to the LORD, and your plans will succeed. |
4 El Señor lo hizo todo con un fin, incluso al malvado, para el día nefasto. | 4 The LORD has made everything for his own ends, even the wicked for the evil day. |
5 El corazón altanero es abominable para el Señor, tarde o temprano no quedará impune. | 5 Every proud man is an abomination to the LORD; I assure you that he will not go unpunished. |
6 Por la bondad y la fidelidad se expían las faltas, y con el temor del Señor se evita el mal. | 6 By kindness and piety guilt is expiated, and by the fear of the LORD man avoids evil. |
7 Cuando el Señor se complace en la conducta de un hombre, lo reconcilia hasta con sus mismos enemigos. | 7 When the LORD is pleased with a man's ways, he makes even his enemies be at peace with him. |
8 Más vale poco con justicia que abundantes ganancias con injusticia. | 8 Better a little with virtue, than a large income with injustice. |
9 El corazón del hombre se fija un trayecto, pero el Señor asegura sus pasos. | 9 In his mind a man plans his course, but the LORD directs his steps. |
10 Hay un oráculo en los labios del rey: él no se equivoca cuando dicta sentencia. | 10 The king's lips are an oracle; no judgment he pronounces is false. |
11 La báscula y las balanzas justas pertenecen al Señor, y son obra suya todas las pesas de la bolsa. | 11 Balance and scales belong to the LORD; all the weights used with them are his concern. |
12 El rey aborrece las malas acciones, porque un trono se afianza gracias a la justicia. | 12 Kings have a horror of wrongdoing, for by righteousness the throne endures. |
13 Los labios justos gozan del favor del rey: él ama al que habla con rectitud. | 13 The king takes delight in honest lips, and the man who speaks what is right he loves. |
14 El furor del rey es mensajero de muerte, pero un hombre sabio lo aplaca. | 14 The king's wrath is like messengers of death, but a wise man can pacify it. |
15 Cuando el resto del rey está radiante, hay vida, y su favor es como lluvia de primavera. | 15 In the light of the king's countenance is life, and his favor is like a rain cloud in spring. |
16 Adquirir sabiduría vale más que el oro fino, adquirir inteligencia es preferible a la plata. | 16 How much better to acquire wisdom than gold! To acquire understanding is more desirable than silver. |
17 La senda de los hombres rectos es apartarse del mal, el que vigila su camino preserva su vida. | 17 The path of the upright avoids misfortune; he who pays attention to his way safeguards his life. |

22 El buen juicio es fuente de vida para el que lo posee, pero la necedad es el castigo de los necios. | 22 Good sense is a fountain of life to its possessor, but folly brings chastisement on fools. |
23 El corazón del sabio da sensatez a su boca y hace más persuasivas sus palabras. | 23 The mind of the wise man makes him eloquent, and augments the persuasiveness of his lips. |
24 Las palabras amables son un panal de miel, dulce al paladar y saludable para el cuerpo. | 24 Pleasing words are a honeycomb, sweet to the taste and healthful to the body. |
25 Hay caminos que parecen rectos, pero al final son caminos de muerte. | 25 Sometimes a way seems right to a man, but the end of it leads to death! |
26 El hambre del trabajador trabaja para él, porque su boca lo estimula. | 26 The laborer's appetite labors for him, for his mouth urges him on. |
27 El hombre infame cava la desgracia, y en sus labios hay como un fuego devorador. | 27 A scoundrel is a furnace of evil, and on his lips there is a scorching fire. |

31 Corona de gloria son los cabellos blancos, y se la encuentra en el camino de la justicia. | 31 Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is gained by virtuous living. |
32 El que tarda en enojarse vale más que un héroe, y el dueño de sí mismo, más que un conquistador. | 32 A patient man is better than a warrior, and he who rules his temper, than he who takes a city. |
33 Las suertes se echan en los pliegues del manto, pero la decisión viene del Señor. | 33 When the lot is cast into the lap, its decision depends entirely on the LORD. |
